The people around you look like they belong to an old civilization. Busily, they work at constructing what appears to be a temple or tomb among the great dunes of this place.[break][break]

When asked, a worker says, "We are creating a great protector. Eons ago, a great star fell from the heavens and landed here. We are finally able to harness its power. Go. Take a look!"[break][break]

You enter the incomplete tomb to see a large chunk of some unknown purple material. Red veins pulse throughout it like blood—or poison. It emanates a great power. Before it, several boulders are set against each other.

Curiosity is a driving force, and Fern itches to just reach out and touch the hunk of purple rock.[break][break]

What are they here for, if not to learn from these trials with hands on experience?. Touch the big red button that says DO NOT TOUCH. Or don’t touch it, but when is that ever any fun?[break][break]

But unlike jayden cross, who they were content to at least attempt to drag about, Fern still defaults when it is Cillian Quinn who they are working with. Their head tilts, and their fingers curl back and away when it registers that they had been subconsciously extending them closer.[break][break]

“Ah, probably better to not activate some Pandora’s box moment.” Their glance darts sideways to Cillian, head tipping side to side in musing judgement.[break][break]

Cillian's exasperation turns fond as fern delaney, at least, thinks to ask for permission. The underboss shakes his head, but not in refusal.[break][break]

Suddenly, you and everyone nearby is overtaken by a horrific vision of a skeletal dragon soaring above the planet, its ribs and claws as sharp as its tendrils. From a nearby meteoroid, a DEOXYS shoots outward. It attempts to attack the ETERNATUS.[break][break]

In the process, a fragment from the ETERNATUS' BODY falls toward the earth...[break][break]

All of you come to and see that the mysterious material is pulsing. With every pulse, the purple chunk begins to manipulate the spatial elements of reality around it and yourselves. Paranoia begins to settle in... before the scenario shifts.

The thought to regret later: how bad can it be?[break][break]

Their hand slaps down on the purple chunk as it glows. Within seconds their sight is assailed by the onslaught of color and light that whir through their mind to take shape in the form of strange scenes.[break][break]

It’s all very galactic, isn’t it? Unfortunately, they’ve never been much of a sci-fi guy, so much of what they see zooms over their head, but it’s still pretty jarring. It’s familiar, though–that was, if deoxys had been swapped for necrozma.[break][break]

“Yeah, you weren’t kidding about those hallucinations, huh?” they mutter once the visions fade. A hand pushes through their hair before they shake their head in an attempt to clear the searing visions that linger there.

Discomfort prickles at the back of their neck, and they glance over at Cillian warily. “What happens now? Is it gonna implode or something?”

Disappointingly, the vision is no different from before.[break][break]

As his mind and vision clear, Cillian watches the pulsating purple chunk as if it were a particularly interesting chemical reaction. Only when Fern speaks does his attention snap back to the admin.[break][break]

"If it does, we don't get to see that part." Cil sounds almost disappointed. Their surroundings begin to twitch, shifting and changing beneath the meteorite's power. "It'll shift us somewhere else before-"[break][break]

He doesn't get to finish the sentence.

All of this feels so disjointed.” Do these revolving scenes truly intersect or join together in a way that makes sense? The thread doesn’t seem consistent.[break][break]

The thought is only further cemented as the scene settles and leaves them atop Mt. Chimney.[break][break]

“It certainly doesn’t leave room to gain one’s bearings,” they grumble as the pair is immediately approached. They don’t recognize the kindler, but their gaze moves to Cillian Quinn, silently evaluating to see if he might. They lean against the contraption they’ve brought along. “This could serve you well, I’d wager,” Fern replies to the stranger, subtly indicating the suggestion that they assist rather than attack.

"The outcome is disappointingly fixed," Cillian agrees.[break][break]

It felt more like a video game than anything else. There were choices, but those choices had been chosen by some other person never seen by the player. He pictures the Triad smirking as they watch Hoenn's denizens run through their simulated world like rats in a maze.[break][break]

His mood is foul before Farhan's approach; indeed, he recognizes the Kindler, and it's only desire to see the alternate outcome that has him silently agreeing with Fern. He ignores the bomb previously chucked into the mountain's belly.[break][break]

"We mean no harm," he says, stepping away from the device to give Farhan room to approach it. "What is your goal here?"[break][break]

He's unsure if he'll get an answer.
