in the past, they have been far too lenient with defectors and deserters, and it is through that leniency that forms the belief that anyone could leave team rocket and be just fine.[break][break]

Peace was a luxury she couldn’t afford. But would she seek it even if she wanted to? The quietness of peace was deafening, and a hunger for chaos was insatiable.

Maybe that’s why she didn’t run. When the thought to move on from this apartment crossed her mind she knew she was ignoring it to her own detriment. Despite her warning to herself, she stayed, just waiting for the day when chaos found her.

When Theo’s deep voice echoed across the room, she wasn’t surprised. That’s why she smiles, a toothy grin gleaming in the faint light of the one fixture above them, “Hmph, what took you so long?”

“Of course,” she sings as if she know exactly what matter happened to be more pressing, “The fact I’m even on your list is an honor,” her dark lips curled into a mocking smile, obviously more annoyed than anything.

Lex’s fingers gripped tighter around the neck of the bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag, “I have unfinished business,” and that’s the depth of detail she was willing to share with the Underboss, “But not with Rocket so you don’t have to worry about little ole me,” she swept over to what constituted the kitchen - really just a small fridge, counter, and single burner stove. She popped the top off the bottle and took a swig before setting it down. She’d probably need to numbing agent, “So . . . you can go,” she tried her luck at shooing him away.

they both know he can't do what she asks of him. he cannot show her leniency as it would then allow others to do the same, and once that foundation is built, he knows it terribly difficult to deconstruct.[break][break]

She knew it wouldn’t be that easy, but it was worth a shot. When he didn’t move and only pressed further, she turned to face him. The bottle found a safe spot on the counter, away from the edge. It freed her hands while maintaining a casual disposition, “It doesn’t matter,” not to anyone except her. She wasn’t about to divulge her deepest desires to a player in the game that exploited them. She didn’t need help, nor another obstacle.

The latter was probably an impossibility given the current situation.

“So what now, Theo? You take me in? You rough me up a bit? You torture me?... Kill me?” She knew he wasn’t here to just talk.

“A waste?” she repeats the implication also without missing a beat. There’s a brightness to her tone that suggests she considers it a joke. Her dark lips even twitch into a half smile.

It’s too late, she already considers herself a tool. That’s all she ever was with Rocket.

Still, she reads between the lines, leaning heavily onto the counter, “So, what? You wanna drag me back to Rocket? Why would I go back? There’s nothing left for me there,” Killian was the only reason she stayed so long.

He doesn’t need to expand on what the alternative may be. It’s true though, people like them are tools. She’s been a tool her whole life, always so complacent with it. Always willing to play her part whether she agreed with it or not. In reality, she was simply Killian’s tool too at first. He just grew to love her. That only made her more valuable. No one in Rocket would grow to love her. Only use her. The alternative is her future anyway.

So, would she rather die a free woman? Or a bound one?

Will she choose to live to pursue her obsessive revenge? Or die without satisfaction?

Or, does she turn the tables and use them to reach her potential and kill the beast that took away the only thing keeping her sane in the world?

That idea wasn’t completely unreasonable.

But then again, Rocket would chew her up and spit her out. She’s not strong enough. Not yet.

Curiosity gets the best of her, “Hmph, what’s in it for me? . . . Besides not dying,” her own life matters little to her anymore.

The blood red lips painting on a pale canvas smirk, a small chuckle oozes through, “I don’t think our career goals really line up. Doesn't make you a good mentor, now does it?” There were some advantages to it though . . . Theo was strong, an excellent fighter. Those are qualities that would only help her in the long run if she wasn’t so stubborn and bitter.

A silence fell after his assumption. Her rather sharp features softened into a contemplative look. Was it revenge? Really? Or was it justice? Did it really matter in the end if the outcome was the same?

“You would help me kill Deoxys?” in a surprising turn of events, she laid her intentions bare. Perhaps it wasn’t as important to keep it a secret, “Me and my problems mean nothing to you. Why would you help me?”

if he has to list out his strengths and unique selling points, then he would have already failed with trying to pull her to his side. Alexandra Briarwood has to realize on her own the benefits she could gain from working for him.[break][break]

Thinking long term is a luxury she couldn’t afford. Theo was living proof of that. If she could even live to extract her revenge that would have already exceeded her expectations.

What goes unsaid is what traps her attention. Her whole body seems to perk up at the implication, leaning forward even with an eager curiosity, “But you know where it is, then? Deoxys.”
