Throughout the course of the tournament, her Iron Valiant had been bashed, cut, melted, licked, gummed up with sand, and bashed again… but thanks to her own mechanical prowess and the power of Pokemon Centers, Rose looked good as new, gleaming in the scant sunlight that managed to break through the clouds overhead.

“Our win record might be in the tank, but damn, we look good,” she said, as the Valiant stepped away to take her place for the fight. To her opponent, she asked, “Ready to go?”

He and Kama, on the other hand? He was wearing his scrubs, and she was clearly on the older side of a Pokemon's age.

Worst yet, they didn't even have a winning record to make up for it.

Kama gave him a dirty look, to which he pet her head.

"Don't worry, kama... we used to look good, too. Once upon a time."

She slapped his hand off, before marching off to take their spot on the battlefield, making him chuckle as he turned his gaze over to... Ana Fell, if he recalled correctly, and nodded.

"Ready as ever!"

Her Valiant bows at the waist, then detaches her arm-blades and connects them into one long, staff-like weapon. Her metallic skirt flares out around her as she uses it like the limbs of a bow to fire off a moonblast and start the fight properly.

Meanwhile, his Scyther merely scoffed at the mere suggestion of begging for a win, even if they truly were struggling for a single one so fa— No, no, don't think about it, that was a loser's mindset.

Hitting the floor with a low duck, the Scyther grumbled as she leapt forth, the searing light of Moonblast burning along the edges of her carapace as she charged to cover the distance between her and the machine-like pokemon.

Yet another new thing for her to gawk at. Just what in the world had happened while she was resting in the garden? Giant pokemon, crystal pokemon, machine pokemon, superpowered cosplayers...

With a frustrated growl, she finally leapt forth and over the beam, going for a close shave in order to get the most damage in a single strike—!

Despite the jokes, however...

She whiffed her strike, getting a searing strike in return that sent her hurtling back, heels digging into the ground beneath her as she stabbed her scythes down to stop herself.

"Hey, don't get too excited, Kama!" He called out, cupping his hands around his mouth. "First, get into your own rhythm!"

Kama narrowed her eyes at her opponent, before releasing a low breath and nodding, crouching low yet again as she controlled her breath, before launching forth once more.

Her eyes followed her opponent's blade carefully as she closed in the distance, before suddenly surging forward in a burst of speed, rounding around her opponent in a flash of movement in an attempt at striking their back.

TL;DR:

The Scyther stopped her backward momentum by stabbing the ground and twisting her body in the air with a lithe agility that only came from creatures with no true bone structure.

She was back on Rose in a heartbeat, and this time managed to break through her defense. Sparks flew as scythes clashed against metal. One landed neatly in a joint seam and parted a tension cable with a sigh.

Rose and Kama spun, blades flashing quicker than the human eye. After a few rounds of matched parrying, the Valiant tried to force the bug back or to the ground with a well aimed leaf blade.

Her opponent was a truly bizarre creature. The way it moved was nothing like what a living and breathing creature should've, but it did not feel like battling against an automaton, either...

As a clean strike suddenly broke through her guard, she attempted a close dodge once again, bending back while swinging up her scythe in an arch—

Again and again, their blades met. Whenever it seemed like the Scyther was being pushed back, she turned it on a dime and used the movement to her advantage. And, while Rose was keeping up, every now and then another scratch would appear on her armor; one well-placed slice over a glowing-pink LED caused shiny fuschia fluid to stream down over her white chassis.

The finesse wasn’t paying off. Rose dropped her shoulder and gathered a moonblast, charging in the wake of the bright, flaring light.

Kama's eyes widened, time slowing down as the blast appeared before her.

The moment she had been waiting for arrived.

As her opponent disengaged— Kama chased after them with a terrifying desperation, a red aura exploding out of her as the earth beneath her cracked, her body launching forth like a bullet, trying to slam her hard carapace head against her opponent's chest as the energy gathered.

A terrifying all or nothing maneuver.

The power that came from both Pokemon went off in a white-hot explosion and a deafening boom. The arena filled with wispy smoke, and when it cleared, Rose was down for the count, sprawled out and sliced through, leaking energon and spitting sparks as her internal mechanisms began to wind down.

“Dang! We started off so strong, too,” she said, recalling the mech and resigning herself to yet ANOTHER visit to the Pokemon center.
