This part sucked. Having to go from one venue to another in Lilycove. In truth, with a limp it really did, but he'd find his way there. With Law the Kubfu leading him there, the silver-haired man would arrive later than he intended to.[break][break]

"Howdy. Kazuya?" He asks softly, limping his way closer, offering a short, subdued smile.[break][break]

It's... something, alright. As Law attempts to steady his trainer, he waves. "Hope you're good to go." He tries to steady himself now, and holds out a hand for a shake.

[attr="class","kazu2"]The older man did not share the dislike of open air. After so many years cramped in a dark, dirty cell, the sun continued to feel like heaven. So, he did not mind when his opponent took some time to arrive. His Bewear took a moment to catch its breath as it waited. When Ashley limped in, Kazuya’s lips pressed into a pronounced frown. An ivory eyebrow rose. “Ashley.” [break][break]

As the hand reaches toward him, Kazuya is quick to grab it. He is almost tender in his grip, proof he’s aware of the strength that runs through his body. His Bewear seems tempted to help Law hold the man up. Beady, normally childlike eyes fill with concern. At the question, the man’s brow vanishes into his hairline. “I am.” Kazuya answer, “Are you?”[break][break]

He nods to a nearby bench. If this man wished to persevere, he did not have to do it swaying like a hypnotized Sandaconda. Though a bit befuddled by the injury, the Bewear dropped into a fighting position. The human's condition had nothing to do with this.

The Bewear is like a nasty reminder of his mistakes... but Ashley nods, Law making sure that he was standing upright![break][break]

"Guess we'll see." he responds with a quiet shrug. But that's all he can do, as Law assists him to the nearby bench. Nothing else, it helped that Ashley didn't have to stay on his feet now![break][break]

Now. With the battle at the ready, Law turns around, a fighting position himself. "Focus, and strike." A smack of a paw into the ground, the bear leaps forward with one helluva party-starter, to come in with a triple set of kicks; an AERIAL ACE signature he loved to do![break][break]

Not wishing for the young man to feel alone, the mercenary took a seat beside him. One leg crossed over the other as he turned to face the battlefield. Not quite understanding his trainer’s decision, Natsu huffs at him.

But that look didn’t last for long. The battle soon diverted his attention. As the little bear launched itself at him, the Bewear dropped into a fighting pose. That Aerial Ace would be super effective, and he had no choice but to let it hit. Dodging that move was next to impossible. “Tank it.” Though super-effective against half of him, the Bewear’s dense fur allowed him to take the flying-type moves with a lot less damage than expected. An Endure helped keep him from collapsing.

Blood dripped from his guarding arm as he let the bear push him back. “Give it back.” With a bellow, the bear responded with a Pain Split. This was followed by a blazing fast Payback.

The Bewear guards with a pushback, but the pushback was the PAIN SPLIT to Law, leaving the bear at a loss, as the PAYBACK comes. It's so fast, that Law has to do everything in his ability to keep that attack from striking.[break][break]

Except.[break][break]

"You heard'em." The Payback strikes, but so does the Kubfu's fist back in a COUNTER, following a disengage flip backwards, and a landing with a hefty OOMPH.[break][break]

Large fingers interlaced across his lap. The man’s torso bent in two as he peered at the battle. The sick man’s order shifts golden eyes from intrigued to concerned. That didn’t sound good. “Natsu!”

The bear only had a split-second warning before his attack was thrown back at him. The fist hit the bear in the chest, driving the air from his lungs. He staggers back a few feet. A gasp sets him right. The normally placid face transforms. Needle sharp teeth burst past the muzzle as the Bewear unleashed a snarl. Then, with a burst of speed, he launched himself at Law.

This time, Natsu responds with a Super Power.

The way this guy seemed overly concerned for his Pokemon, meant that Law needed to hold back. But it isn't just that. Ash's memory over Landon Cassidy's brutal mutual kill of his own Bewear had Ash's own face riddle with sweat.[break][break]

So. Allowing the Bewear to come, the Kubfu would see the snarl, and respond with a nod. A gesture forward. One paw.[break][break]

The moment that SUPER POWER hits, he would use DETECT, and respond with a single headbutt IRON HEAD. But instead of going hard...[break][break]

Ash smiles, as he just bonks him softly.[break][break]

[attr="class","kazu2"]Golden eyes shifted sideways as the battle carried on. He could see the strange expression on Ashley’s face. It seemed sorrowful to him. But Kazuya did not make a habit of prying into other’s business. If they wished to share, he would welcome it. The large man shifted his position. The jiggling legs intensified, “Hm.” The Detect was a useful move. It is one he often used once upon a time. Unfortunately, it is not something he and Natsu have perfected. “Your friend is strong.”[break][break]

The Bewear’s face turns fiery as his Super Power bounces off. It’s an unwelcome sensation—like running into a wall at full tilt. Metallic texture dominates his field of vision as Law springs up. The Bewear braces himself with an Endure. His look of determination shifts into confusion as the attack hits. There’s no pain or splitting headache. Wide-eyed and bewildered, the fighting type doesn’t immediately respond. Instead, he just watches as the hearts on display drop.[break][break]

Kazuya notices his opponent’s soft smile. This does not encourage him to throw the battle. Those years in prison had left him with some pride. “Natsu, keep going.” Shaking off the confusion, the Bewear runs toward Law with a double Ice Punch.

With that, even as the ICE PUNCH comes back at the bear, the little bear holding both paws up to grab the frost-touched hands, to stop him in place, or attempt to. The battle was won...[break][break]

And Law would smile at the big Bewear peacefully. As Ashley takes a step forward... and looks at the Bewear. Natsu, was it?[break][break]

"Take care of him. And thanks for the match."[break][break]

Was he crying? Hard to tell. With a turn, as Law bows towards Kazuya... the duo begin to walk away.

[attr="class","kazu2"]Too absorbed in the fight, Natsu doesn’t notice as his last heart evaporates. Though, that could be more due to his nearsightedness than any bloodlust. As Law catches his hand, the Bewear’s trainer coughs. This shatters the spell. When the ursine pulls his hand back, the frigid air is gone. He nods at the Kubfu as he pulls back. Though he didn’t like losing, the other Pokemon had shown courage.[break][break]

As his sickly opponent rises from the bench, Kazuya remains seated. He does not wish Ashley to feel crowded. “I will.” The older man nods in acknowledgment. “Thank you.” As the white-haired man turns away, Kazuya pauses. He wishes to say he understood what such a loss felt like. But, because he does, he does not open his mouth. Words were not enough.
