Lam let out a breath as he stepped through the gates of the safari zone. His puffy jacket was unzipped - the fall air cool, but not frigidly so, and his arm was hung in a sling. As comfortably as an arm stuck in a cast could be. Having left the island and its skirmish and territory battles, he felt like finally he could take a real breath again. just outside of lilycove, wandering through the safari zone, he felt like maybe he could grasp some sense of normalcy again. like he could finally feel calm again.

A rocky outcrop rose up alongside the path. Lam didn't recall it being there the last time he'd visited the safari zone. But the closer he drew to it, he realized that it was actually a resting stonjourner. As he passed, Lam reached out to pat one heavy, rocky leg. "Felt, dude." He needed the rest too. Figuring he wouldn't mind some calmer company, his sprigatito was released from her pokeball to scamper alongside of him.

his walk continued comfortably, an easy pace set as he meandered. in the time since his arm was bound up, he'd exercised little beyond these simple sorts of walks. but that was probably all he could really do just then anyway. after all that fighting and traveling the tiny island, he'd run out of steam. still, it was easy to feel a bit restless when he was used to being pretty active. lam watched a baltoy spinning across the ground with curiosity before it disappeared into some bushes and out of sight.

The bright hues of a sigilyph drifting by snagged Lam’s attention. Rather than attempt to snag its attention, he quietly released his Psyduck and pointed. Peaches, though, was a bit too loud and her quacks drew the territorial pokemon. Luckily, it was rallied a bit too late, as the Psyduck knocked it back into the safari ball Lam threw by a jettisoned HYDRO PUMP.

"Good job, Peaches," he praises easily, to the psyduck's delight. She chatters happily, toddling after him with the safari ball between her flipper paws (?). He takes it from her and sends her ahead to take on a larvesta next - the smaller bug standing no chance against the smack of the psyduck's AQUA TAIL.

He followed Peaches down to the shore like, content to let the psyduck wade in the shallow water to her heart's content. Unexpectedly, something rose to the surface, causing her to flail backward with a series of startled quacks. The poor relicanth was just checking the scene out, but the reaction caused Lam to throw a safari ball out of instinct. It snapped the fish inside, and he sighed as he shook his head at the now-confused psyduck as she looked back at him with a tilt of her head.

Eventually he ushered the Psyduck back out of the water so that they could head back toward the main gate. On the way, though, something crossed their path and he stopped down to see the funky little bug pushing its dirt clod(?) along the path. “Huh.” Lam mused aloud as he fished one last safari ball from his pocket and tried gently tapping it.
