she finds herself existing in an uncertainty - what is too much of their new relationship? what crosses the line?

she idly swirls wine around in her glass, watching the way it sloshes against its confines.

it's a half-truth, if she stops to really think about it, but it works all the same.

it's a noble goal, one he shares as well, but their approaches are vastly different. the scale she operates on is far wider than his. where he confines himself to the region, she opens herself to the worlds.[break][break]

she's in too deep, perhaps, to see the warning signs and the consequences of meddling in matters she doesn't understand. he's seen it too, hasn't he? in the wilds, in rifts opened by their own self-preserving morals...

she knows what she saw. she knows what she felt.

and she knows what must be done.

”it’s more than just seeing, alex.”

more than idle pink energy in spatial gaps.

”i felt that a place was altered just by being there. i - i don’t know what to do anymore but it’s not just blind faith anymore.”

she’s in too deep and if she isn’t careful, he’ll watch her drown.

"i do."

blind trust in a god she has only met atop a mountain of tombstones...

"i believe we might be of similar alignments - moreso than one would think, anyway."

a neutrality bred from treading water on both sides of the line. the morally grey area she exists within feels similar to the idle observation of a spatial god.

in the end, though, she isn't so certain either factor would make a difference.

"although, my overly trusting nature has never quite changed, i guess."

shouldn’t it be loved?

hadn’t he moved on? isn’t that why they’re simply friends and nothing more?

confusion and a small, bleak hope take over her chest.

this will be one of them as she expected it to be for devotion is something she is no longer allowed. she had it and she squandered it. this is merely karmic justice unfolding.
