A CHRISTMAS CAROL

THROUGHOUT SEVERAL COLD NIGHTS IN DECEMBER, while you're fast asleep in the safety of their bed—whatever their "bed" may be—an UNOWN-D emerges alongside a lithe man clad in black. He holds a coin, tossing it upwards before catching it in a constant cycle.[break][break]

"Maldacena put me up to this. Don't care if you know them or not. Not my job."[break][break]

You may have heard of this man. A member of The DRK Triad, a shadow organization of assassins targeting Avatars and other meddling forces to prevent the multiverse from collapsing. The DRK Triad claim your world, your Hoenn, is responsible for the end of all things—and wish to see it destroyed.[break][break]



A portal emerges before you, conjured by the UNOWN-D; however, it possesses a curious blue tint.[break][break]

"But we're giving you a chance to change the course of history. Mess around in the timeline. Be selfish. This might be your only chance to right wrongs, get what you really deserve, or to learn something new." The man taunts. He places his hand over his chest, the coin pressed between his palm and heart. "You'll return home, I swear. We need you alive for this."[break][break]

He goes on to explain that entering the portal will allow you to access any point in their history, lived or yet to live. He claims that you will be teleported back after a set period of time. Safe and sound.[break][break]

If you decline, "Father Winter" forces the portal upon you anyway, thrusting you into the chaos of time.

RULES & GUIDELINES

OOC EXPECTATIONS

WHEN YOUR CHARACTER ENTERS THE PORTAL, they will be thrust into a point in their timeline.[break][break]

This event plays upon the idea of BRANCHING TIMELINES. Ultimately, your characters will cause the timeline to branch as soon as they interfere with the temporal point they find themselves in.[break][break]

Unbeknownst to your characters, The DRK Triad is attempting to gather data from these branching timelines, identifying fixed points, unseen possibilities, failings or anomalies within the dimensional constitution of the multiverse, etc.[break][break]

The specific point that they are transported to is up to you, but must follow ONE OF THE FOLLOWING PATHS:

THE UNOWN OF POKEYULE PAST[break]
Your character ventures into a point in their past.

THE UNOWN OF POKEYULE PRESENT[break]
Your character ventures into a point in the "present" (within 2023).

THE UNOWN OF POKEYULE FUTURE[break]
Your character ventures into a point in their future.

You are allowed to choose EVENTS such as THE SLATEPORT INVASION, METENO and BLOOD, MUD & IRON to set your thread in.[break][break]

If set in the past, the selected point in your character's timeline does not need to have a published, referenceable thread on the site. For example, if your character had a life in Kanto before Team Rocket's coup d'état, the thread can be set then.[break][break]

If set in the future, the selected point in your character's timeline can be crafted by you (e.g. a final confrontation between the League and Team Rocket at Ever Grande City, the 'Ruination'), etc. You can take advantage of the idea that the timeline has branched to craft more fantastical future events without fear of being inaccurate.

INSTRUCTIONS

TO PARTICIPATE, please heed the following instructions:[break][break]

• Choose ONE OF YOUR CHARACTERS who have written a Letter to Father Winter the 2nd to participate in this event. This limitation may be subject to change.

• Create a thread in the ALTERNATE UNIVERSE board.
[break]


• Include a thread tag: (FW2).
[break]


• You are allowed to DOUBLE POST/POST CONSECUTIVELY in your thread. Spam posting for quick pokedollars is prohibited.[break][break]
  
  Practice dividing your posts for narrative and logistical reasons (e.g. scenes, flow, clarity, etc.).
[break]


• You can take advantage of temporal shenanigans to have your character experience the consequences of their meddling of the timeline within their newly created branch of time (e.g. you shoot Commissioner Goode in the head; what consequences occur from this and how does your character involve themselves?).

• OTHER CHARACTERS/PLAYERS CAN PARTICIPATE in your threads if permitted. Consider cameo appearances or a companion characters encountered in your chosen point in the timeline.

• If you want a JOINT FATHER WINTER THREAD, you will need to have your characters encounter Father Winter the 2nd at the same time, same place.
[break]


• If including other characters/players, you MUST ASK THEIR PERMISSION. You have free license to use NPCs like dahlia goode or declan walsh (e.g. shooting Commissioner Goode or Boss Walsh in the head).

• At the end of your thread, your character will be teleported back to where Father Winter the 2nd had encountered them first. No changes to the site's timeline will stick.[break][break]
  
  However, one of their Pokemon will be able to learn the move, FUTURE SIGHT, regardless of whether it is in their moveset or not, as a sign of your character's adventure.

• There is no minimum post limit. However, thoughtfulness must be evident in the thread in order for characters to receive their rewards.
