Kiku frequently was cut from Shalin's expeditions for one reason: he could not aim his musk while on the run. With the wider variety of locations her travels took her to, she needed to get more of her Pokémon ready. It was time for her to get her Skuntank into shape. To be an effective combatant, he really needed to be able to aim his musk without Shalin's help. "Alright, aim for that rock over there!" Shalin cried, pointing toward a boulder roughly a hundred feet away.

The Skuntank raised his tail at a high angle, his saddle plainly visible to anyone observing. With a loud sound not unlike one associated with a creature passing gas, the poison-type cantered across the wide trail, then launched a squirt of musk in the target's direction. The musk sailed wide with a splash. At least Kiku didn't smell; he was very good at keeping his tail clean during and after the shots. Shalin didn't want to think about what it was like closer to the rock, though.

Her Flygon, Type: Null, and Shiny Beedrill were present, watching Kiku, as well. The dragon-type, powering the SYGNA SUIT Shalin wore, glowed a faint green, her SYNC STONE providing the energy needed to reduce the wearer's apparent weight to the point where she could sit on her Beedrill's wing. To anyone else who may have been watching, what Shalin appeared to be doing was impossible; such was the power of a SYGNA SUIT. Queen Zing lightly fluttered her wings, the rider letting out a joyous yelp. While they were were far from buzzing, they were still flapping fast enough to make the Ranger's facial features difficult, if not impossible, to recognize.

It’s not often Abigail takes walks down the scenic routes of Hoenn. Work preoccupies her schedule more often than not and she stays indoors most of the time. However, today isn’t one of those days. Low and behold, too, she manages to meet a rather odd person. Abigail stays out of the cross fire, but watches the pokemon and trainer both with growing interest. Looks like a fierce training session. [break][break]
Maybe they would have regimens they’d be willing to share with her? As Pokemon battling began to interest her more. Wouldn't hurt to see. Either way, she wants to talk to them now.[break][break]
When there’s an acceptable pause in their battle momentum Abigail lightly claps her hands together, makes herself known.
“Wow. I’ve never seen a trainer train quite like you before.”[break][break]

Shalin looked mildly dizzy even after the giant wasp's wing became still. She looked like she was going to stumble after taking one hand off the translucent appendage to save to the blonde trying to get her attention. "Oh, hi there! Didn't even--" she stopped herself, catching her balance just in time. If it weren't for Queen Zing tilting her wing to one side, she would have fallen. "Didn't even notice you there!"

The remarks were nothing new; she was by now used to getting quizzical looks whenever her Sygna Suit's powers were involved. While they were becoming somewhat more widespread, they were still rare, typically reserved for the very wealthy. "They used to call me Hoenn's Wildest Pokémon rider for a reason!" the girl boasted, her voice still a little shaky from being thrown about too fast for the eye to see. "Captain Shalin Nariya of Rustboro," she introduced herself, the Shiny Beedrill waving the flat of one of her foreleg stings toward Abigail to convey friendliness.

Given that Abigail lives in a busy area where all sorts of people pass through, she thought she had seen every type of individual. But this trainer in the weird suit and odd training methods? Yeah, that’s new.[break][break]
“Hoenn’s wildest Pokemon rider? Now that’s a title.” Though Abigail chooses not to focus on that, but the Beedrill instead. She always favored poison types the most. With that buzzing around in her head, she doesn’t see any point in entertaining anymore small talk. “Mm. Call me Abigail. Is this your Beedrill? They look strong, and... very green.”[break][break]

It was a title Shalin could back up, too; if anything, she was backing it up right in front of Abigail, the giant, green insect's wing somehow supporting her. "Great to meet you, Abigail," Shalin replied, the wing of her blue-eyed Beedrill still. "Yep, Queen Zing here is my Beedrill! While she is strong, most of what we can do together I owe to Sandy! She's the Flygon making all this possible." The glowing dragon-type faced Abigail and chirped in greeting, as did Kiku, a saddle-wearing Skuntank near her. The curious Pokémon loosed a small gout of FLAMETHROWER skyward, burning up some of his musk so he would not smell before approaching Abigail.

Before Shalin could answer, Queen Zing stretched her wing, moving her passenger to one side. "Don't buzz me yet!" she kindly asked the green Pokémon before tilting her head toward Abigail. "What brings you out here? Don't see too many people in the volcanic wilds, even during nice weather."

Rain or shine, if Abigail set her mind to something then that’s what she was going to do. The weather wasn’t relevant to her. Except her fire types who have been begging to come out and let loose. Of course, it looks like someone else had the idea to train their Pokemon too. Her smile grows at the quirky bunch of Pokemon in this trainer’s possession. [break][break]
“I was going to walk ahead a bit and let my fire types roam. This type of weather is perfect for them.”[break][break]
Her gold eyes settle on the Skuntank, softening instantly.[break][break]
“I haven’t seen a Skuntank up close before. I’ve always wanted a Stunky, but my father was never fond of smelly Pokemon.” She sighs at the memory. “Can I pet him?”[break][break]
