It’s unexpectedly quiet as they descend deeper into the Great Chasm. The rocks crunch softly beneath their boots and the strange sensation of deja vu creeps across her mind. She inhales deeply, the cool air of the chasm running through her lungs and bringing with it the lingering scent of a cigarette that clings to her jacket. It brings a sense of peace with a subtle desire.

She’s quiet, as usual, not offering up more than what’s required of her. She follows a half step behind Theo, one hand in the pocket of her leather jacket and the other resting on a pokeball at the ready. She knows there are predators lurking in the shadows, ready to pick off the weak and complacent.

Lex assumes there’s a pretty good reason they are here. She doesn’t bog herself down with worrying about the details. When you’re the one that follows orders, it’s not worth it. She doesn’t necessarily trust Theo blindly, but what else does she have to lose? Absolutely nothing. It’s really a freeing feeling.

Her dark red lips pinch into a frown, and she reaches into her own pocket. She produces a light that flares to life under the flick of her thumb. It’s orange flame dances in the stagnant air, beckoning Theo closer to light his cigarette and satisfy his craving.

The flame dances in her amber eyes that watch him with a sense of curiosity and anticipation. Like a Caterpie drawn to a Honey trap, the promise of something delicious that could ultimately wreck you.

An insatiable craving stirs in her chest, so her lips part to breathe deeply; to taste him and smell him in the white smoke. Her features darken when the light is extinguished and slowly placed back into her pocket. She lingers in his orbit, a gravitational pull she seems content with.

Lex’s eyes find his, and she smiles ever so slightly in the haze of his cigarette, “Because my only agenda is you,” until it’s not.

Lex basks in the haze which might be mistaken for his gaze. She breathes in the fresh plume, licking her lips beneath her subtle smile. The normally rigid and on edge former beast finds her moment of peace in the nostalgia and the high it brings which drives her to speak more candidly than normal.

“Nothing lasts forever,” the somber tone in her voice hints towards her learned experiences. Eventually, the smoke would dissipate and the stale air would be a painful reminder of what she’s lost and what she can’t have, “But I’m sure we will find ways to remain mutually . . . useful.”

Her eyes wander for a moment, openly assessing the man in front of her as she traces his figure from the blonde hair down to his boots. She is judging, or perhaps letting her mind formulate some other uses.

“You may not have another use,” Her voice almost sounds playful. She shrugs gently, leaving some optimism to hang in the air, “We’ll see.”

And they would, eventually. Beyond her desire for vengeance she doesn’t really know what she wants. Everything else has been suffocated, revenge is all she can see, feel, and taste. Lex has always been a feircly loyal woman. Earn her loyalty, and it certainly does not go unrewarded.

Something that reassembles the combination of a grin and smile creases across her dark lips as he brushes past her, “Good things come to those who wait,” this time, there is clearly a playfulness that dances through her words.

Lex is quick to spin on her heels, following the wake of the hazy smoke. Her hands find their way to the pockets of her leather jacket again. The ex-beast’s gaze drifted between the back of Theo’s head and the growing crystal formations around them.

“Heard of ‘em. But that’s about it,” she doesn’t bother to busy herself with Hoenn’s politics. It’s not her job to protect the region from extraterrestrial forces, “I think I saw them in Littleroot?” It’s more of a question than a statement. The events of Littelroot were a blur and she didn’t look for answers.

Lex nods along with his explanation, gaze flickering between the tall spires of crystals that surround them, “Hmph,” she finally grunts in thought, “They sound lovely,” her voice drips with sarcasm worked off the playfulness in it earlier.

“Maybe I should have just stayed in Johto,” she absentmindedly let the little tidbit of information slip, offering a clue to her whereabouts and what she was up to in her extended absence. She can’t retract the words so she lets them linger before continuing, “So are we just destroying their encampment? Or do they have something we want?”
