Before, the sting of his words would've struck Penelope's heart like a pushpin. But now, instincts drew her to response with the fluidity of a woman without a sense of doubt.

"Maybe," she sighed, the frost of winter biting at her cheeks and nose, pinching them a deep hue of red. "But then I'd have to reveal my underground, below-the-radar favorite hot chocolate spots. Not sure you're ready for that."

Just like this, through gentle swings of conversation, Penelope could feel the cheer returning to her decrypted body. Much like the coffee infecting her veins, it sent her for a whirl, allowing the very idea of responsibility to momentarily vanish from existence.

That is until CIAN MAHER decided to ruin the mood.

"You mean the Holiday party I'm hosting?" She quirked an eyebrow, trying to lessen the inevitable blow with a dash of deflection. "I would love to, but, you know, with everything going on..." Her hand made vague gesture in the air. "I might be a too distracted."
