and she can't quite shake the sensation that this place is familiar - whether from the mt chimney incident with groudon's artificial sun or from a faraway dream, she can't be certain.

the more recently familiar face of Roy Aker keeps her grounded enough to stay present as an explosion sounds out behind them. a plume of smoke descends, almost trying to suffocate them.

"quick - take a left!"

her cyclizar rushes forward and she steals a glance over her shoulder to confirm he's following before light is snuffed out by the entrance of a cave. the cyclizar enters quickly before their ends can be met by pyroclastic means, though...

"where the hell are we?"

Everything was moving too fast.

The inner workings of his brain scrambled to compute the necessary information for his current situation. Two peculiar pieces were missing; how he got here and why he was here in the first place. As chunks of both smoke and debris decorate the vicinity, Roy's mind elected survival and all of its necessary elements as a priority.

Like that, Roy was on the move. The cyclizar between his thighs would evade around different obstacles when ordered by heel. Beside him, a friendly face arranged a destination to end the chaos. He followed her command by taking a quick left into the entrance of a cave.

"I don't know, but I think it's our only option."

This was their only means of safety against the ongoing volcano. If Roy had a Kyurem at his disposal instead of a cyclizar, they would already be safe.

However, your sense of security is short-lived. The cave feels odd; a powerful energy radiates from within. Further adventure reveals a Wishing Star embedded in the cave, a piece of Eternatus that has begun to metamorphose the stone around it.[break][break]

[attr="class","illeana i"]smoke blankets the remaining light of the entrance until it's snuffed out entirely, leaving them to explore further within the cavern. somewhere between seconds and minutes, her eyes slowly adjust themselves to minimal light...

at least, they try.

moving deeper into the cave produces two things: a sudden glowing light - red, familiar... - and a sinking feeling of dread.

"careful, it's full of radiation."

in fact, it's similar to that of the ultra deep sea, though it almost feels more nauseating here and now. she attributes it to the density of the wishing star embedded in the cavern's wall, to the way it seems to metamorphize the surrounding rock until it's all glowing a faint red.

she tries to steel her mind, tries to fend off the onslaught of radiation...

As if the erupting volcano wasn't enough, their supposed place of salvation was now the cause of their growing paranoia. A simple stone embedded in the wall emitted a red aura that mirrored the source of their fears. The subtle radiation warped the surroundings, making the draconid feel dizzy. Even breathing became a struggle, as he choked on his own saliva. The fear intensified as they ventured deeper, and Roy felt as if his voice was being stolen from him.

"Where is the way out of here?" he managed to say, his throat tightening. His urgent and demanding tone conveyed his desperation for a solution. For now, Roy would let the scientist guide them out of this cavern of paranoia.

an odd dragon lurches through the heavens up above. her eyes try to trace it, but it's lost amongst the clouds it dons as a cloak.

and at their feet, a sword and shield rest.

she eyes the shield for herself, but she allows him first selection...

The transition makes it difficult for him to breathe. Taking a moment to collect himself, he gazes upon their options with reluctance. Then she asks him to choose.

"Shield." He mutters, glancing at the item.

as they stand on the precipice of destruction, zamazenta joins their cause. somehow, a sensation akin to relief rises.

it is short lived.

a dynamax cannon fires off and she lurches forward, trying to drag citizens down into a safer position with a hurried shout of, "take cover!"

she manages to pick her head up just enough to see zamazenta beside roy, the shield dog and the draconic man standing tall against the giant threat.

As Illeana rushes to guide the citizens to safety, Roy stands resolutely beside Zamazenta, feeling a some strange bond of mutual respect. The Draconid, known for his battle prowess, aligns himself with the legendary pokemon, who embodies the shield of the people. Though they do not perfectly synchronize, their connection is clear. They are two forces united for a common purpose.

"Wide Guard," Roy commands, his voice steady.

Zamazenta responds immediately, its golden shield expanding from its throat, forming a formidable barrier. As Illeana ushers the civilians to take cover, Zamazenta steps forward, bracing for the oncoming assault. The dark energy of Eternatus’s beam collides with the shield, but it holds strong, the attack deflected with unwavering resolve as the legendary protects the worried citizens. Roy stands firm, trusting completely in the strength of his legendary ally.

The simulation states that the Pokemon is a Koraidon: a muscular, ferocious dragon able to break the earth with its fists. No other data exists pertaining to this Winged King. Curiously, it seems paired with you.[break][break]

A roar rattles down the tunnel. Another Koraidon stomps toward you in apex form, its fierce plume and twisted antennae flicking about like whips.[break][break]

You're in the middle of a territorial dispute and there's no way out.

[attr="class","illeana i"]as the scene shifts, as roy and zamazenta protect both the citizens and herself, she feels a small creeping of relief begin to flood back in.

safety has always felt so short lived. in a simulation, even thinking it's possible feels like such an inane reaction...

and whatever tendrils still existed of the sensation dissipate when the world rights itself.

she's no longer staring at his back, shielded from the worst of it all. instead, she finds herself face to face with a dragon. her stomach flipflops through trepidation and she slowly begins to inch back.

"um."

her hand brushes against scales and she startles, jolting her body to the side and turning to stare owlishly at the second scarlet dragon. she opens her mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. instead, the first koraidon roars and charges forward as if challenged in its home. the second koraidon steps up to win the challenge, seemingly paired with them both in an odd turn of events, and she backpedals quickly toward roy to avoid being caught in the clash.

As the professor stumbles back, Roy surges forward, undeterred by the sudden distortion of reality. Though disoriented, his determination pushes him onward. He weaves between the jagged crystals lining the cavern, keeping his focus locked on the two ancient beasts before him.

"sho'voth jacion!" The Draconid's command rings out, his words like fire to the dragon at his side. In response, the scarlet beast lets out a thunderous roar and recklessly charges into the fray.

The two dragons clash fiercely, exchanging devastating blows. With each strike, the cavern trembles, the battle carrying the weight of dominance between the two apex creatures. Roy remains on the sideline, shouting orders and words of encouragement. In the end, it's Roy’s dragon that prevails, standing victorious. As the dust settles, Roy and Illeana emerge unscathed from the legendary confrontation.
