the one drink they shared at the vital city tournament was short-lived and had left cian wanting more because Yuina Higashi seemed like a really interesting person, or at least that was the impression she left on him after twenty minutes of chatting.[break][break]

The assignments were nonstop, in much the same fasion the assignments on the island on route 105 were. Finish one expedition, have time for a little rest, get prepared for the next expedition, repeat. The entire chasm was vast, sprawling, even with all of the resources and volunteer efforts the league was gathering, it still didn't feel like it would ever be enough to truly understand this new place...[break][break]
However, she wouldn't be going without good company, a chance to meet with CIAN MAHER again after their chat at the tournament not too long ago. She'd had a great time during their battle and afterwards, getting to make that many more new friends along the way. And had learned that he was a gym leader then, so she wasn't surprised to see his name come up on her next assignment report.[break][break]
"Cian, it's good to see you again," Yuina returned as he called out to her, Daikenki barked in greeting as well to a familiar face as the Samurott walked beside her.[break]
"If we manage to come out of this alright, we'll go get another drink, yeah?"

Ready as she would never be, grass disappearing into cave rock and shimmering tera crystals, Yuina looked on as she neared Cian. She mused, the idea of enjoying another drink with him after an event of sorts enjoyable, and he took it in stride.[break][break]
"Is that right? I guess I should count myself lucky then," Yuina laughed, the kind that was laughing with him, not at him. She wasn't mocking, it was a genuine amusement, and... It felt nice to laugh, in spite of where they were, the danger that lurked, the darkness that threatened to consume her everyday...[break]
"How have I been? I'll bore you with all of the details of my exhibit review, after we're done here," Yuina smiled, only half joking, her recent review process for her exhibits couldn't be very exciting to many others...[break][break]
"The readings of the interdream mist levels aren't good Cian..." she returned, a bit more solemn after a moment, knowing their assignment... The interdream mist, plus the energy from the tera crystals was creating a very hostile environment, there could very well be more Paradox Pokemon than they two alone could undertake.

Cian's confidence was welcome, Yuina smiled again at his quick turn around. He was joking, in a manner, touting their titles for fun, but he didn't seem too shaken. That may only be because he was a gym leader with experience that entirely shadowed her own, but at least one of them was confident in the work they were getting ready to do.[break][break]
"You're right, we're on the assignment for a reason. Our match must have been one of the highlights of the tournament," Yuina smiled back, another small laugh. It made the gravity of the situation easier to carry.[break]
"I guess the only thing left to do is follow our sensors until we get to the highest concentration of interdream mist, and see what is waiting for us," Yuina returned, taking out a Pokeball. She trusted Centos implicitly down here, the sword had already done great work, and she appreciated being able to work with him. So with Daikenki out and ready, she also drew out the iron sword to start their endeavor, beginning into the depths of Area Zero.

In spite of how beautiful the glittering cave was, the tera crystals that shimmered and sparkled with every type of energy that was out there, the tension only grew was their devices proved they were getting close to the disturbance they were there to investigate...[break][break]
"How do we stop them all... Before they get too close to the surface," Yuina wondered, she'd been thinking about it this whole time, what were they supposed to do? She wasn't looking to... Cause too much harm, the Paradoxes were still Pokemon after all... In a way... But they would be a plague upon the region if they got too far...[break][break]
"Do you think we should try to dispell the interdream mist? Find the source in the area and seal it? Or try and destroy some of the tera crystals to keep the energy from surging," she tried to think, thinking back to serving her time on the island that rose from route 105. She was mostly thinking to herself, but thinking outloud, as she glanced to Cian at his comment of Centos being 'shiny'.[break]
She turned and looked at Centos for a moment, he was made of metal... So she supposed he was shiny? But, all of the swords that had emerged from the icelands were all made of metal...[break][break]
"Oh, thanks, Centos ended up helping me in the icelands, when Kyurem attacked, and he's been great coming down here too."

Moving through the glittering caverns without much other thought yet, focused on the sensors that were leading them towards the terrible levels of interdream mist, Yuina too was caught unawares by the sudden shift and trembling of an earthquake. [break]
She gasped, both when Cian's Pokemon rooted them to the ground, and when he grabbed onto her arm, ducking her head a bit to avoid all of the dust and pebbles that started to shower down around them from the disturbance. With her free hand, Yuina clutched onto Cian's forearm that held her, out of reflex, trying to be as steady as possible as the earth shuddered around them, her breath caught in her chest... Hoping that it would pass...[break][break]
Everything fell still again, the quiet more deafaning than it was before... as if to say that it wasn't truly over...[break]
"It... It's not unresonable to think... That given this massive disturbance in the earth's crust, that the plates are still shifting... Trying to settle," Yuina spoke after a hesitant moment, her voice quiet, almost a whisper, in fear of disturbing how delicate the environment still proved to be. After another moment, it seemed everything would be fine... For now... and Yuina moved to unlatch herself from Cian, releasing a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding.[break][break]
"I didn't bring any of my flying Pokemon with me... Do you have anything with you that could create a current to break up the density of the mist?"

Checking her sensor again, they were nearing the very heart of the high density of interdream mist levels that had been reported, the area that they were concerned with. If they could work together... Maybe they could seal up and get rid of the high concentration before anything terrible happened...[break]
"Cian that's perfect, okay, you work on getting as much of the mist out of here as you can, we need to find where it's coming from," Yuina started, smiling at their good fortune that things were coming together.[break][break]
"Once we find where the mist is coming from, if it's coming out of a crevice or something, we can seal it, an then there won't be enough concentration for anything to emerge," Yuina continued, motioning Centos forward, the psychic type's energy began to glow, an attempt to start looking for the source of it all.[break][break]
Her hope was that they would be able to get this squared away before they could be swarmed by the impossible amount of Pokemon that could emerge from the dense mist... But lurking around them, they were already not alone.

Searching with Centos, Daikenki staying close, Yuina began trying to see if she could find the highest concentration of the mist as Cian worked with his Pokemon to keep breaking up the density. For a moment, Yuina thought that they would be able to do this just fine, until Centos stopped, and Cian spoke...[break][break]
Mechanical whirring spread through the cavern, an ominous sound of what was to come... And from all around them, various colors of energy, not unlike Centos began to take form. Bright pink blades, green spikes, orange wings, and far too many pairs of seething red eyes that peered at them...[break][break]
"We're too late...," Yuina whispered, stepping back, stepping in closer towards Cian... They were surrounded.[break][break]
An Iron Valiant was the first to breach the perimeter, lunging forward with its blades fully extended, and Daikenki barked as he in turn moved to take the first strike, matching blades with blades. It had begun.
