"oi, hoenn hotshot," he calls cian's attention. "you work with weather stuff on your gym, right?"

he stops himself from talking for a bit as he chomps down on his burger. kyle seats comfortably on one of the outside tables of lilycove's pogdonald's, and across him is another vct enthusiast, cian.

as he swallows the piece in his mouth, he motions to the culmination of clouds above the city.

"that doesn't seem normal, right?"

weather forecast told them clear skies with a chance of snow. there was nothing about thunderstorms of any kind as far as kyle knows.

"are you planning to do anything with it?" he asks.

he doesn't know much about it, but it does look like it hangs out in the sky with the thunderclouds. depending on how he looks at it, it might be able to affect the battles down the ground.

for a poochyena, the worst it can do it get static on his pokemon's fur so it stands out to its ends. for cian, however...

"maybe it could randomly drop lightning bolts. that would suck if you're using a water-type for the tournament."

he supposed his own mind works differently than others since his first thought was to try and dissuade it from interacting with the tournament rather than the possibility of others doing the opposite.

"they say they all want to be at least involved with the course of history," he replies, paraphrasing an answer he was given before. "hoenn's the hot spot of all weird happenings after all."

he finds himself taking a picture, even though it probably already had other pictures of it with higher quality cameras in the internet.

"i guess that's why they call hoenn the origin point."

there's no need for kyle to take a picture because shortly after the camera clicks, the thundurus high up in the clouds makes its descent as quick as lightning before appearing before them with a cracking THUNDER.[break][break]

it stares at them with its large arms (hands?) hovering by its side, clearly intimidating to at least one of them.[break][break]

cian swallows the lump in his throat and peers up at it.[break][break]

he flinches. as with cian, his heart beats faster than normal. he attempts to keep his cool as he readies himself for the worst case scenario.

with a name like thundurus, kyle consciously makes a mental note of where his manectric's pokeball was for its lightning rod. he doesn't make any movement that indicates action though, wary that it would illicit a negative reaction from the pokemon.

"uh, um, good morning?"

that was his contribution to the awkward introduction that cian gave. he decides to follow his lead and give his name as well, freezing in place while waiting to see the thundurus' intent.

"i-i'm kyle... yeah..."

that was the only angle he can see from cian's intro of his presentation.

kyle watches it fly away, stifling a laugh until the thundurus is way out of their sight. only then does he let go, though he still covers his mouth with the back of his hand for some semblance of courtesy.

"you really should have led with another statement, hoenn hotshot."

he forgets the first 'h' once again.
