The closer they tried to get to shore, the the more League forces they found. The waters close to shore are littered with pokemon and ships form the League. They'd have to be fast. [break][break]

Kitted with an oxygen mask alteration for his usual LED helmet, he goes dark and slips into the water with his Gyarados farther back, and deep where they can't tell if the League is monitoring. It's dangerous, and he doesn't like being surrounded by so much water but he holds onto his Gyarados as they swim quickly into shark infested waters. Rocket approach above, drawing their attention to the skies. And then suddenly in the midst of a certain grouping of small boats, his Gyarados surfaces, roaring its battle cry with a single blue trainer with a, literally, bright grin on their electronic face. As his Gyarados sets to smash a pair of Wailmer with its body weight, Mint drops onto the boat as in the background, from one of the tunnels comes out a blaze of fire and the vague message of HEATRAN is delivered through comms and static. [break][break]

"Who's captain here?" he asked, mockingly as his Gyarados lets out another roar behind him. [break][break]

[attr="class","text"] Silently, his own pokemon worked to keep watch over the ship as it sailed steadily toward the island. Indra, aboard. Pepper, under the surface. The feraligatr was swimming in and around the larger, more buoyant wailmer. It was as if the two pokemon could sense their trainer’s agitation of being on the open water.[break][break]

But it was fine. They’d run ashore soon, and he’d be back on ground. Or able to take up his preferred position in the air.[break][break]

Or that was supposed to be the case until a fuckin’ animatronic dropped out of the air from the back of an attacking gyarados. In a flash, the alolan raichu was back at Lam’s side to hover defensively as the gym leader stepped forward to cut the intruder off before he could get further on deck. Silently, he hoped that the feraligatr was circling back to meet the disruption in the water.[break][break]

Who’s captain here?[break][break]

Lam’s shoulders rose and fell nonchalantly, eyes shifting past the masked man toward the gyarados for only a beat before returning. Playful inflection thinly veiling the decisive obstinance. “Not you!”[break][break]

Indra flitted around him, constructing a LIGHT SCREEN intended to shield the rest of the ship’s crew.

Gamma was indeed circling for the disruption, despite hovering above the boat for a few seconds. Neon waves off his partner who slides into the water depths quick and with a splash. "Not yet!" He said back, playful tone carrying a darker undertone as his casual stance shifted. [break][break]

"You got hands, onion head?" he asked as he reached for another pokeball before tossing it in front of him. Out of the light comes out a Bisparh who's eyes turn to the floating Raichu. "Keep 'em busy, Benny." The Bisharp nods, before rushing the Alolan
Raichu. Neon follows, and they split, with Neon going for Lam to attack and his pokemon focusing on the pokemon.

[attr="class","text"] “Onion head?” his nose wrinkles in distaste. “Surely you can come up with something more clever than that.” His attention darts between the intruder and his new pokemon, and a snap of his fingers sends Indra forward. The raichu floats on the support of his tail, cheeks charging with electricity as he sends an ELECTRO BALL hurtling toward the bisharp—attempting to keep his distance from the sharp-edged opponent.[break][break]
Lam, meanwhile, isn’t exactly keen to go fisticuffs with this brightly masked stranger, so when he ducks forward, the gym leader darts to the side.[break][break]
Somewhere under the surface of the water, his feraligatr pursues the gyarados who dove into the depths. Eyes glowing with ferocity as she embraces the thrill of the hunt of a much bigger fish.

"You don't like it, you mean?" he asked, electronic grin unflinching. "I love spring onions!" he said with a laugh. Benny raises his arms in front defensively as the ELECTRO BALL goes flying and pushes him back. [break][break]

As he moves back in ready to SLASH at the Alolan Raichu, the boat shakes as nearby a HYPER BEAM shoots out of the water lightning up the immediate vicinty. Specifically, under water as Gamma looks for her prey. Though a smidge incapcitated, it didn't matter, she catchees sight- a blur of her would be opponent and gives chase. [break][break]

The side step is fast, and Neon tries to catch him, following the arc of his punch and dropping down into a side sweeping kick. He lketso ut an auto tuned grunt, before pushing off the ground to get back o his feet. "They're- huff- good diced and fried!"

[attr="class","text"] “Not the most creative, is all I’m saying!” Lam shrugs, seemingly nonchalant, though he’s void of any genuine playfulness in a space like this. The lightheartedness that would’ve been familiar to Mint as experienced in their gym match has no place here.[break][break]
Indra takes the slash—a bright bloom of red tracing a line down his hind leg as he attempts to sail away. But he twists back at a distance and reaches across the space with aggressive PSYCHIC energy to propel the bisharp further back. The boat rocks with the blast the crests out of the water, but Lam’s feraligatr is unafraid of the pursuit. She twists back toward the might serpent with jaws wide. Frost freezes the water under the surface as the reptile surges forward and sinks ICE FANGS into the gyarados’ flank.[break][break]
Though he dodged the punch, he isn’t able to slip around the kick—it catches his ankle in a good and he spins out as his feet come out from under him. “Fan of foodplay then, blueberry?” he wheezes as he rolls across the deck and then staggers back to his feet.[break][break]
“Can’t say I’m a fan, though,” he continues as he finally gives up the gun and fights back, attempting to lock his arms into a grapple. “Think I’d like to stay in one piece.”

"Who said I'm trying to be?" he chirped back, all too cheery despite the fact that he was trying to pummel Lam into his own boat desk. It's a shame he had to face Lam after their gym battle, but he couldn't control his opponents in battle. If he was smart, he wouldn't have to kill him. Just intimidate him enough to make him turn tail. [break][break]

Benny's launched backwards and only just barely dodges falling into the water by dragging sharp blades into the desk of the boat and slowing his toss. As the trainers do battle, the Pawniard drags itself up before darting right back at the surfing Raichu stubbornly. It's blades glow a dark green as it attempt to throw back a FURY CUTTER at the Alolan Raichu. [break][break]

Under the fatigue of the HYPER BEAM, Gamma's opponent is lured in but she's unable to counterattack. A garbled roar sounds from under water as the ICE FANG strikes true and the Gyarados flails around in the Feraligatr's grip. [break][break]

Neon tries his best to keep on top of Lam, slamming a punch futilely into the desk as Lam rolls away. "Shit!" Neon hissed before looking for his opponent. "Callin' me sweet, are you?" he called ack, trying to stay focused, stay playful despite the low pain tolerance. [break][break]

"Huh?!" is all he managed at Lam slides past him and tries to grapple him while their pokemon duke it out. Mint's arms are up fists at his neck to keep himself from getting choked. "Fuck- buy me dinner first!" he complained, electronic voice nearing static ass he screeched.

There probably are people he knows playing for the other team right now. He’d rather not know.[break][break]
Indra lets out a flurry of squeaks as he’s battered back by the slicing cuts leveled at him. The bisharp’s speed catches it up, and soon the mouse’s fur is streaked with bright blooms of red. In a flash of light, he’s recalled–no matter how willing the alolan raichu was to continue, it’s Lam who’s unwilling to take the risk.[break][break]
Instead, a weavile takes Indra’s place, and it comes hurtling out of the pokeball with sharp claws that slash back with dark energy (NIGHT SLASH).[break][break]
Lam barely has the time to make the swap while still fielding moves from the other. “Maybe kinda tarty actually.” It comes out like a dry, unbothered observation.[break][break]
His hands meet the rocket’s forearms in the struggle to get a hold on him. It’s not like he’s trying to throttle the guy, he’s not that intense. It’s more of an attempt to take his feet out from under him as he hooks a foot around blue dude’s ankle and yanks back. “I’d rather get to a different dinner later in one piece, so thanks, but no thanks.”[break][break]
Despite the sheer size of the gyarados, Pepper holds fast, teeth sinking harder to its scaly side. As power builds in the back of her throat, she finally releases her jaws and lets the HYDRO PUMPblast at close range, the force of the underwater jettison propelling her backward.[break][break]

The Bisharp is battered back, not expecting the swap out before he could try to land a killing blow. Blades meet, and for a moment Benny is held back as he registered what had just happened, but is ready after a second to continue the fight. [break][break]

Neon for his part yelps, feeling himself slip and slam on the deck. He manages to hit his ass first to keep from getting all the air pushed out of his chest but...well, he's still hurting. Still, he juts out his leg up towards Lam's hips, trying to keep him back. "Aww, that's cute. You think you're gonna be on time for a dinner date~" Neon mocked. [break][break]

Gamma struggles, too tired too move but the sudden force of the HYDRO PUMP pushing her into deeper waters both relieves her of her burden, and pissed her off. It takes her a couple of seconds to recover before the Gyarados is swimming with a second wind. She bursts to the ocean, screaming and looking for the Feraligatr before deciding to pick off the next best thing as she sees her trainer struggling on the deck. [break][break]

Gamma roars bending and curling around the boat before snapping her jaws whole around the SNEASEL. Benny is frozen in place. He doesn't know if Gamma can even tell what she's doing in this rage. [break][break]

"Uh oh, my girl's gone wild!!" Neon said in a sing songy voice.

[attr="class","text"]“Sarcasm,” he replied cheerfully. Well, sort of. He would’ve liked to be leaving this battle for a dinner date in a timely fashion. But as far as he was aware, Lam wasn’t about to even get off this stupid island any time quick. “‘Least I have someone to go to dinner with,” he adds after a moment, trying to back step enough to avoid getting kicked in places he’d rather avoid. He still takes a boot to the knee, though, and staggers.[break][break]
Pepper, propelled back by the force of her attack, is given the breadth she needs to regroup, but is still royally pissed. The gator swims in a mad dash after the gyarados. Though not quick enough for the sudden crash of the sea dragon onto the ship’s deck.[break][break]
It happens faster than he can keep up with. In one moment, his weavile is firing off a DARK PULSE of malevolent energy at the bisharp, and in the next she is shadowed by the gigantic size of the gyarados. She doesn’t even have time to utter a cry before she is swallowed whole between the snap of gnashing jaws.[break][break]
Lam doesn’t have a clever reply to the jab. His brain is lagging as he tries to process what just happened. “Holy shit.”[break][break]
The feraligatr joins the mayhem, barreling over the ship rails, thrashing and sliding on the slick, wooden deck with ferocious energy. With Lam’s weavile out of the picture, Pepper barrels forward with jaws open, another bout of ICE FANGS looking to sink into the first pokemon she finds so that she can rip and tear with the manic force of a poochyena playing with a squeaky toy.[break][break]
He leans away from the writhing bulk of his own pokemon, a more confused “Pepper—holy shit??” following.

"Aww you have one person," Neon cooed back, unaffected in the slightest. He does not reveal the long list of AMIGO matches he was still working through late after the summer. He also refrains from even breathing a word about Lam or his profile. [break][break]

But that's all he says on the matter as Gamma not only rampages, but so does her opponent. As the Sneasel disappears, the Feraligatr takes Benny the Bisharp by surprise, and in his weakened state he's taken by her and thrown around. Blades break and snap from being so worn during the conflict so far. Neon half expected the Sneasel to still be there, and what he'd just witnessed to be the effects of some dream mist floating off the island. [break][break]

She gives Benny no rest either, confusing and eventually sickening the pokemon with the force of her shaking. Gamma roars at the sky as she finsihed her meal and Neon givesa glance at Lam. "Oh...that's not normal for you?" he asked. Something between the pair of pokemon had set them both off it seemed. He tries to call back Gamma but she seems intent on fighting the Feraligatr so Neon obliges. She's weak, and fighting on pure rage and instinct. [break][break]

As the Gyarados thrashes around, destroying everything nearby, Neon backs up. "I think that's my cue to bounce. Later, @lam!" he said popping a pair of peace signs and making his way to the opposite edge of the boat from the feral pokemon. Gamma is busy, smashing body and head on nearby boats and structures screaming widely and roaring. She finally focuses her vision on the Feraligatr and TERASTALIZES into a Water Tera before she uses her head to try to bat away the water type into the deck. [break][break]

As the Beast gets ready to jump ship, Gamma lets out one last shriek as she loses her second wind and begins sliding into the ocean. "Nice one." he said with a laugh, returning his fainting leviathan into her pokeball before jumping overboard.

But it’s better to avoid the sting of disappointment that might inevitably follow.[break][break]
Not that it matters, getting into the details of it, when Pepper is busy savaging the bisharp she latches onto. Both feraligatr and gyarados stirred into a frenzy from their own conflict and taking it out on the other pokemon in the vicinity. “How would that be normal??” he blurts back. Obviously he doesn’t make it a habit for his Pokémon to brutalize someone else’s.[break][break]
Though, today… Pepper has proven to be pretty adept at that.[break][break]
It seems she’s met her match, though. As she discards the limp body of the bisharp with one last snap of her jaws, the gyarados pulses with shimmering light and the smashing hit from the crystallized swing of her body is enough to drop the feraligatr on impact.[break][break]
All that chaos, for what? The masked man makes his departure, and Lam scrambles after him, leaning over the rails. “Hey, wait—!” But there’s no sign of him once he hits the water, downed gyarados in tow. And Lam doesn’t really have the roster to even attempt at following.[break][break]
With a sigh he returns Pepper to her ball, and heads for the door that goes below deck to check on the stowed away crew. Crisis averted—for now, anyway.
