Newly refreshed, and fueled up–Lam and Pops are ready for yet another round of battles as they return to the field after a brief break away from the noise and commotion.[break][break]

Another unfamiliar face greets him as he steps onto the pitch, but Lam doesn’t mind. He’s been matched with just as many friends as he has strangers. Even with those he didn’t particularly care to encounter again (cough, onyx straub.) So he gives the girl a lazy wave, then lets his pidove take the stage just ahead of him.[break][break]

“Good tourney so far?” he asks casually, tapping the activator on his tera orb so that the little bird is swallowed up by the crystallizing light of dragon tera energy. “Ready when you are!”

A Pidove, eh. There were all sorts of folks in this. And due to the odd rules, everyone had a chance. In fact, she all but assumed that it was mostly just luck that determined winners here. Most likely to help anyone to have a proper chance of winning.

Likely good for ratings, still felt weird to play with. It probably explained why this guy seemed all but disinterested in the actual fight, not even introducing himself.
Still though, she had come up with a staple introduction, so she would give that. “It’s fine, I guess. Doesn’t really feel like much of a tournament the way it’s set up,” she first stated, shrugging. “Anyway, I am Lash, this is Lyca and we are ready. Sadly no word with L for that one.”
Her dusk form Lycanroc would take the stage anyway, stoic as always.

“Aw, but that’s the fun of it, yannow?” He shrugs, unbothered. “These matches are more about having a good time—showcasing!” A lot of the pokemon here could be considered unassuming. Surprise moves that didn’t typically fit with them seem to be a common trend.[break][break]
“Lash and Lyca! Still some good alliteration!” He would know, given his own name was a double-L too.[break][break]
He doesn’t dwell on what other words for ‘ready’ could be used, though, or he’d get thoroughly derailed from the match. Instead, he sweeps a hand forward and his pidove springs up into the air, ready to go.[break][break]
“Come out swinging, Pops!” The little bird chirps, unafraid to start with what will hopefully be a heavy hit. The lycanroc is far larger, but she puts all of her force into the DRAGON HAMMER that swings toward the canine head on.

Of course it is,” she replied, flipping some of her black-red hair over her shoulder. Alliteration was always nice, though she had not exactly chosen the nickname because of that. No, she wasn’t that good at those. She’d just chosen it because it was a shorter name of the species.

But, well, that could not be helped. She shrugged to herself, then focused on the fight in front of her. The Pidove was going all in right away, but Lash decided that they had enough leeway to set up for the future first. “Try to get away from that and set up your Stealth Rock,” she ordered and the stoney dog tried to do just that. To howl, causing splintered rocks to erupt from the ground all over and then to dive away to the side. They would have a harder time hitting the Pidove in the air, but it might well have to come down to Lyca’s level to hit, after all. Might as well try.

“I getcha! I’m all about it.” Granted, none of his pokemon shared his alliteration, but that was getting into the weeds of it all, wasn’t it? And they had a match to hopefully win! But oof, this lycanroc was tough.[break][break]
“Well dang, okay!” he had to laugh a little as the pidove shattered a pillar of rock rather than give the lycanroc full impact. More rocks jetted up out of the earth, earning cheeps of surprise from the pidove. One caught her wing, sending her into a crooked spiral. “Pull up!” he instructed, “Get around those rocks!”[break][break]
The little bird tilted side to side, leveling out in the air before she swooped around, curving the wing she drummed up into a volley of AIR SLASHES directed at the canine’s flank.

“I hope you don’t mind me taking this seriously,” she replied, still retaining her chipper attitude for the most part, but gaining some edge at the same time. Mostly because she wanted to set the stage. This was probably going to be her last match in this little tournament, and she did intend to do it properly – even if her opponent was a Pidove.

Still though, there was an advantage. And she wanted to press it. Hence, she touched her bracelet before striking the proper rock pose. “Let’s meet these slashes head-on. Show it that you can throw more than just stealth rocks with a Splintering Stoneshards,” she called out to Lyca, who howled once more, this time putting a lot more Z-infused power into it.

“Not at all!” he chirps back pleasantly. “Nothing wrong with a bit of competition.” In fact, he tends to welcome it.[break][break]

The pose she strikes draws a somewhat comedic grimace to his face, “Uh oh, we know what that means. Brace yourself, Pops!” Seconds later the z-move flares up and stronger, more jagged rocks jut up to knock the pidove from the sky.[break][break]

She tailspins, dizzy from the charged up impact. If anything, terastalization alone helped keep the poor bird from a flat KO. Reining herself back in, the pidove draws herself back up, darting above the lycanroc to swing down a second DAGON HAMMER. Hopefully with more success than the first.

Things had been going well so far. Naturally, the other was also getting something in here. Lyca did her best to double-team and dodge the dragon hammer with that, but this time, the bird got lucky. Or it just chose right. Lash didn’t know, but she accepted it anyway. Lyca was a bit sluggish right after using a Z-Move, so all of that did make sense.

Still though, the dog was hit and flung backwards, but it managed to angle itself to land properly on all four feet, skidding across the arena a bit. “Well, the little one does pack a bit of a punch. We’ll just have to make sure we end it before being hit again then, right, Lyca?”
