[attr="class","body"]"Think you could fry an egg out here, if you tried hard enough," he mused out loud as he walked down the stretch of beach, even though there was really no one he was actively talking to. Only his shinx, who trotted alongside him, oblivious to what Lam was actually saying.[break][break]

Though he'd recently made the move out to Lilycove, he found himself back out at Slateport beach. It wasn't until he'd see the reminder email the night prior that he even remembered that he'd signed up to help with some litter pick up. Though he easily could have bailed, he showed up - litter grabby stick thing, and all.[break][break]

But this heat was something else, wasn't it?[break][break]

Noodle darted ahead, trying to dodge a scuttling krabby that wanted to pinch his poor little tail. SPARKS flew off the little feline, but the krabby was persistent, even going so far as to claw at Lam's litter grabber because it deemed the utensil to similar its own claws.[break][break]

"Hey!" he blurted as it made another grab. Maybe the overbearing sun was making them irritable? He didn't know. But soon enough more of the little crustaceans had crawled out from under rocks and sand until he and his little trash bag were surrounded.[break][break]

- wait a minute, where had his shinx gone?

After a long day of traveling into the great wide world, Noel stops at the beach of Slateport city in order to unwind. He sits on the sandy terrain with his pokemon by his side. All taking in the moment with their trainer, bathing in the sun in this rare moment of respite. Noel was deep in thought on what the next course of action was, should he stay in the city for longer, or should he get back to his journey after a night's rest? His train of thought was interrupted when a brightly colored Shinx appeared, curiously coming up to the bunch.[break][break]

"Hmm? Where did you come from little guy?"[break][break]

He brings a hand to gently pat at the small creature. Making sure not to be too rough and disturb it as his hand glides through its fur. His Eevee then slowly approaches the Shinx, nuzzling its head against the stranger as a sign of welcoming. It was then Noel turns around to see Lam's predicament. He stands up and begins to walk towards the commotion with all his pokemon following, including the newly met Shinx. He stops just brief of Lam and asks.[break][break]

"Do you need any help there friend?"[break][break]

[attr="class","body"]Maybe he should be able to handle a hoard of krabby seeing as he’s a gym leader or whatever, but he’s still overcoming that little, persistent childhood fear of aquatic life. Maybe he’s branched out to the point that he’s mostly fish he’s still wary of…but apart from pinchurin, most shallow pool creatures seem to still fall into the category of stupid, irrational fear.[break][break]
Plus, these guys are like, super intense.[break][break]
Lam has to dance around the snap of pinchy claws, lifting his feet up to avoid his toes getting caught. He probably looks a ridiculous sight right then, but he can’t find it in himself to care. Now if his shinx hadn’t turned tail and ditched him—[break][break]
A voice lifts over the irritable cries of the krabbies and Lam’s head shoots up to see the stranger approaching, and with him comes his shinx who is clearly fast friends with the guy’s eevee.[break][break]
“Oh! That’s where you went, huh Noodle?” The question is directed at the shinx, who chirps loudly in response—obviously proud of his quick thinking. An appreciative smile is then turned toward Noel, and his hands up come up in front of him to press together in a pleading gesture. Even as he’s juggling the litter picker. “Yes, please. If you don’t mind. They’ve come out in force.”

Noel motions over to his Druddigon with his hand, signaling it to come forward. Druddigon takes a few steps forward, towering over their new acquaintance and the puny Krabby. With a deep breath it turns it eyes down towards the small Pokemon who were trying to take a snip at Lam's feet. It gives off a Scary Face, frightening the Krabby, causing them to scuttle away and burrow themselves into the sand. [break][break]

"There you go, what caused you to be the target of such small Pokemon?"[break][break]

He asked not knowing at all who this stranger was. He had no knowledge of the names or faces of any of the gym leaders he wished to face. He simply flowed with the wind, letting it take him wherever he pleased, only following the direction of a town or city that a gym would lie. But for now he would act friendly with the man in front of him, as he was always one to go for a good first impression.[break][break]

[attr="class","body"]Noodle skitters back to Lam as soon as the krabby begin to disperse—intimidated by the dragon’s demeanor. Fuzzy little head held high as if he were the one to do the heavy lifting, and not the druddigon. Lam just shakes his head at the shinx as he flops at his feet, getting his gold and ash fur all sandy. He looks back up at his savior of the day, attention grabbed by his somewhat odd manner of speech.[break][break]
“Thanks, man!” Lam’s all grins as he manages to inch away from where he’d been stuck, now that the path is clear of his new mortal enemies. “I guess I must’ve stepped on their turf.” He lifts a shoulder in a shrug before he hefts up the litter picker. “Or maybe they didn’t like this. Probably makes me look like a bigger kingler or something.”[break][break]
Beats him! “I was just trying to clean up some trash people left behind.” The little garbage bag drags in the sand behind him, but he drops it to stick his hand out toward the other. “Name’s Lam, you from around here?” It’s not instinctive to title himself, as new to the position as he his. Plus, to Lam it sounds irreparably dorky. “Lam Logan, league gym leader.”[break][break]

"My name is Noel Parker. Its nice meeting you Lam. I'm not from around here at all, I'm originally from Dewford Town but I'm on a bit of a journey you see."[break][break]

Noel reaches out to accept the welcoming handshake from the young man. He grips onto Lam's hand and gives it a firm shake with perhaps too much force, unintentional however. He gives off a warm smile to Lam and lets go of the physical greeting.[break][break]

"Would you like any assistance Lam? Based on earlier it looks like you could use the help."[break][break]

His tone was blunt and to the point. He wouldn't mind helping out the newly met stranger as it would give him something to do in this town he arrived in not too long ago. In the background behind Noel, his Pokemon were busy cleaning out the beach already. Some of them either chasing off more Krabby or killing them on the spot, perhaps creating more work for the two trainers but Noel didn't notice.[break][break]

“Likewise, Noel!” Lam grins at him with little difficulty as the handshake is returned. “Dewford, huh? Can’t say I’ve spent much time there, but I battled at the gym recently.” Of course, he’s been in Granite gave and the ultra deep sea beyond that, but he’s not about to bring those instances up.[break][break]
Too much of a buzzkill for what is a pleasant exchange.[break][break]
The handshake continues, pulling a laugh from Lam at how much vigor goes into the gesture. He was particularly formal, wasn’t he. Once his hand was relinquish, one shoulder lifts in a relenting shrug. “Sure, if you want. I’m not going to say no to an extra hand.”[break][break]
Another laugh slips free, dryer in tone than the first. “Yeah, I got a little outnumbered there, but really I’m just picking up trash that others can’t really be bothered with doing themselves.” It was a shame, really. Compared to the Alolan beaches of his childhood home, Slateport’s beach appeared far less tended to. At least this stretch, anyway.[break][break]
“So, what sort of journey you on?” Lam asks casually as he turns to stab at what looks like a sun-faded candy wrapper with his litter picker. Meanwhile, his shinx joins in with Noel’s other—sticking to his eevee’s company in particular.

Sparing no time to help out Lam, Noel begins to pick up any trash he can find, the occasional bottle and wrappers here and there, throwing them all away into a trash bin supplied by the city. He puts his hands on his hips, taking a small breather to compose himself, and replies to the question.[break][break]

"Nothing so grand really... I'm on a mission to collect all the gym badges and eventually face off against the champion... but that's something very far off from now."[break][break]

He lets out a sigh, thinking on his journey ahead of him and how much he would have to go through. There was still plenty of the world to see and people to meet along the way to each gym but he hated how long it would take. Here he was collecting trash when he could be doing something more important but he couldn't say no to helping someone out. It was in his nature to lend an aid to anyone whenever possible.[break][break]

His Pokemon were also helping out, soon filling almost every trash can with either Krabby or waste. Meanwhile his Eevee and Lam's Shinx were out playing more than helping. [break][break]

"But enough about me, I'd like to learn more about you Lam, do you live around here and is this your day to day job?"[break][break]
