you remember waking up in the middle of the night to sounds of screaming coming from the adjacent room. you knew what it was, and yet, you did nothing. you were just a kid, but maybe you could've done something. said something. but you didn't. you felt scared.[break][break]

you remember being expelled from the academy because you couldn't keep up with the rest of the class. you consistently failed time and time again. his face spoke of disappoint and rage, and his actions reflected it. you felt pain.[break][break]

you remember when your growlithe failed to evolve despite the fire stone you gave it. you saw the pain in its eyes as its inability to evolve caused it to fall victim in a gruesome battle. you felt guilt.[break][break]

you remember the first time you killed a man. they said it was a test of loyalty, but you knew it meant more than that. his eyes were on you at all times. you knew what one wrong move meant. one pull of the trigger, and you felt powerless.[break][break]

you remember thinking the world was good despite all the bad that was around you. you had faith. but it was beat out of you; not immediately, but gradually, spanning years until there was was nothing left. you felt broken.[break][break]

you remember pulling the trigger again, but this time, you felt nothing.[break][break]

you were never in control of your life; every decision you ever made, every action you chose, you did it because you were told. because you needed to. you rebelled for as long as your body and mind could handle, but eventually, violence won. violence always wins. somewhere along the line you realized as much, and instead of fighting it, you embraced it.[break][break]

rocket had always had an influence over kanto, but not over the whole region. under your father's reign, rocket was seen as a gang of thugs who stole only for profit, nothing else. obsessed with money and power, your father was never satisfied with what he had; which is a trait you share, unfortunately. but, he was scared of failure. every attempt he did to expand ended poorly. time after time the league stepped in and intervened, successfully combating his tactics. it all ended the same way: with him taking it out on you.[break][break]

you were pushed to the brink of insanity, and so, one year ago, you tried to regain your sanity. there was a reason why your father never succeeded: he was old-fashioned. despite the atrocities he committed, he wouldn't cross the line of violence because that wasn't how he was raised. he was taught to respect the laws of life and the boundaries that accompanied it. you didn't share the same belief because it was beat out of you.[break][break]
