Summertime blues. There's something to be said about having them this time of year. Usually, he's with some honey somewhere, gettin' busy and swiping a card for love with enough dollar bills raining about to get him his moneyshot. That's certainly how it started.[break][break]

But it's difficult to put into words how last year, he had done that, and where things had gotten to now. Now, he was openly waking up by the morning, and expecting to just... settle. He hadn't gone to a club in months, and he was content. Sure, he found the occasional babe or boo out there, but it was remarkably not as good as he wanted it.[break][break]

The night sky is out. And with it comes the carnival.[break][break]

It's magical, really, a place of enjoyment, excitement, entertainment. And in truth, he wanted nothing to do with it, nothing at all. But then... why did he bring Jasmine Blair?[break][break]

Fuckin' hell, he should have been finding another tight babe to squeeze around him, but these days he had fallen to his norm. In a rut. Like a dry spell. He had partaken in that Amigo app, and yet to all the honeys he had messaged, it felt oddly hollow. There were babes and boos aplenty on there, wanting his goods harder than an addict on black tar heroin, and yet he...[break][break]

Here he is now, walking the streets with Jasmine. Having bought one of those candied apples. Shit is awful, gets stuck in his teeth, and honestly, the person making them could learn to make them better, but...[break][break]

He's not really looking at Jazz. He's not really looking at anyone. He's just kind of... enjoying himself. A pleasant little smile on his face, to show something was up. But nothing to be too concerned with.[break][break]

Jasmine wasn't as affected by the plague of negative emotions that her partner felt. In fact, she thought of this as just another outing he decided to pick her for. Little did she know that behind the scenes, Jack Magnus was falling behind on his wild days of sleeping with multiple men and women.[break][break]

She'd merely assumed it was "her turn," so to say. And while she thought it was a pretty shitty way to think about it, wasn't it partially true in the tussle of emotions and flings they had?[break][break]

This wasn't supposed to be a romance. Jasmine Blair and Jack Magnus were and always would be nothing more than friends with the extra benefits that came to their silent agreement.[break][break]

Still, the feeling of joy and excitement was in the air, with the squeals of excited people and Pokemon alike. Her ponytail bobbed with each step she took and every look around the area, taking in the bright lights. It was her first time to something like this, and it was overwhelming.[break][break]

She didn't know where to start.[break][break]

However, her emerald gaze happened to land on a stand that had dangling plushies in the air, a worker calling out for players to join in the fun. "Ooh. A game? Let's do that!"

Nothing could quite read Magnus' mental state right now. On the one hand, he was certain there was nothing happening. He should feel alright. Hell, he could still get down with the best of them, but there was a hollowness. Hell, only a handful of people were regulars. A lot of the time, it was come and go, and a lot of people suffering in that choice.[break][break]

Yeah... that's what it started as, anyways.[break][break]

Out of his thoughts, Magnus saw Jazz's excitement at a bunch of plushs, and going to accompany her, he felt excited in turn.[break][break]

"Ah sick. My favorite." He looked over the prizes, seeing a Yamper plushie, a Tandemaus plushie (that he wanted to give to Halle and Berry), among others. One that Magnus knew how to play.[break][break]

High Striker. Aka, the strength endurance game, and one that Magnus was very, very confident in. He looks to Jasmine, a smirk on his lips. "Whichever prize you want, baby. Get ready." No need for an explanation of the rules, the worker calling them over squeamishly watched on. Rolling up his sleeves, Magnus flexes as much as he can.[break][break]

"Kiss for luck?"[break][break]

Why would he need luck here? An... odd request from Maggie.[break][break]

Whether or not he got it, he throws his arms back, and with strain showing on his face, he roars out. "AAAAAAAAAAAH" before throwing down all of his weight onto the button, a very powerful smack of the mallet. With it comes the satisfying ring of a bell, and his ears thank him. Oh yeah. He was that hot shit.[break][break]

The worker at the stand shakily calls out. "W-Winner... one plush for the happy couple."[break][break]

And of course they said that word.[break][break]

Maggie points to Jasmine, and gestures to the prizes. "All yours. Less you wanna try your luck to beat me."

Magnus seemed excited enough about the game, especially as he started to wind himself up to strike the padded button. Jasmine watched to the side, staying a nice distance away so she wouldn't get hit but remaining close enough where she could watch him and admire the way his muscles flexed.[break][break]

"Awe, you don't think that you can get it unless I kiss you?" she teased him.[break][break]

But, of course, Jasmine was Jasmine. She obliged, grabbing his muscled bicep and standing on her tiptoes to press her lips against his in a rather chaste kiss. It was not their norm when it came to showing affection, but it was kind of cute in its own way.[break][break]

She watched as he hit the button, letting a giddy laugh and clapping her hands excitedly as he hit a high score. "I knew you could do it, Maggie," she said with a bright grin. Although she looked at the toys hanging from the hooks above...[break][break]

Jazz was determined to win one herself.[break][break]

"I'm gonna win one. I'm a strong gal," she told her partner, flexing her arm at him as she took the hammer from him with a knowing smirk. The game was reset, and when she was told to go, she swung back and then with all her might, hit the button.[break][break]

Except it certainly didn't hit as far as Magnus's. It didn't even come close.[break][break]

"That's some bullshit!"

It was different today.[break][break]

There's a moment, when she pulls away, when he's chasing for just a second more, that fills him with a feeling. Something sobering, for just a moment. When not drowning in lust, what happens upon the sandy shoreline that leaves him breathless. He can feel it pump, beat harder. Yet as she pulls away, there it was... emptiness.[break][break]

Still, winning the plushie as he did, he felt satisfied. "No doubt, no doubt." He's smirking now, but with Jazz so confident to win one herself, it only has him become more arrogant, teasing even. He practically has it ripped from his hand, and Magnus takes a single step back to watch and-[break][break]

Is she glowing?[break][break]

What was wrong with him? He shouldn't be looking at her like this. He focuses on the game, and just like he knew, it didn't come close. But... instead of cutting into it, he gets behind her. He places his hand on her hand, gripping the hammer. He doesn't know what is coming over him, but as he moves to pull the hammer back, he says it. "Like this. Jazzy." And then with less force, he helps push it down.[break][break]

It doesn't win.[break][break]

And that's okay. He lets go as suddenly as he came to help her, taking a step away from her. His mouth curved into a much less smug, but still lightly arrogant look. "Go on. Pick a prize. Any plushie you want." he again, gestures to the prize pool. He still got to have one. Giving it away wouldn't be a problem, would it?[break][break]

If Jasmine noticed him reaching out for more, yearning for more, she didn't acknowledge it. She wasn't allowed to. She couldn't want something like that. So, she kept it short and sweet, as they typically did in public scenarios... well, most of the time.[break][break]

Because going back for more would admit that there was something there, when in reality, there was nothing.[break][break]

However, after her failure to hit the button, she felt him come behind her. Jazz's heartrate increased, and she found it hard to breathe. Just knowing how close he was, as he lifted her arms to hit it again, with no avail...[break][break]

At that point, she didn't really give a damn about the prize. Magnus was warm, solid behind her. She was tempted to lean back, but the attendant was already calling over the next contestants and directing the two of them to their selection of prizes.[break][break]

"Well, at least we got something out of it," Jasmine said, browsing the items, before she reached for a stuffed HOUNDOUR. It reminded her of his own Pokemon, as she smiled at him.[break][break]

"If you got a third one, what would you name it?"

How easy it would be to give in. If the feeling moved him, how far would it push him? Not so far... as clearly, he pulled back. But there was something there. Something raw. Untapped. They had been that close already, this was nothing new. They had experienced everything, clothes or no. And yet.[break][break]

This. This was something dangerous.[break][break]

Magnus had been too focused on leading Orthrus. Lately, he thought in terms of kings. A few too many philosophy books. How a king should act, how a leader should be and bear the weight of everything on their shoulders. The manmade Atlas who holds it all on his back, letting it bend, letting it get closer to the breakpoint. To be the greediest of them all. To be the angriest of them all. To be the strongest of them all. To laugh the loudest, to cry the most, to feel it all...[break][break]

Did... that include this?[break][break]

A little stuffed Houndour has Magnus surprised, now Jasmine's. For the first time, just a little heat fills his cheeks. How thoughtful that actually was. And what would he name it? He ponders. A name for a Houndour she'd have gotten...[break][break]

"A little ice drowned in coffee to melt into it... Affogato." He's relaxed as he says so with confidence. Her icy Pokemon preference. His more firey dogs. Hot and cold.[break][break]

Jealousy cannot exist here. Pain or reluctance cannot exist here. It's just them. That instinct of just going with it. Letting this move how it does. This was a much different beast than the usual days and night together.[break][break]

Letting himself look over towards what looked like a woman dressed finely, with big rings to allow a Palafin to jump through, he's watching it for just a moment, as they had walked to a new venue. "... there's a live carny performance over there. But..." His eyes go to something else. A drop tower. A thrill-seeking pang in his chest now. "Wanna have a thrill ride first?"

Jasmine laughed. "Isn't that just iced coffee?" she asked, not realizing that "affogato" was an actual thing. But, it did sound good.[break][break]

Really, anything cold and caffeinated sounded superb at the moment.[break][break]

For a brief moment, she watched the PALAFIN show, wondering just how long it took the trainer to train that Pokemon. She knew her own could be stubborn. Weren't PALAFIN a bit smart, though? Oh, she didn't know.[break][break]

"I feel like everything we do is a thrill ride," Jazz cooed with a wink.[break][break]

However, she grasped his hand, leading him away from the game to one of the drop tower rides. "Let's do this one. I bet you, it'll make you puke."

"Nah, nah." There's a playfulness in the air he latched onto, and he shrugs. "It's... nah, it's ice. Wait no, ice cream in coffee. Like. Hot and cold." He thought it was just ice, but it just came back to him. And the whole time, he's grinning. He's having a good time. He's falling.[break][break]

As she watches the Palafin performance a spell, only to coo out at him, and wink... her words were warm. The way she looks at him was intoxicating. The movement of her hand over his. And for a moment, it's fine. Until he tightens the grip as they walk.[break][break]

"Yeah. For sure."[break][break]

Everything was a thrill ride to them. Even as they hopped into the drop tower. Even as the duo was sat together, Magnus didn't let go of that hand, letting the operators place the safety device over his large frame. Magnus just prepared, and looked towards Jasmine.[break][break]

"Heh. You still wanna make that bet?"[break][break]

Up. And up. And up. And up. And up. And up.[break][break]

And for a moment. As they reach the top, Magnus remembers there will be a fireworks to end the night. And, more than that, the ferris wheel will be there. A perfect showing. It's cliche, but Magnus isn't someone to shy away from that shit. He stares on... he looks to Jazz.[break][break]

"That sounds good, actually. I want some. Do you think we could make some when we get back to headquarters?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. "I'll help and everything. Promise I won't make a big mess."[break][break]

Typically, Jasmine would try to get Magnus to do something for her. Spoil her, if you will. But, it would be kind of fun to make a treat with him, right?[break][break]

The pair were locked into the seats. Honestly, she was a bit surprised that he fit, laughing at herself. If he asked, she didn't tell him what she giggled at, only shaking her head.[break][break]

"How much you wanna bet?"[break][break]

But before a deal could be made, as they rose higher, the ride dropped. Jasmine let out a scream of glee, lifting her hands up in the air as she laughed. She looked at him with a broad smile as the first drop finished, raising up again for the second.[break][break]

Before the deal is made... that moment she speaks, the question from her lips, he finds it too hard to look away. What were emerald eyes, not his golden eyes travel to her lips, and he's stuck. Mentally, it's like a block, he's focusing on.[break][break]

Then the drop comes. The first one throwing them downwards, as Magnus throws his hands up as well, screaming out. He's not gonna lose his lunch, not at a time like this, but as she looks at him with that smile.[break][break]

He stares.[break][break]

"35 PD."[break][break]

He smirks, knowing he can keep it down. Well, probably. But before the next drop can be made.[break][break]

He snatches her hand. He holds onto her hand tight. And declares. "Don't go backing out now." His tone is so... dulcet. It's low. And he gives her a smile that he doesn't often give her. When they are alone, it's one meant for private time. Not in the bedroom, but when they aren't fighting, outside of it.

Another drop, and he doesn't let go at all. If her hand goes up, so does his. It's a smaller drop.

Jasmine was about to raise the bets higher. However, her stomach began to churn. Her smile was wiped off her face.[break][break]

Oh, shit. Was she going to lose the bet? With the last drop, she slapped her hands over her mouth. And as soon as it stopped...[break][break]

Well, the poor people had to shut down the ride for a few minutes to clean up.[break][break]

Luckily for her, Jazz didn't get anything on her. Instead, they wandered off to a table, getting some water to drink and something easy to eat to ease her stomach.[break][break]

You know. It was something. Once the ride had finished, and Jazz had lost her lunch, Maggie was staring. And he didn't find the that hot. But he was here for her. He basically holding an arm around her shoulder, and pulled her to him, as she drank water, and Magnus decided to get a small vegetable plate with some ginger. Something to level out the vomiting and nausea.[break][break]

"Heh." He digs into the salad himself, and begins to throw some in his mouth. He doesn't mind a salad on the occasion. Healthy body, healthy mind. "Pay me back later. Buy me something nice." He throws some more veggies into his mouth.[break][break]

And he's back at looking at Jasmine...[break][break]

"Double or nothing. Bumper cars." He points behind him, and smirks.[break][break]

He wasn't talking about the bedroom. Not even talking about the dirty deeds they could do. It was something sweeter than that. It was him wanting to enjoy today with her.

It was sort of embarrassing, literally getting sick on a freaking carnival ride. The worker was nice enough to assure her that it happened more often than she thought. Jasmine still offered a profuse apology, even as she was herded away to sit.[break][break]

Her face was red from the few stares she got.[break][break]

"I feel like my breath stinks. You got gum?" she asked, desperately hoping he did.[break][break]

Though she didn't budge until she found gum. Once she did, Jasmine agreed to go along with the bumper cars. "What, you think you'll get sick on these? You wanna bet 70PD? I've already lost," she reminded, laughing sheepishly.[break][break]

She handed over a ticket, hopping into a pink car. And as soon as the ride started, she made a straight beeline for Magnus's car.
