Another duo complete meant the chance for two more to step to the plate. With the preliminary matches drawn out, it seemed he had the courtesy to go against someone named Diana Cavendish. As he met her in the middle, a warm smile forcing his lips to draw back. Yet another handshake offered, he wanted his opponent to feel like he had no worries -- win or lose, he was here to have fun.

"Ranger Colin Novak, at your service!" he beamed.

Like all of his opponents, his handshake, if met, was kept firm and friendly. His Growlithe gave a huff, ready for the introduction to conclude so it could launch into battle. Colin laughed at the dog and shook his head in a way to tell it to remain patient. Despite patience being key, he hustled to his side of the arena and readied to battle.

"Hello. I'm Diana. May the best trainer win," she said with an extended hand, before walking over to her side of the court.

Behind her, Cadbury flapped her wings gracefully, ready to show their opponent their power.

An Altaria, what a worthwhile challenge. Both Colin and his Growlithe seemed pumped to take on the dignified trainer. As if looking for the right opening, Colin stared down the Altaria for the slightest misstep before he gave the order to his pokemon.

"Alright, let's sink our teeth into this one, buddy," he challenged his partner pokemon.

Given the order, the Growlithe made its charge forward, teeth bared in an attempt to try and intimidate the Altaria. But as it launched forward, its jaw unhinged in an attempt to envelop one of the Altaria's wings in its gaping maw, a BITE at the ready.

[attr="class","diana"]Immediately, Diana's ALTARIA went for the defensive. With a quick COTTON GUARD, Cadbury attempted to boost the cottony down along her body to avoid the gnarling teeth of the GROWLITHE.

It seemed like the right thing to do, as those sharp teeth were immediately on their way to snap at her wing.

There was an attempt to move out of the way, even if the teeth did graze her wing. With an ferocious noise, she charged back at the dog-like Pokemon with a SKY ATTACK, flying from the air downward for more momentum.

A low whistle left his lips the moment that his Growlithe took the brunt of the SKY ATTACK. As his Growlithe skittered along the ground, it soon shook itself out of the momentary stun it felt. Colin hunched down to eye his Growlithe with concern. Though it was quick to reassure him that it was still ready to duke it out.

"You're doing great! Let's keep at it!"

The resilience was enough to earn a hearty laugh from the ranger. At the ready, the Growlithe took a deep breath in. With a fire lit both metaphorically and literally, the dog breathed out in an attempt to douse the Altaria with a FLAMETHROWER.

[attr="class","diana"]One point down. Diana let out a cheer, clapping her hands for Cadbury who did a quick victory circle around her. Her Pokemon was pleased with the praise, all the more excited to attempt another win.

"Good job, girl! Show them how it's done."

The bird SANG, an attempt to put her foe's guard down, as she then went to charge forward with a MOONBLAST.

While the Moonblast likely would have been one hell of hard hitter, his Growlithe managed to break through. This was one tough little pup. With the attack hit, the ranger felt himself grinning in relief. They were both leveled now. The excitement of it was what made the battle entertaining. Even the Growlithe beared its teeth in a pseudo-smirk.

"Hey! Let's not get too cocky now!"

The Growlithe huffed at its trainer's critique.

But now they had to focus on taking the lead. Maybe that meant trying to break through the defenses that Diana seemed so focused on putting up with her Altaria. It was certainly a solid maneuver, but it was only maximizing effort put out by her poor Altaria.

This time, the Growlithe did exactly that -- attempting to smash through the defenses with a FLAME WHEEL.

[attr="class","diana"]Perhaps they got too cocky. The sing didn't work how she wanted it too, and it showed on her ALTARIA'S face. However, Diana was going to make sure that she wasn't to be discouraged.

"Come on, wipe it off. It's not over."

She couldn't help the small giggle at Colin speaking to his own Pokemon. "Let him have a moment. He deserves it!"

Now, they were back, focusing. A FLAME WHEEL was a dangerous move, though she hoped Cadbury could counter it with a SKY ATTACK.

And the SKY ATTACK, dear Growl-Icarus, had been its downfall once more.

The Growlithe was sent flying back once again, the attack enough to break the effect of its own. Maybe Diana had a point with her constant onslaught. Maybe it didn't hurt to use the same move twice.

But what was the fun in that? Keep the challenge on their toes!

"You good, bud?"

The Growlithe was quick to shake it off, and gave a yip to confirm to its trainer that it was battle ready. Breath in, focus. Breath out, call it.

"Alright, let's try to PLAY ROUGH with this Altaria!"

Soon enough, the pup pounced to try and wrestle the bird-dragon.

"One more time, Cadbury. Let's put this match in the bag."

The opposing GROWLITHE bared his teeth and PLAYED ROUGH, much to the displeasure of the dragon-type. However, in attempts to shake him off, the ALTARIA utilized TAKE DOWN in order to try and win the match point.

Despite it all, he still felt some pride that he'd managed to land a hit on the Altaria. Once the smoke cleared, he saw that his poor Growlithe was down for the count. A bittersweet smile tugged at his lips as he drew the pokemon back in.

"Get some rest, little guy. You did great out there."

With the pokeball back on his belt, Colin chose to meet Diana in the middle for one final handshake to wrap up their battle. Despite the loss, he still remained in high spirits. She'd shown him that maybe he might want to look into bolstering the defenses of his pokemon before he went into an actual battle on the field.

"Hey, thanks for the match! Good luck with the next round!"
