A tournament, huh? While Sio seemed the calm type of confident about such a competition, Quill was all over the idea of fighting a whole bunch! Being able to play with so many other pokemon, and getting TREATS if he did good? Sign him UP!

As the two step onto the battlefield, Sio gives an amused hum at the scene while Quill yaps and barks right at Yip and Ettie! Friends! "Well, what a fun surprise seeing you here, Ettie! Ready to play?"  Sio muses, hands resting on their hips and smiling softly.

At the sight of a couple of familiar faces, Ettie perked up visibly - she and Yip separating from one another. "Sio! Quill! Friends!" She greeted happily, wiggling briefly. "Mhmmm! Yip and Ettie ready!"

Yip, too, was enthused to see the duo, bouncing up onto her feet and giving a big wave and a couple friendly barks. She was happy to see the fellow Smeargle - who knew what'd come out, in their playfight?

But, speaking of which, the two were prepared to start strong. With the light from Ettie's Tera Orb, Yip would terastallize, taking on the Ghost type!

And immediately putting it to use, the Smeargle would use Tera Blast - aiming her tail at Quill, and letting loose a spray of off-gray-purple paint!

Quill waves back to Yip, just as happy to see the other Smeargle. Happy friends, and the thrill of a playfight!

Though, seeing the Tera Orb light up and Yip aiming a spray of greyish purple paint his was, Sio would immediately speaking up- ready for action. "Quill! Me First on Yip- fight fire with fire!"

With a spin of his tail- which now glows at the end with psychic energy, Quill is more than ready to spray a blast of glowing purple paint right back at Yip. He copied her Tera Blast!

Yip is caught off-guard by the Me First, it seems; because as Quill's copy of the attack strikes her, her own stream of paint goes wide! Stumbling back, she splutters a little as she ends up with a taste of her own medicine.

Something, that Ettie can't help but break down into a fit of giggles with.

But with this, Yip takes a second to study Quill as she cleans herself off. Me First certainly seems like a more powerful alternative of Copycat, but... What are its limitations, she wonders?

Eager to figure them out, she decides to Transform; painting herself into... a facsimile of Quill? (Really, aside from general natural variations in features, Yip didn't change all that much visually.)

But looking to put her newfound moveset to work, she'd proceed to use Psyshield Bash - painting a bright magenta shield, and charging at Quill with it!

Quill bursts into his own fit of yapping laughter as Yip successfully eats paint. Yes! Victory for Quill! And honestly, Sio finds it pretty amusing too- clapping for their Smeargle with a pleased smirk on their face.

But now, here comes something fascinating! Though to Sio or Ettie the changes aren't much, Quill completely fires up seeing Yip Transform into another version of him. Those are his spots and tufts of fluff, dang it!

Despite all this, though, Quill is more than eager for a challenge. And so, seeing the pink painted shield coming his way, the Smeargle readies his own attack. Painting vigorous lines and splashes of black and purple, he charges at Yip with Bitter Malice!

Ettie

Though the shield was impressive, the ghost-type Bitter Malice burned right through it - and in turn sent Yip stumbling back with a yelp. Traces of purple-black paint was left behind on her fur, though she'd briefly shake herself off the best she could, even if she swayed on her feet.

And as Yip soon figured out, Me First couldn't really copy an attack that'd already been used. Only one that's about to occur - which seemed a bit restrictive, even if said copies had a bit more punch. Though, perhaps it'd be worth a shot? Hmmm~...

Focusing upon Quill, Yip would prepare a Me First, ready to try and copy whatever move he'd toss at her..!

The more that Yip seemed to try and fail to counteract Quill's attacks, the more he in turn grows cocky and entertained. What was that thing again, Sio wondered...? Dragon-types are weak to themselves, ghost-types are weak to themselves...does that mean Smeargles are weak to other Smeargles?

But Quill doesn't have time to think about all that fancy school stuff! He's here to fight, and now, to win! Especially as he sees the pink blobs of paint and energy surrounding Yip from his Me First, he knows he needs to prepare something good- and fast.

So, furiously painting a bright pink shield, he'd howl and charge forward at Yip- hitting her with a Psyshield Blast!

Ettie

Psyshield clashes against Psyshield - and as the two attempt to push back against one another, it is a valiant effort between the two... But, Yip is exhausted, and Quill is still as hale as can be. Thus, it is the latter Smeargle who wins out, sending Yip tumbling back; bounce, bounce, skid...

... And as Yip comes to a stop, she'd let out a grumble, remaining faceplanted with a huff. The paint of her Transform would melt away, leaving her in her true form.

Ettie giggled and clapped, stepping up to pat Yip and Quill both on the heads. "Did good!" She praised them both, smiling bright. Then, smiling to Sio, she'd ask "Playfight more, later?" Of course, later would be after all of this tournament stuff was done; but playing with friends was always good!

It's only when he sees Yip skidding and bouncing backwards on the battlefield that Quill stops his onslaught of attacks against the other Smeargle. Instead, with a handful of happy pants, he toddles over to her- patting her on the head much like Ettie just did! He yips happily to her and her trainer as if to say 'good game!' before offering a paw to help her up.

"You did good, too!" Sio muses in turn, also giving the hard fighting Smeargles some well deserved pets. "And yes- we can definitely playfight more after all this settles, dear," they'd add on, humming happily and, finally, ruffling the girl's hair slightly.
