"Fuck m-" he starts, but finds the words dying on his lips as he comes to term with where he was. Team Rocket. He casts a worried glance at the woman next to him, moving instinctively in a protective spot just in-front of her.

"It's not real," he tells her, back still facing her. He holds for a moment, silent, before speaking again, his voice nearly too low to hear. "You should let off some steam. It'll help."

A flash of light reveals a Paradox Pokemon, her dual-sided blade vibrating with violet light. On his command, she enters the fray, and Greyson could only watch with clenched teeth as these aspirations were cut down with brutal efficiency.

annalise holds onto Greyson Connors 's reassurance as they reappear in slateport. though he tries to block her view with his body, she still catches glimpses of dark clothes as uniformed rockets take to the streets. fear washes over her, then recedes to let hatred fill the gaps. [break][break]greyson is right. [break][break]it's not real, but her feelings very much are. [break][break]she brushes past him, taking a pokeball from her belt. in a flash of light, her roaring moon appears. feral and slavering for action, it awkwardly takes off from the ground and pounces on a fleeing rocket. its teeth sink into their body, scattering pixels into the air as the simulation tries to recalibrate itself. [break][break]and the whole time, annalise watches impassively, letting her paradox pokemon be the conduit of her subconscious desires. [break][break]

[break][break]she turns to Greyson Connors, smiling behind her mask. "yeah, it doesn't."[break][break]she holds out her hand in offering. [break][break]"let's look around." Here, in this isolated world, there was no war, and no Rocket. This was a reprieve, no matter how small. He smiles, and he laughs, pointing out trinkets and fireworks for annalise henderson to get lost in.

The duo finally stop at a fried corndog stand, ordering one of for themselves.

Then, something tugs at his leg. Eyes-widening slightly, he looks down, smiling behind a mask at the.. child? Greyson kneels to put himself on even ground with them.

"Hello." He knew intrinsically this wasn't real, but Greyson didn't have it in him to react in any other way. "Did you want one of these to?" He holds out his own, and the unknown child grabs it. After a moment, they slip it under the mask and begin to chew quite loudly.

His smile widens.

Again, the masked child says nothing, face half-turned as it chews the food Greyson had given them. He takes this opportunity to lean into Annalise's ear, whispering.

"I think we should go along with it — maybe bring them around with us? With any luck, their parents will recognize them, or at the very, someone will."
