Of course, even the greatest plans have hitches. Not that this was a great plan. It was basically the type of plan anyone with a working brain could come up with. But since it was simple, it was more likely to work than an overly complicated plan.

So when the guy pushed past Sterling to continue on, he didn't even pause in stride, continuing after the guy. He would catch up to the troublemaker outside and see that Sterling had nabbed him, but he knew their window was closing. So, before the guy could recover enough from his surprise to pull away from Sterling, he grabbed him by the arm.

"You're not going anywhere. I'm sure the police would love to hear how you and your friends are trying to serve alcohol to minors," he said, addressing Sterling without taking his eyes off the guy.

the young man is truly busted now. sterling he could handle, but both ever and sterling, as well as their pokemon, having hold means he's got nowhere to run. that doesn't mean he's not going to complain, though. "it was just a harmless prank!" he protests. "come on, man!"

sterling shakes their head. "someone could have gotten hurt," they scold. "it's not harmless." if you're going to serve alcohol to minors, at least do it in a safe space where they know what they're getting into, sterling thinks.

they pull out their phone and dial a number. normally they absolutely despise phone calls, but the adrenaline carries them through this dreaded activity this time. they explain what happened, and within minutes an officer is pulling up to the function, ready to take the party-goer into their vehicle. sterling watches them go, withdrawing their kirlia for now.

"b-back to work... i guess." the rest of the night will prove uneventful.
