Her soft orange feathers were bright against the foliage that littered route 119, still green before the colors turned to autumnal shades. His work with fire types continued now, though he was fairly certain he might try to use the torracat he'd been working with over the torchic, he still wanted to see what she was capable. Beyond chirping and looking for wurmple in the cutest display possible, of course.

[attr="class","body"]"Allllright! That looks like an easy opponent for ya!" Lam called to the torchic who looked up from what she was doing apathetically. The grookey swung down from the tree branch it had been napping on, swinging its stick at the top of the torchic's head. Bored, the torchic when back to pecking at the earth for a minute. Welp.[break][break]

"C'mon, let's ward it off, hm?" The grookey chattered, echoing Lam as it goaded the bird - which seemed to do the trick. Irritated, torchic fluttered up, little talons swiping at the monkey with NIGHT SLASHES that sent to clambering away back into the taller branches of the tree.

[attr="class","body"] A tumbleweed blows through the clearing in the form of a lone bramblin. “Hold up, who’s this lil guy?” The torchic in his company doesn’t seem to care— she takes after the rolling pokemon, treating it like a ball to play with. Sparks kick up under her talons as a kicking flare blitz sends it flying into the brush. An act that earns a bark of laughter from Lam. Okay, so she packs a punch when she wants to.

[attr="class","body"] The torchic clearly isn’t done being feisty when she turns to square up against an observant gogoat. “Ohp, not this one, bud.” Lam scoops the little bird up and tucks her under an arm. She coos as he smooths the ruff of feathers on her head. Then, he fishes an apple he’d brought as a snack from his coat pocket. Inching over carefully, he offers it to the gogoat. The Pokémon sniffs at it and then snaps the fruit between its teeth, in exchange for Lam then tapping it with a pokeball.
