Camping sucks.

To reiterate, camping sucks sucks sucks sucks SUCKS.

The process of setting up a tent, putting up incense around the campgrounds to keep away wild Pokemon, sleeping bags on hard dirt covered with only a thin layer of canvas, the lack of any modern amenities anywhere within the nearest ten miles of her, this whole thing was primitive as hell and Xenon hated every last second of it. If she could choose to be anywhere else for the next week she wouldn't be caught dead within a fucking campsite, but alas she would absolutely have to be here to make sure some plan or another for Rocket went off without any unnecessary hitches.

What made all of this even worse though, was the fact that she had to be in full fucking disguise in order to be here, due to the fact that she was kinda sorta a wanted criminal rising through the ranks of Rocket and she was currently camped outside of a major city and hub of Ranger activity.

So the disguised girl curses and sweats under the hot ass sun as she pounds another stake into the corner of the tent, making a hell of a racket as her lesser known Pokemon scurry about the campsite causing all kinds of ruckus, with only one poor overworked Gengar trying to keep them all in some kind of order while her Scolipede lazes about under the shade of a nearby tree. To be Xenon is to suffer, well and truly.

There's something to be said for street wisdom. It pays off when you're living in the city, but out in the wilderness, it's useless. A whole chunk of your brain that just weighs you down, that could've fit something else.[break][break]

Maybe it's a stubborn streak. Maybe it's sheer stupidity. But getting the attention of Michael Navidson doesn't seem so appealing just yet. It's a cop out. It's a refusal to solve this puzzle for herself.[break][break]

And so, she wanders the unpopulated part of the island, looking for any signs of life. Or where she lost the trail.[break][break]

"Must've been around here," she says to her shadow. [break][break]

And her shadow nods along, agreeing with her. [break][break]

It, too, is completely lost. [break][break]

"Swear we passed this stump a ways back, right?"[break][break]

Her shadow nods again. [break][break]

What a sycophant.[break][break]

She sits down on it with a sigh, her back to the scene of the camp as she gazes out at trees. Nothing but trees. If there were some street signs, some distinguished graffiti, maybe she'd have a chance. [break][break]

But no, it's just trees.[break][break]

Lost in her own head, fretting about how she's gonna get back to where she lost the trail, she doesn't notice a single thing. She's just too out of her element, hit with sensory overload.[break][break]

Perhaps it's bad luck that Indium would occupy so much of Argon's attention, or maybe it's good luck that Cobalt would end up running off into the forest, wandering into the woods to find some kind of adventure to quell her boredom. The Eevee bounds up and down over fallen trees and through thick shrubbery, crawling through to find something interesting or perhaps something tasty, she reflects her partner in many ways even without Xenon knowing.

A rustle in the bushes near Tsubaki would assuredly attract her attention, a curious Eevee emerging from the green and approaching the girl and her Gengar with intrepid curiousity, comparing the shadow to that of her partner's with an appraising eye. The coloration was slightly off, or maybe her partner's Gengar was the one with the strange coloration, but they were certainly different in a way that she needed to compare side by side. The little fox yips as it circles Tsubaki and the Gengar twice, trying to get them to follow her as she starts to lead them back to camp. They certainly didn't have anywhere else to go at the moment, why not follow?

And as they approach, the sounds of faint cursing and screaming would ring true as Xenon continues to try and fail in setting up the most basic of tents in her little campsite clearing, Radon's insect antennae twitching as it turns its gaze over to Tsubaki with a cautious eye. Even if Xenon hadn't noticed her yet, the rest of her entourage certainly had.
