Bright gray clouds covered the sun and diffused its light, turning it into a slate of off-white that hurt his eyes to look at. The mist rolling and shifting over it changes its hue ever so slightly.

Memo wondered if the Dream Mist came in different flavors.

“Have you dealt with this stuff before?” he asked the other Ranger assigned to the task of stopping up this seam of hallucinatory gas before it got out of control along with him.

Having already been battered and bruised by another such font of dream mist, he was quickly running out of tolerance for the stuff.

"It sucks and I hate it," he added, very bravely.

It seemed almost an impossible task, to try and contain the mists that rolled around in the bowels of the island, but for everything that it brought on, it was necessary to try. There was a report of a leak of it on the surface, and on their side of territory lines no less, so of course rangers were sent out to try and find a way to minimize exposure.[break][break]
Moving along the island, Daikenki beside her, Yuina was tasked with another ranger, one whom she'd had yet to meet. He spoke of his disdain for the mists that were on the island, and she couldn't say that she felt that much different than he did...[break][break]
"The mist itself has never been the issue... It's what's inside the mist, what it brings..." she remarked, haunted herself from having dealt with it in spades while being issued one recon mission after another. Whether it be those monsters that loomed within its depths, or the monsters inside one's self that it brought out... The mist was hardly something Yuina enjoyed being tasked with...

It seemed like every time they closed one of these seams up another opened somewhere else. If he’d had his druthers, he’d have put the League’s best minds to work finding out where it came from and then personally volunteer to go wherever that was and wipe it off the face of the universe.

He swept his sweaty locs back from his forehead. That was a little bloodthirsty for him. But man, was he sick of this shit.

“I guess. But no mist, no monsters-- dream or otherwise,” he pointed out, feeling a little bit petulant and being a little too tired to care.

His Lucario was carrying around a gigantic boulder she’d broken off some nearby rock face, and with a heave, she dropped it into the dream canyon, to try and help stop it up.

“Sure,” Memo said, weakly, before looking to his human partner for this mission and asking, “Unless, you have any ideas? I just generally throw earth on top of it ‘till it stops.”

The point made, Yuina couldn't argue with the lack of mist there would be a lack of the monsters that lurked within its depths... So there wasn't really room to argue on their motive here. The canine that he had with him carried a large boulder and tossed it with its strength to attempt to begin to close of the mist slowly swirling into the air. Sure, that could work, after enough boulders and rocks to close it all in...[break][break]
"Hmm, I don't know that it can really be contained, but something more solid than a bunch of rocks might do the trick," Yuina wondered, taking out a recent capture of hers, one that dwelled within the depths of the island. She hadn't anticipated on capturing one of these things, and had no frame of reference on what it truly was, to her it was just another Pokemon given the swarms of them that skulked through the tunnels below.[break]
From her Pokeball, she released the Heatran that rumbled and stood upright on its hefty four legs.[break][break]
"Molten rock and cooled magma might do something," she offered.

Yuina doesn’t have a counter for his logic and he scores that one as a Memo was right point. He takes those where he can get them because they are usually, it seemed, few and far between.

The woman pulls out a Heatran and suggests implementing magma. Memo and his Lucario share a wide-eyed look, then glance down to the paltry boulders Freya’d managed to hurl into the crater, and back up again.

“Yeah,” he said, scurrying away so that he was out of the line of fire for any magma flow, “do that.”

The Heatran lumbered forward on its four legs, rumbling with a deep growl as smoke poured from its slightly open maw. Yuina glanced from the large lava monster to her partner, and it seemed that this option garnered his approval as he opted for using magma and molten rock to close up the break where the mists were seeping from.[break][break]
"We'll need more rock, if your Pokemon can bring it by, and we'll be through with this in no time," Yuina returned, stepping back as the Heatran rumbled again, stepping closer and digging up some rock and pebble into its mouth. Almost as if it were eating the sediment, its body began to glow and emit an intense heat and then opened its maw to release a bubbling seething stream of lava down onto the boulders that had been gathered.

“Got it,” Memo said, in unison with Freya’s thumbs up. The Lucario set about bringing over more boulders and various bits of earth and slag, allowing for the molten lava to sluice through them and seal up the dream rupture like runny glue.

“That’s a whole lotta firepower,” Memo said as he stood by and summarily did very little to help, at all. (What was he gonna do? Stand there and get lava’d to death?). “It’s funny, my boyfriend just brought one of those home, too. No Heatrans and then suddenly all the Heatrans.”

Keeping up the pace, as his canine brought in more boulders, the lava monster continued to shovel rock and sediment into its mouth to maintain its internal heat. The lava flowed nicely over the rocks and boulders that were placed into the crevice, and as it seemed that they had a good coverage, it was time to seal it all.[break][break]
"Okay, Daikenki, but be careful," Yuina remarked, taking a handful of steps back as the Samurott moved forward and started to spray water along the surface of the lava, releasing plumes of steam into the air.[break][break]
"Hmm, Heatran, is that what it's called? There sure are a lot of them in the tunnels beneath the island... But they don't come from the mist like those other monsters do," Yuina wondered at his words, she hadn't yet heard what they were called, but she could swear that she knew its shape, those yellow eyes, like she had seen one before in such a far away place...

“Yeah, Heatran,” Memo said, watching with a small smile as the lava flowed and began to cool, blocking up the dream mist and sealing the earthen rift from whence it came.

He slid a hand into his sweaty locs and sighed, feeling like he was missing out on a whole lot of anxiety, and wondering when it was gonna come swinging in and punch him in the gut. “They sure made this a hell of a lot easier.”
