Things haven't gone so hot since the whole defection thing. Since then, Ashley has had to resort to using a cane for a majority of the year of 2024. It sucked. But, at least he was alive. He had to wind down, stay low.[break][break]

Even as he limps out into Lilycove, the man just keeps alow profile best he can. A sweater worn, as he smiles at Law, his little Kubfu who is busy practicing kung-fu.[break][break]

His eyes pricked with tears... what was this? A cruel mirror? A reflection of someone he knew dearly? He hadn't seen her in so long, and yet-[break][break]

All he can do is smile painfully, pull his hoodie up, and nod. Shit day for rain...[break][break]

Law holds his paws out in stance, getting in a very counter-y stance, as Ash feels himself hold back. His heart breaks more, but as he hides his silver eyes, he nods. "So it is..." To help with the rain that was coming for his eyes...[break][break]

"Go, Law. Give her a show." With a quick foot downwards into the stadium with a FOCUS ENERGY, the Kubfu races forward, speeding ahead and racing to slam his head into the Iron Valiant with an IRON HEAD, to start this fight off with a helluva bang.[break][break]

The whole time, Ash is biting his bottom lip.[break][break]

He hadn’t even lost yet! Neither of them had. So why did he look so bummed?

The Kubfu went quickly through a series of stances, the energy crackling and building in his fur. Then, it went off like a shot, shooting towards Rose, who struck her own, defensive stance, drawing the Kubfu in to fire off a moonblast point blank against his iron head.

The rain continues to pour, and Law attempts to make an impact with the IRON HEAD, only to be smashed into a MOONBLAST, sent backwards, through a bunch of tumbles, an Akira-slide against the stadium floor. A crack of thunder up above sounds off. A COUNTER prepared if that came again.[break][break]

Wiping the bruise away, the Kubfu begins to run, sliding onto the wet stadium floor, in an attempt to rocket forward. Now wasn't the time to hold back.[break][break]

Silver eyes peer out. Unfeeling, unhurt now. Ashley needed just a moment to get it together. "Close Combat, hit from as many angles as you can." The little bear begins an onslaught, an Ora-Ora-Ora with an intent to make as many tiny hits devastating as possible in return, in a short burst. Even if his DEFENSE lowers, the CLOSE COMBAT would have to make up the difference.[break][break]

Well, that was fast. Whatever this guy’s deal was, he seemed to get over it pretty quick. Good for him.

The little bear is zipping and dashing as the arena steadily turns to mud. Rose tries to track its movements, but it’s so good at turning its sliding momentum to its advantage, and it sneaks in behind her guard, firing off a number of hits in quick succession, each a loud clang, clang, clang as it dents her armor. Her chassis buckles in places, spitting sparks and the electric pink sparkly goo that powers her.

She pulls her armblades in to try and force the Kubfu back, striking out with an x-shaped spirit break to repel the onslaught.

The pain never really went away. He's trying his best to keep it together, but putting that thought to the back of his head. His heart's not in it.[break][break]

"Law." The Kubfu stops their onslaught, slapped backwards into a tumble on the SPIRIT BREAK, as the Kubfu attempts to guard himself. Too late to Counter.[break][break]

So, as he slides back, the Kubfu halts, and holds both paws up.[break][break]

If he can't COUNTER then, he will now. He readies to slam a paw down, if the Iron Valiant comes at him.[break][break]

"Hold your ground." He whispers. Enough that the Kubfu is at the ready.[break][break]

The spirit break buys her some room, but not much time. The counter that comes after it hits twice as hard, badly denting Rose’s right shoulder and chestplate to the point of collapse. Sharp sparks shoot out from her ruined right arm, which dislodges at the joint and falls to drag along the ground. Hot pink, sparkly liquid sluices out of her in uneven waterfall spirals.

She still has one arm. She lifts it, takes aim, and fires off a psycho cut, not willing to sacrifice the brief distance between her and her opponent.

Law did get hit with the PSYCHO CUT, and while it does hurt, it isn't without the paw finding its way back. With another smack of his leg, the little bear makes a tiny crater from the impact, but responds in kind by hitting with that same force, twice as hard.[break][break]

Law was bleeding though, but with a quick bounce back, the little bear lifts his head to attempt to close the distance.[break][break]

Another IRON HEAD thrown forward with heavy force, intent to knock out the Iron Valiant, first and foremost.[break][break]

All while Ashley stayed silent.[break][break]

Ghosts from the past rip into him. Mistakes he made, mistakes he wishes he could correct. People who left, disappeared, vanished to nothing... appear and fade away. He pulls the hoodie down further. A shit day for rain...[break][break]

Ugh, okay, this could definitely be going better. They’d started out so strong, too, and now this sad emo boy was steamrolling them.

The Kubfu closes the distance, iron head striking Rose’s left hip, crushing the pelvic space there and forcing shards of metal into the joint, which whirr and grind angrily, spitting sparks and causing the mech to jerk.

She pushes off with her functioning leg, using the dead one as a weight to put more force into the spinning leaf blade she throws out, her last ditch effort at staying in this fight before her very body gives out on her.

Fear grabs at Ash as Law is quickly forced to jump and spin in the air, sliced upwards onto the face with the LEAF BLADE in a diagonal slash, that leaves the bear bleeding. Being the dangerous slash it was, it could have easily taken his head, but natural fighting instinct took over and saved him with just a gash.[break][break]

Still, Ash would stare on in slight fear, as the Kubfu lands, smashing fist tiny paw-sized fists together, before forcibly closing the distance. This next one was going to decide it![break][break]

Better let it all out now. Ashley calls out.[break][break]

"Barrage."[break][break]

And then comes the CLOSE COMBAT, slamming forward with an ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA of fists, the quick succession of fists constant and blasting ahead, the Kubfu leaving defense behind for a full-on offensive, intending to K-O Rose himself.[break][break]

The bear squeaks to life, intent to be the one left standing in the end. He just. Had. To. Endure the pain.[break][break]

Red blood splatters the ground in little droplets, mixing with the larger volumes of sparkly pink goo streaming from Rose like rivers.

The Kubfu is agile, and manages to avoid severe damage; Rose pulls her weapons in, knowing what was coming.

The close combat strikes hit hard. Her weapons fragment and crack, more neon fuschia liquid escaping her. As a last ditch survival effort, she conjured herself into a moonblast bomb, bright light suffusing her seams and threatening to take the Kubfu down with her as it battered and beat her.

Law stands tall, as he manages to hold fast and throw out the CLOSE COMBAT. The moment he's done enough, the little bear falls to a knee, breathing heavy. Exhaustion paralyzes the little bear, as his head shakes. The Kubfu had won the duel, but the way he was looking, he was spent.[break][break]

Ash takes the time to come up, and give the little bear a little low five, before turning towards Cy-... his opponent.[break][break]

"Thanks for the fight... and uh. Glad to see you're okay."[break][break]

Did he mean the paradox Iron Valiant, her, or his Kubfu? Which one indeed. But as he picks up the little Kubfu, he gives her a smile that he often did.[break][break]

"Keep that chin up, Sunshine."[break][break]

Maybe seeing ghosts wasn't always a bad thing.
