The thought of Avatarship was, for most people, a drug. A dragon to chase. Cillian himself had pursued it with such fervour that he'd thought to challenge a legend in its own domain. But Temp did not broach the idea with awe, but apprehension.[break][break]

"It's possible." Cillian's not the type to lie to his husband, to offer false comforts. He'd told howard slayte as much. "But it's also possible they're fucking with you because of me. The friends of your enemies, and all."[break][break]

Or in this case, the lover.[break][break]

His throat feels dry as he admits, soft, "You, um. You were. Dead, in the universe they made me live through."[break][break]

He can't say the word, suicide, for fear it would shed light on a possibility Cillian didn't want to entertain. He knew how the call of the void often sang to his husband. He didn't like to consider the possibility that Temp might answer its siren song.

While still unsure of the intention, it's clear that Cillian Quinn's words do provide some bit of relief. Thought, it is not without annoyance. Tempest doesn't want to be used as a lynchpin to manipulate his husband any more than he wants to be beholden to some wannabe God.[break][break]

"I've only ever met one of me before." Looking back, that was....[break][break]

"It's always my sister. I wonder what that says about me." But, he noses along Cillian's throat until he presses a warm kiss on the other's cheek. If he closes his eyes, he can pretend to taste cigarette smoke instead the ghost of ocean's salt.[break][break]

"That won't happen to me." The promise is whispered between the two of them. "I have too much to live for."[break][break]

It won't get rid of all the bad feelings he had. The void will still sing it's sweet song. He will still aspire to be a martyr. Yet, it will not be by his own hands that Tempest Quinn will ever fall.

Cillian closes his eyes as Temp's lips ghost along his cheek. He takes comfort in their closeness, in the fact that his husband is solid and real and alive in this universe, and the Triad have not taken that away from him.[break][break]

Eyes still closed, he seeks his husband's hand to entwine their fingers.[break][break]

"I'll hold you to that."[break][break]

The thought of losing Temp terrifies him, and so he pushes it aside and focuses on the present. The warmth of his husband's body chasing away the living room's chill, the soft tickle of his breath against skin. He's in no mood for deep intimacy, doubts Temp is either, but this is enough.
