One by one, the challenges rolled in. And one by one, Hideo and his Beheeyem would take them. Not much different from his usual Gym routine, but this was relatively more casual than the battles he hosted.

The sygna-clad child made his way to his next fight, takoyaki in hand - and in mouth. Festivals were great for the fighting, but they were even better for the food at every corner. This wasn't even the first takoyaki he'd eaten today.

Or this hour.

It wouldn't be the last.

But that would wait until this battle was over.

"Hope this'll be a fun match for us both," Hideo said, waiting for his opponent to ready up.

okay. so her next opponent was...a kid?

if it weren't for the suit, elodie would have brushed it off completely. even with the suit, she's still tempted to brush it off- kid's probably just got lucky parents or something, she's sure. it really isn't her business, especially when she's sure it won't come up again. or at least not any time soon.

"me too! may the best trainer win?" it feels weird to say, and maybe a little too mean, so she's just as quick to backtrack. "or...the luckiest trainer? or..."

Hideo merely shrugged. "Skill's usually what decides how these battles go…but luck's always a factor too." A stray critical hit, an untimely miss, an unforeseen event distracting the battlers. "So yeah, may the best trainer win!"

Once the Milotic was out, his Beheeyem was ready to battle. And it would take the initiative.

The bright aura of a Calm Mind enveloped the Beheeyem, empowering it as bits of rock float around it. The rocks were tossed towards the Milotic, the Rock Tomb aiming to harm and entrap.

okay, so maybe her opponent didn't think it was too mean to say. "i know, i just..." she's sure what she's about to say next will make it clear she's not a pro at battling- or maybe there's just some unspoken rules she doesn't get. "it seems a little mean-spirited, don't you think?"

is she overthinking it? maybe she's overthinking it.

either way, she doesn't have much time to before the rocks are thrown in the direction of her milotic. the aquatic pokemon can't do much to knock them all away, and elodie is pretty sure sprinkles knows that, too, but it doesn't stop her from flicking her tail out in an attempt to at least get the most of them. the dragon tail isn't as forceful; mostly just to make sure she isn't entombed entirely.

"Wouldn't say it's mean-spirited. It's just how battles go." Two trainers battled, and it was usually the better trainer that won. "Competitions, serious or not, usually end up with one side winning and the other side…not winning. But whatever happens, as long as you had a good time and learned something, then that's what matters!"

Seems he'd be putting his Gym Leader role to use here; even if it wasn't a Gym Challenge, he could still help teach others.

His Beheeyem remained on the offensive, its arm pointed forward as the lights on its hand began to blink. Psychic energy would start to build up, aiming to toss the Milotic aside - provided it wasn't interrupted first.
