[attr="class","littleollie"] "noel!" ollie looks up as soon as the door opens, face brightening at the sight of his friend. he needs no more excuse to abandon his paperwork, standing up to go greet him at the door. he grasps the other man's hand in a handshake, bringing him into a half-hug as he slaps him on the shoulder.

[break][break] ollie lets out a laugh.

[break][break] "way to make it vague."

[break][break] he steps away from him, gesturing him into one of the chairs that are unfortunately piled with a bunch of random belongings. ollie picks up the paperwork that's stacked on the desk, along with his ranger coat, and throws them onto the nearby couch.

[break][break] "come on, sit sit."

[break][break] he leans back against the back of his desk then, reaching to grab a clipboard that he always has lying around.

[break][break] "okay, here we go. noel, why do you wanna be a ranger?"

[attr="class","littleollie"] To help Pokemon and humans alike, hadn't Ollie had heard the same before? Hadn't he wanted the same before?

[break][break] Part of him admired Noel Parker's idealism — it reminded him of a younger version of himself.

[break][break] "If the people you want to fight most with are Rocket, then why the Rangers?"

[break][break] Of all the sectors of the League, it was the Rangers that held the most contention when it came to their faction-based war. After all, the Rangers had an Amnesty program that supported the very people that Noel Parker wanted to fight.

[break][break] "You can continue the gym circuit, become a strong trainer or even a Gym Leader that fights them on the frontlines."

[break][break] He crosses his arms.

[break][break] "What would you do if you had to fight alongside an ex-Rocket?"

[break][break] "Never thought you'd say something like that, Noel."

[break][break] How long had he known the younger man? Ollie had always seen him as someone who wanted to chase power more than anything. After all, wasn't kyle lopez his idol?

[break][break] "But you're right. That is exactly what the Rangers are all about."

[break][break] He grins ear to ear now, eager to hear the same sentiments that he's always felt reflected in a man that he considers a childhood friend.

[break][break] "All I'm asking is to keep an open mind. You don't need to become their best friend." His memory flashes back to Caleb Harcourt, and his expression smooths over. "But there's a goodness in everyone. Some people were just led down the wrong path, that's all."

[break][break] Ollie reaches behind him and offers the other man a manila folder. In it's contents he would find out an already-completed application, a ranger badge and a beginner's manual for how to set up his League-approved Poketech.

[break][break] "I'm making you jump through all these hoops, but let's be real. You were always going to be given an invitation."

[break][break] "Welcome to the Rangers, Noel."

[break][break] Ollie lets out a good-natured chuckle.

[break][break] He had never thought he would be here, not in a million years. But life has a way of twisting in ways that you didn't expect, and even then, he didn't think he would change his path — not if it meant allowing young Rangers like Noel Parker the opportunity that he presented him today.

[break][break] "Well," he said, crossing his arms. "Up to you!"

[break][break] "Your training can start as quickly as tomorrow."

[break][break] "I'm gonna have to teach you the ropes, or maybe one of the Ranger Captain's. Unless you have a preference."

[break][break] His eyes twinkled.

[break][break] "You're friends with Elise Calcifet, aren't cha?"

[break][break] At the mere mention of Caleb Harcourt's name, the Head Ranger's expression seemed to light up. It was a hard thing to do, especially considering the fact that Ollie was almost always like a beaming sun in the summertime.

[break][break] "That's great! Maybe I can set up you and Caleb then. He's an Elite Ranger, you know. And he'd be a great mentor."

[break][break] Noel Parker could find out on his own the other's ties to the Amnesty Program, if he didn't know of them already. But maybe it was better that he didn't share those details with him. Caleb could be kinda picky about that kind of thing, after all.

[break][break] "Yes, she is," he said with a nod. "She's been for a while. Though, I'm not sure how she finds the time. Since she's also Galar's Ambassador."

[break][break] Most certainly, she probably had to split her time doing work and then more work, but it wasn't like Ollie could critique her — he spent a stupid amount of time in his own office as well. It was hard not to, when you loved the work that you did.

[break][break] "I can set you up for a day with her too," he said with a nod then, scribbling on a piece of paper to remind himself to send the details to Elise Calcifet and Caleb Harcourt both.
