If it's meant to be a distraction, it's not really effective. At least not for Pops as Lam wrinkles his nose at the other gym leader.[break][break]

The pidove flits from side to side on quick wings, narrowly avoiding the froakie's slimy attack before swerving around to bonk it with an ever so familiar DRAGON HAMMER.

Interesting tactics, though. Veeeerrry interesting. Though Lam isn't about to get too confident just yet. That's been his downfall more than once in this tourney.[break][break]

Speaking of teensy weensy - Pops recoils from the wrap of the froakie's tongue. The little bird cheeping in irritations as her feathers come away slimy from the LICK.[break][break]

Honestly, he's lucky Poppy is too invested in the fight - otherwise she might've pooped right on his shoulder for the offense.[break][break]

"Big guns, Pops!" he calls up to her, and the pidove shoots up into the air with the glimmer of z-energy beginning to brighten around her. She stops abruptly, the spray of water following her up and soaking her feathers.[break][break]

And then she drops straight down at the froakie like a lead bullet, gaining speed and durability for impact as she nears closer to her target.[break][break]

meteoric mini missile: the pokemon gathers z-energy to forge a plumage-like shell around it before colliding with its target with detonation level impact.

First with kyle lopez, he'd used the z-move too late. Here, it seems like it turned out to be premature. He sighs, a hand sweeping through his hair as Poppy craters the ground.[break][break]
The toughness of the build up around her is enough to break the fall without damage, but again she is struck by a disgusting LICK.[break]break]

Despite the typical disadvantage, she lashes out with a barrage of angry chirps - wings drumming up the swelter of a HEATWAVE to dry the frog out.
