Just for that, he already had his usual menagerie out—Alpha the Lucario was ready to attack the ore that the other had broken open; while Ro the Metagross was acting as rearguard in the meantime; helping to shift around the shattered rock and moving them aside once they were done.

“Let’s go… and k-keep an eye out for those fucking jellyfish, o-okay?”

Just the thought of those goddamned jellyfish made his hair stand up on end even more than it already did.

“What—” he trailed off, before the apparitions began swimming their direction; holy shit on a stick! While they looked small, the more they stood around there twiddling their thumbs—

“Alpha, go! Dig as fast as you can!” he shouted at his Lucario’s direction; and the dual-type quickly got to work.

He just hoped they didn’t get bigger the longer they stayed here…

even as fast as he attempted to dig, his body began to drag. his movements suddenly felt slow and sluggish as the world around them squeezed tight with pink energy. visions and shapes glowed behind it's mind's eye.

[break][break] the shovel in his hands dropped to the floor as he witnissed the real-life projection of his mother coming to greet him.

[break][break] just as he thought it, tiny worms started wriggling out of the earth and wrapping around his feet. fear tightened around ollie's throat. they grew bigger and bigger still. the vision that was his mother warped into something large and terrifying, about as scary as the beings that ollie faced in the ultra deep sea.

“Faster, faster! Hurry up!” he gasped, while the Metagross literally screamed at him with more ‘white noise’ to get the fuck out of there, because a familiar voice—not that one, but the other one—started wafting out from the mist.

“Leave it! Let’s fucking go!” he yelled as the Metagross then zoomed their way, using Telekinesis to lift all of them—him, the Lucario, and trying to grab the other human as well—because right out of the damned, accursed mist came a feminine figure…

Oh, shit. It was Stormy Silph.
