the turtle follows behind the two of them, on edge in this alien world. heat radiates off of its spiny shell. freya's adorned in her sygna suit, but no energy hums off of it. still, the difference in this dive is startling.

the mist parts, the heady fervor she's felt in the ultra sea before, the voice in her head, it's all muted. behind a plexiglass plane, cloudy and untouchable.

she casts a glance at greyson, geared up in his own suit. she grimaces.

"it's not pleasant," she affirms and holds out her gloved hands to help him part the barrier.

orthos delights in the onslaught. with the mist parted, the amalgamations come out in droves. dragonfire joins foxfire in an unholy matrimony of rage as freya and greyson's pokemon decimate their enemies.

his question makes her laugh. the clawed fingertips of her sygna suit scratch gently at her cheek.

"alright," she says, though the purple under her eyes and the exhaustion on her drawn face says otherwise. last night, after telling king the truth, was a sleepless one.

"busy out here. we'll need to hurry, by the way. we're capable trainers, but even we won't be able to hold off what this thing's going to start throwing at us."

freya balks at the manifestation. she knows greyson is about as keen on the elite four member as freya is, but to have the mist conjure him here.

orthos emerges at freya's call. matias' eyes burn with molten fire, lips curling up and up and up, a garish open mouth with jagged teeth. the earth rumbles and freya takes a step back.

"that's your idea of handsome?" she says. orthos tucks his head and launches himself, shell spinning, into matias' back.
