Mei had been eager to try out the so-called "RKS Machine." All Rockets were welcome, the little pink-haired Head Scientist had said so, after all. Yumi Hasegawa had gone, so why not Mei? Her roommate had seemed glad for the opportunity to scout out whatever supernatural dangers Hitoshi Inoue might have to face as her dutiful bodyguard - so Mei would do the same. Not just because she'd promised Hitoshi that she, too, would protect Yumi, but for her own benefit as a Rocket assassin.[break][break]
It was never a bad idea to get to know a potential enemy.[break][break]
The DRK Triad, her superiors called them. Agents from another world? Or perhaps originally from this one, turned world-hoppers. What did that even mean, to traverse worlds? It boggled Mei's mind but it also...well, it also excited her, too.[break][break]
Rocket Admin jayden cross had been assigned to her first expedition into the RKS Machine, at the behest of the Head Scientist. It was a good thing: Mei had been meaning to spend time with the man. fern delaney was keen on him, after all, and she liked Fern. More importantly, Marza Volchitsa liked Fern.[break][break]
"Well," she purred to Jayden, eyeing up the unfamiliar white-haired woman standing before them, dressed like some sort of campy witch. "You're the expert here. From my perspective, we're in the right place, but perhaps she's our enemy, so we ought to give her a hard time?"[break][break]
Mei really ought to have studied the files on the DRK Triad a little closer. She made a mental note to do that. After all, she barely recognized this woman. Friend or foe, Jayden would have to confirm.

Mei released Ponos, and the Eiscue joined Jayden's Dragapult in attacking the strange woman and her coven of robed figures. A stream of icy water surged towards two of the figures and their partner Unown, the LIQUIDATION soaking them as if they were really, truly there.[break][break]
"Huh, these are pretty realistic holograms," Mei noted. If that's what they even were? She was starting to suspect that rather than everything else becoming tangible, the RKS Machine had turned them virtual. She shivered; it wasn't a particularly pleasant thought.[break][break]
Their attacks did not seem to deter the simulated DRK Triad members; if anything, the masked agents continued to surge forward, causing Mei to move in closer to Jayden. The two stood back-to-back, ready for an all-out fight.[break][break]
"Maybe we should - " Mei began, but then a blinding flash (several HIDDEN POWER beams firing at once) interrupted her thought-process, and all she could manage to do was rely on her quick instincts to dodge out of the way.[break][break]
Unfortunately, being surrounded had its advantages.[break][break]
One of the blasts struck her, grazing her side, and she winced, expecting pain. None came...instead, she began to de-materialize?[break][break]
"Guess it's time for a change of scenery," she muttered.

Just like all of the other simulations had gone, eventually he and Mei Liu are teleported into another plane of existence. The first time that it happens is jarring, but by this point, Jayden is used to it.

[break][break] Then, he takes a look at their surroundings. Light trickles in from the sky, falling upon the resplendent glade that they find themselves in. However, it is not the nature that Jayden finds himself drawn to. Instead, it is the pokemon petrified into stone.

Her assumption was cut-off by a loud crack and she quickly hopped back, instincts kicking in as the tree began to sway violently towards her.

Curiously, these Pokemon feature brilliant markings that glow and glimmer beautifully in the dappled sunlight. Whether they were originally Illumina Pokemon or not is uncertain, but they shine bright with gratitude.
