Carbonara steadies him, her giant fluffy body behind him as he steps back from a ranger he'd tried to break twice today. [break][break]

"I killed her." Neon stated, a breeze wafts past him and into the cave. "Don't bother going back in there for a body." He added, giving final, final warning. [break][break]

He pulls out his partner's pokeball. The Ampharos ripped limb from limb by rabid paradoxes. He clicks the ball open before bending back the halves until it snaps. Then, finally, he tosses the pieces as hard as he can back into the tunnels. The odd echoe of the BRUTE BONNETS echoing back. Yeah, fuck you too.

The finality to Neon's words to her ring in. And for a moment, Genny's mind snaps. In animalistic rage, she wants to go. But her legs are too weak to carry her. The echo of Brute Bonnet sing for her the cacophony, the requiem to the fallen. She wants to hurt him, for taking Ebony away, but she can't get the strength to stand. So she does what she can do.[break][break]

She begins punching into the ground. Over. And over. And over. Tears fly everywhere. A nigh psychotic break, as she pounds away. Her lacking strength. Time, and time, and time again. Ultra Sea. Dog Mission. This stupid FUCKING war.[break][break]

Idealism crashes headfirst into reality, and she pounds her fists repeatedly, bloodying knuckles onto dirt. Her scream gaining strength, her heart echoing the sentiment as she claws into the dirt.[break][break]

Love without strength ends in bloody tears and needless sacrifice.[break][break]

Her knuckles bleed.[break][break]

"I'm tired of losing."[break][break]

Her mind goes back to the moment with Melody Miro in the Pokemon clinic. Genny's mind realigns itself back to sanity. Her eyes focus on the dirt. She's done with losing friend after friend. She's done letting people close to her suffer. She's done with it.[break][break]

She WILL become the Champion.

Quit? After everything? Walk away, and leave it behind? The thought spends three seconds in her head, and with it she grits her teeth, and forces herself to her feet. They wobble. They ache, with energy she doesn't have to spare. No matter how much pain lies ahead...[break][break]

"Never."[break][break]

Steadfast, she pulls herself up on her two wobbly, weakened legs, knowing she will fall any moment. Hazel eyes pricked with sadness, defiance in her tone. She takes a step forward towards Neon. Determination the only thing keeping her on two feet.[break][break]

She stumbles to a knee. Still a weakened mess.[break][break]

"As long as I'm breathing, I won't give it up." Her fist clinches, and she stumbles, messy orange-red bangs frayed, as she wipes a bloody hand towards her face. To wipe the tears.[break][break]

Wobbling unsteadily, she pulls out her Ranger badge, smeared now by dirt and blood. Fingers move over it... she doesn't deserve it. Has she saved anyone? Every Pokemon that has died has been for her to live... there's been a bigger reason for it all. But she hasn't seen it. Not until Ebony. Mr. Business? It was to get Elio, lam logan, and Ikarus Rook out alive. Hazel and Serenity? Keeping her safe from those Rockets (Tempest Quinn & Victoria Beckett). The ones she saw in the cave, with Isaac Merlo? Them too...[break][break]

They fought to keep her dream alive. They died for that dream. To quit was to call it foolish. To call them pawns, in a game of chess she never wanted to play, was an insult. They lived. They had lived.[break][break]

"And I won't throw it away." she claws at the dirt. Though she hasn't stopped crying, she gives Neon not a look of hatred, a glare of disdain...[break][break]

She gives him a smile. A refusal, a denial to let him torment her any more. And a declaration. "I'll become Champion. Honor their memory, and then I'll have to power to take Rocket down."[break][break]

"Then. I won't lose anyone ever again."

When she bounces back- when she doubles down, it incenses him. How dare she? How naïve. As if its that simple. As if anything is that simple ever because he picked the most difficult path in life. [break][break]

Running away. [break][break]

Joining Rocket. [break][break]

Accepting his Beast promotion. [break][break]

Killing. Once. Twice. Not pokemon, people. Cillian Quinn had tried to make it as impersonal as possible as Mint nearly threw up on his mission. [break][break]

But Neon couldn't stay impersonal. Not when jayden cross put the knife in his hands and looked him in the eyes. It grounded him in its horror. The weight of the knife, the warmth of the bodies, the smell of iron and tears and the earth drinking it all up like a witness. It almost makes him sick every time. Almost. Ebony's peaceful passing amidst a horrible alternative hangs over him.

He feels a buzzing in his ears. He could kill her, yes. But he doesn't want to. He just wants to hurt her. Make her sit in her helplessness and cry. [break][break]

Because the confidence with which she speaks just smells like avoidance. Like she's not looking at what's in front of her. Like everything will work out when it never does. It's not easy. It hadn't been for him so why should it be for others? [break][break]

She smiles and he strikes, a quick jab meant to put her back down on the ground where she belonged. "Truce over." That much is obvious. His breathing doesn't hitch. He's steadied himself, ironically, in fucking with Genny. A neat little distraction until later, when the snapping of so many pokeballs today rings nonstop in his dreams tonight. [break][break]

"You're delusional if you think a title is enough to beat Rocket. Especially when your current hasn't even gotten close." he said, snarl in his voice and a grin in the front of his helmet. Carbonara bristles at the sudden movement, more so because she doesn't want Neon moving too suddenly after all that, unsure if he dodged all those withering attacks. [break][break]

The mist is still rolling out of the cave, making it useless to them. Until it passes, it's a hazard and he reports it as such. [break][break]

"Neon reporting from tunnel entrance 12A. Infested with BRUTE BONNETS at this time. Best avoid it." He doesn't look at Genny when he orders forces to clear off from the tunnel, effectively making sure no rocket in their right mind would come near while she's barely moving. That's just bad optics for the Beast. [break][break]

He clicks his tongue, hand dropping from where his ear would be. "Call something to come get you. If I pass through here again and find your corpse, that dumb dog will roll in their grave." he gestures quickly, a casual hang ten before the Paradox and him begin to wander off.

She's crying, but she won't stop smiling. It was that easy. It's always been that easy, and yet he wishes to pull her back down to earth. And with it, no pain can break her. She will hold fast. And even as the punch knocks her back to the ground, she continues to smile, though her nose bleeds, though her eyes prick, though she cries, she doesn't let him shake her resolve.[break][break]

"Just you watch then. I'll become better than all of you." All it takes is effort. A heap of it, but enough that Genny won't dare stop. She's going to beat this, and even as she lacks the energy to stand, the declaration is enough for her.[break][break]

It's after Neon leaves that Genny can feel the lick on her face.[break][break]

A phantom ever so hidden from sight. The memory of Ebony. That does have her weep. In quiet, she finally can. With the explosion of a Pokeball, comes the midnight dog Wander, and she carries her. The crying girl here going through more than enough. She had guts to face that Rocket alone... but.[break][break]

With a smile, Wander begins to run with the crying Genny falling to slumber...[break][break]
