A tournament? Raju wasn't battle hungry, but it would be good practice. Especially if he was going to be a gym trainer. This was mostly on land, however. Which was perfectly fine by him. His opponent was Cian. With a nod, he readied his Pokeball and tossed it, revealing a big Paldean Blaze Breed Tauros. With a red bull ring in his nostrils. With a roar, the big guy did a motion like he was ready to charge. "Raju Mystic. And this is Big Bert." His main ground battler. The big guy seemed enraged, ready to plow down anyone or anything in his path. The five foot six trainer was used to that though. And had tempered BB enough to get him to listen his trainer.

Raju was a host at Club Olympus, as well as its bouncer. Well, one of its bouncers. He also participated in several underground fighting rings. Despite his small and thin frame, he had proven himself to be a fiesty and deceptively strong fighter himself. Heck, he personally trains his Pokemon via his own body. Too many people relied on thier Pokemon for everything. The blonde didn't recognize the guy, but he did see a lot of people in and out of the club in Mauville.

Raju nodded in agreement. That's how these types of fights should be! Even with the dim setting...to him, it made it more climactic with the thunder overhead. A sense of awe and movie worthiness to this tournament. A Froakie was cute...but also very smol and fast. BB had difficulty with those types of opponents. Let's get some speed on this joint! BB's Intimidating presence should already scare the poor frog a little, maybe enough to make it hesitate. "Scary Face!" He fully intended to get a speed advantage. Hopefully allowing his big bull to actually hit the little water type. The blonde had to get any advantage he could get.

The bull gave an even more scary look to hopefully slow down the frog. The less it moves, the more chances that BB could end this quickly. "Flame Charge!" The follow up was a rushing bull engulfed in flames that increased BB's speed. Unless the Froakie was significantly weaker, it should resist it. Although, BB was a very big Tauros...hence the name...

looking back at its trainer confused, froakie wonders why it had been ordered not to do anything only to realize that its natural typing gives it resistance to the FLAME CHARGE. so it stays put, and then the attack comes, and, man, does it hurt like hell.[break][break]

"oh dang."[break][break]

he looks at Raju Mystic, chuckling for a moment before looking back at froakie HYDRO PUMPING tauros.[break][break]

Well, that was unexpected. Did the guy hoped to do a point blank water type attack after taking a hit? Would have been a good idea...if maybe the size difference wasn't so huge. With a Work Up to boost his power, Big Bert did a wide turn to face the landing Froakie, and burst into stronger flames that was Raging Bull. BB was fierce, always on the move. But the Hydro Pump was going to hurt a lot. Raju didn't know if the attacks were going to cancel each other out or if one will overpower the other. That was a powerful water type attack, even coming from a weak pokemon was sure to do a lot of damage. He just waited as the attacks clashed, creating an obnoxious amount of steam. Raju tried see clear through it, but to no avail...they'll just have to wait till it clears up.

joining the steam is froakie's SMOKESCREEN as it spews it out to try and defend itself against the pain. it's not looking good, however, and froakie is left having to jump back to create some distance to once again try and fire off a HYDRO PUMP.[break][break]

The hit was true, the steam being palpable. But the little frog soon unleashed a smokescreen, making a follow up attack miss. Clods of dirt was sent up from the strike. He had the advantage, and it was time to press it! The big black beast continued to weave through the smoke, trying to hit the little frog with a Close Combat. It would be up in the air if there was an opening for a disastrous water-type attack. Especially for one as powerful as a Hydro Pump. The only solace was that Big Bert was constantly on the move and Hydro Pump wasn't the most accurate of moves. That may be the only reason he'd win this. He just need to keep pressing the attack!

froakie struggles to deal with the pressure tauros is outputting, CLOSE COMBAT keeping the frog at bay as it's forced to evade, weaving left and right in hopes of not getting hit.[break][break]

to try and create some distance, froakie fires a HYDRO PUMP into the ground to launch itself up into the air.[break][break]

The Froakie was sent to the air after a single hit. BB was about to hit the little water type again when it used Hydro Pump to soar up and away. Well, that was a good stalling tactic. Actually...that had many applications. "Focus up, watch its fall. When the timings right, Zen Headbutt!" Patience wasn't one of Big Bert's strong suits. Still the black beast circled the battlefield, waiting fo the little frog to fall, like a Sharpedo circling its prey before striking. The fall seemed slow, and it could always change directions in midair. The Froakie was ready for one last exchange, however. Battered as it was...it was still wanting to continue on. Raju could respect that, as could his bull. When it was getting close to the ground, the command came. "NOW!" He hadn't yelled that loud in a while. With psychic energy surrounding his head, Big Bert went in for the hopefully finishing blow.
