Haina Desert - Pokemon Sun & Moon

A VAST DESERT LANDSCAPE dotted with rocky structures and monoliths. Curiously, they almost seem humanmade, though there are no signs of people here. Shrubbery and turquoise crystals are encrusted throughout the bright and sweltering dryland. Occasionally, you may stumble upon rocky terrain that is difficult to traverse.[break][break]

Mysterious obelisks with missing seals are situated throughout the desert. No one knows why they exist, or who made them.

however, your party must determine which species (pheromosa or buzzwole) will "win" or have "gained the upperhand" and note it during archival.[break][break]

by the end, everyone may capture one PHEROMOSA or BUZZWOLE (one or the other, not both).

Yumi screamed, then ran. The sight of the ruined BUZZWOLE carcass, torn apart by Mandibuzz, revolted her. Every animal instinct told her to flee, so she obeyed, heading for the deeper desert. Nevermind that night had fallen and total darkness suffused every inch of the landscape.[break][break]

At least her Scream Tail followed, determined to keep her mistress safe.[break][break]

Suddenly, the ground gave way beneath them. Quicksand engulfed them, pulling them into a tunnel similar to the one she and Danny had traversed before. Sand got into her nose, eyes, and mouth; she emerged on the other side coughing and crying, her body expelling the particles in the ways it knew how.[break][break]

"Tamahime?" Yumi called out. Her Scream Tail responded at once, reassuring her that she was not alone. But—"Danny? Danny?!"[break][break]

In her flight, she'd forgotten about him.[break][break]

but it's no use. her screams grow quieter and quieter the further she gets, leaving him having to chase after her in a realm unknown and dangerous.

he manages to catch a glimpse of the quicksand and follows her in, being pulled down under before emerging on the other side. he lands on his feet somehow.

"yumi! are you okay?"

stepping up to her, he quickly looks around them to find that they've somehow managed to fall into an immense vault.

Danny's appearance brought immediate relief. Yumi willed herself to calm down, though her heart continued its mad race in her chest. "I'm okay!" she replied, rising to her feet.[break][break]

Mirroring her companion, she looked around the dark chamber. No light entered from above, so she pulled out her phone and turned on the flashlight. As soon as she laid eyes on what surrounded them, she gasped.[break][break]

Ancient treasure piled high, nearly to the ceiling: dust-laden goblets, amphorae with intricate carvings, cut gems scattered loosely amid small mounds of gold coins. Chests and dressers sat closed against the walls, along with weapons and armor of all kinds.[break][break]

Strangely, among the priceless artifacts lay the MUMMIFIED remains of what seemed like small Pokémon.[break][break]

"What is this place?" Yumi whispered, more in awe than fear.[break][break]

Turning, she pointed her flashlight toward one end of the cavernous space. A block of stone stood upon a raised platform with strange inscriptions carved into its sides. Upon closer inspection, she noticed a thin line running parallel to the top of the stone.[break][break]

A lid.[break][break]

It was not a block, but a tomb.[break][break]

it is not the only tomb they find. as he points his flashlight around, he comes across a few more, though these look far less regal and more common.

like a dummy, he pries one open and peers in.

"they look...like us?"

Yumi joined Danny at the smaller tomb. The mummified body resting within certainly looked human, but in the light of their flashlights, she spied a hint of triangular teeth lining its jaws. She shuddered, gripped with an animal fear that told her she did not want to know what the person might have eaten in life.[break][break]

Still, an object tucked in the corpse's arm caught her eye. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she reached out and gently removed what looked like an old notebook. But it wasn't an ancient thing on the verge of crumbling dust; it was simply old and worn, as if well-used.[break][break]

When she opened it, she understood why. Notes in meticulous handwriting covered every page, from cover to cover.[break][break]

"Wait, I can read this," Yumi said, eyes widening with the revelation. "It's information about this world. Climate, land formations, the Ultra Beasts that live here…"[break][break]

She handed it to Danny. "Here. Take a look."

and as she hands the book to danny, he reads it, curious as ever.

"from what i can gather...it seems like only ultra beasts lived here. so where did they come from?" he gestures at the coffins.

Yumi shook her head. "I don't know. But maybe that book explains it. We can bring that back for one of the scientists to study."[break][break]

She stepped away and scanned the chamber for an exit. "In the meantime, let's get out of this place. It's killing my vibe. Tamahime, can you lead the way?"[break][break]

Eventually, they found a narrow corridor full of dust and cobwebs. After following it for a while, the ground started sloping upward, and a faint breeze suggested the surface was near. But with it came a strange noise, one that had Yumi frowning as it grew louder.[break][break]

"I wonder what that is," she mused aloud. The rocky tunnel had widened into a small cave, its mouth open to the star-studded sky.

Sure enough, a battlefield spread before them. A group of Pheromosa clashed with a group of Buzzwole, their attacks illuminating the desert around them. Yumi watched, entranced, until a few fighters from each group broke off and rushed toward the cave from which she and Danny had just exited.[break][break]

"They're coming this way," she hissed, grabbing her companion's wrist and pulling him away from the cave.[break][break]

Unfortunately, her tactic to avoid notice did not work. Screeching, a Pheromosa launched a LOW KICK at Yumi.[break][break]

A quick BOOMBURST from Tamahime, however, stopped the Ultra Beast from injuring the woman. It also knocked back several of the other Pokémon who'd swarmed too close.[break][break]

"Thanks," Yumi said to her Scream Tail, though she couldn't hear much else over the pounding of her heart in her ears.[break][break]

Then, as an afterthought, she threw an empty Pokéball to capture the Pheromosa.[break][break]
