[break][break] Though these battles were quite tiresome by this point, it seemed like Tofu didn't have any less enthusiasm than he had before. It probably had to do with all the cute ladies in the stands, though.

Well, at the very least the little guy came out of the gate running. That was something she had to acknowledge, even though she much preferred the evolved form to a simple Pikachu. Though she did not have her Raichu entered for this, so that could not be seen in motion, sadly.

Instead, she had her trusty partner, who immediately surged forward, seeking to weave around the Discharge and hit the Pikachu directly with Extreme Speed.

[break][break] The EXTREME SPEED knocks right into the Pikachu, barreling him back against the concrete. He lets out a grunt of pain as he scrambles to his feet, shaking his head to rid the dizziness from his expression. Behind him, his trainer hollers his support.

[break][break] With a growl, the Pikachu waves his tail and summons tiny, pink notes that swim through the air. The DISARMING VOICE floats towards the Lucario and surround him, filling the air with delightful chimes.

Oof. That looked like it hurt. Electrical discharge still surrounded Lucario, causing it to jolt her and there, but it certainly had not been flung into concrete. That seemed a lot worse, but she figured it was fine since the little one was getting up again. This was a tournament, after all. Not a gym battle. They were not holding back.

Still, just squishing the other would still feel bad, so this was all good. Still, that outcome saw her hold back a little on going Mega already. Both to give Lucario more of a breather and not to come across as too aggressive. “Well, if it is trying to disarm you, show it the opposite. Let’s start up a proper Sword’s Dance here,” she ordered her Pokemon, which tried to ignore the soothing voice and instead grow ever sharper in mind and body for the time being.

[attr="class","textbody"] Now that there was some distance between the two, Tofu could catch his breath. His eyes darted towards the opponent as it pulled up a proper SWORDS DANCE attack, no doubt preparing for a stronger hit.

[break][break] "Trailblaze, Tofu! He can't hit you if he can't get you."

[break][break] Green light leapt underneath the Pikachu's feet as he darted around the arena, aimed to dodge the attacks should they come his way. He expertly weaved through the floating notes from his previous DISARMING SONG attack, which would detonate upon impact should the Lucario wander so closely.

The latter stopped its Swords Dance and instead briefly remained completely inert. Then its eyes snapped open, immediately focusing on the enemy as it charged up a sphere of pure energy to then hurl it at great speeds at the Pikachu, hopefully hitting it with that right away.

[break][break] The AQUA SPHERE comes racing towards him at record speed, smashing easily through all the floating songnotes and towards the weaving Pikachu. There's little time to react, so Tofu haphazardly lets out a ELECTRO BALL attack that detonates just in time.

[break][break] It protects him from blunt damage, but not quite everything, as it sends him tumbling back into the pavement. By the time that the Pikachu is back to his feet again, he is grimacing, wincing from the pain of it all.

Ooof. The Pikachu sure was taking it like a champ. But it was still taking a good deal of damage there, evidently being hurt.

But Megan was not someone who would rudely suggest the other stopped fighting or anything like that. That would be horrible. They were here, they were fighting, they probably knew best what they could and could not take.

The Pikachu was evidently on its last legs there. But it was still going. It did not want to give up. Which was good enough. Not knowing who the other really was, Megan simply felt like this was more akin to a green-horned gym challenger on his first run. At which he was doing decently well, in her opinion.

But that also meant she should treat it like that. Beating her would not earn this guy a badge, but she figured she could at least get him the proper experience. “Well, if they are bringing out the big guns, let’s do the same,” she announced as she activated the mega accessory to match Lucario up better with the giant Pikachu. “Still bigger, but you know what they say about those and falling. Let’s go for speed and try to trip it over,” she ordered, sending her Pokemon to Extreme Speed the enemy.

[attr="class","textbody"] Stubbornness could only get you so far. Even skill had it's limitations too.

[break][break] Ollie was no Gym Leader, but he'd been around the block once or twice. Even that, though, meant nothing when his pokemon was willing to fight. Still, the Head Ranger had his doubts. He knew that Tofu would push himself to the limits without being asked — but how far?

[break][break] As the EXTREME SPEED hits into him, he attempts to retaliate with a MAX LIGHTENING. But it's weaker than expected, shooting off in a spray of sparks rather than thunderous calamity.

Something something size was not everything. Obligatory. Aside from that though, it was always satisfying to see a big one like this fall. Sure, Lucario had had to go mega for that, but that just meant that he had become the hero felling the foul beast.

Even if said foul beast had been, well, a Pikachu. That kind of deflated the whole story. But then again, a win was a win, so she high-fived Lucario when it returned from the pitch. “Well then, it’s been fun but the next round probably already waits for both of us. Take care of Tofu, then. And make sure it doesn’t grow an appetite fitting that body.”
