The grassy field seemed to undulate in the afternoon wind and Jack could not help from smiling. Though his shoulder ached and half-healed wounds across his body constantly reminded him of their presence, the crisp autumn air reminded him of kinder memories in a far off Galar. He stood amidst the grass with Watts sitting patiently by him, reveling in the brief respite he was being provided when he noticed he wasn't alone. Nearby, a Stonjourner stood watching the sun as it began to descent from its zenith.[break][break]

Jack's smile widened at the silent camaraderie and he tossed an empty safari ball at the pokemon.

The tall grass swayed almost hypnotically in the wind as Jack trudged through the field toward a rocky outcropping in the distance. From further ahead, Watts' head could occasionally be seen breaking through the top of the grass as he leapt through the field. Jack quickly pulled his camera to his eye and snapped several shots the next time he caught the Boltund jumping.[break][break]

Jack stood still, waiting with camera ready for another shot of his leaping companion when the grass around him swirled apart and a spinning Baltoy emerged.[break][break]

"Sorry, mate. Didn't mean to disturb ya," Jack murmured as he stepped away from the clay doll pokemon and headed after Watts.

Jack slowly closed the gap between himself and the locations where Watts would pop his head above the grass as he jumped. A rocky outcropping loomed ahead of them and Watts was kind enough to slow down and allow his trainer to catch up. When Jack finally parted some grass to find Watts staring at him with his tongue out and his tail wagging, a smile broke across the man's face. As he reached down to pet the Boltund, a shadow passed over them, catching his attention.[break][break]

A Sigilyph soared above them, it's shadow crossing back and forth across the undulating. Jack made a shushing motion to his Boltund as they crept away, careful to avoid being noticed.

Jack and Watts crouched down in the grass and hurried away toward the shadow of a rocky outcropping, hoping to avoid catching its attention. As they passed into the cool shadows, Jack straightened and scanned the sky to confirm that they had indeed avoided noticed. Heaving a sigh of relief, he glanced down at Watts only to find that the Boltund was not at his side. Instead, Jack found him hopping on his front paws and wagging his tail near the base of the rock.[break][break]

"Did you find a new friend?" Jack asked as he approached, finding a Larvesta staring at the enthusiastic Boltund. Jack patted Watts on the head and rolled a pokeball toward the torch pokemon carefully.

The shadow cast by the rocky outcrop provided a pleasant coolness that was a welcome break from the early afternoon sun. Jack and Watts walked along in the shade with no particular destination in mind when the sound of running water caught Watts' attention. The Boltund pranced ahead, disappearing into the stone head. Jack jogged to catch up, finding his pokemon waiting at the entrance to a narrow cave opening when water could be heard.[break][break]

"Oh, an adventure!" Jack exclaimed as he slipped into the opening and lit a torch.[break][break]

A short distance back, the cave terminated in a large, dark pool filled by water rushing from an artesian spring. Searching the cave, Jack could find no place where the water could be draining to so he assumed it was somehow connected underground to the nearby sea. While Jack searched the small cavern, Watts stepped up to the edge of the pool and barked loudly at the water. As Jack leaned over to look, a large Relicanth surfaced and Jack was quick to toss one of his safari balls before it could escape.

Stepping back out of the cave, Jack felt his shoulders relax. He had been correct, the Safari Zone was a nice distraction from everything else going on in his life. He scanning the sky to check for the Sigilyph before stepping out into the sunshine and heading down a rocky bath toward the exit.[break][break]

Watts raced back and forth up the path, sending off sparks from his paws and Jack couldn't help but be amused. While Watts was far up the path and Jack's thoughts had turned inward, the grass on the side of the path parted as a Rellor pushed its sphere out onto the path. Jack watched for a bit before deciding to toss his last safari ball at the pokemon before heading back to the exit.
