A...Palace. An actual palace. The huge figure squinted at the regal edifice, eyeing the sweeping lines of the architecture, the flowing, gauzy curtains, the abundance of flowers and...Utter lack of defensible sensibilities that went into the construction of the Garnet house, a little ways off. Oh, he'd expected an abundance of flair and pomp in the design of the structure, given the favoured traits espoused by the faction, but really now. They would need some exceptional trainers to hold a solid line of defense, let alone withstand a concentrated siege in that airy monument to frivolity.[break][break]

He grunted, shaking his head to himself as he rose, dusting off the faint traces of sand that clung his legs. He hoped, for the Garnets sake, that they either experienced a flood of signups, or they had more going on beneath the pretty surface than was apparent.[break][break]

Settled near the front of their so called palace, Lenora basks on a recliner in nothing more than a two piece and a transparent beach dress over it. She wears a wide brimmed sunhat and a pair of large, red rimmed sunglasses. In her hand, she holds a cocktail of sorts and at her side is a bottle of water. Looking to the left, Lenora's scolipede lays down, eyes closed. A Sylveon is curled on top of him. To her right, her Illumise has joined her in sunbathing.

Lenora takes a sip and pushes herself up. From over the brim of her glasses, she observes the newcomer. She giggles.

"You're not part of Gorebyss," she says, an insult lined in her words in spite of the cheerful way she speaks. "I'm Lenora! Do you need something? Are you lost? I could get you a refreshment - the cooler's right over there! Unless you want to battle in which case, you should probably go somewhere else."

all he wants is a nice brunch by the beach but - as is the natural course of things - someone has to ruin it. [break][break]

fishel watches the exchange between the... the challenger? and lenora from a small balcony, and after a long, contemplative moment, he irritably folds the newspaper he had been reading. [break][break]

he rises from the chair and tosses out a capsule, allowing an inkay to materialise in a particularly blinding shimmer of silver and bronze sparkles (courtesy of his kalosian pokeball seals, of course). [break][break]

"make sure he doesn't even get to release a pokemon, please," fishel murmurs to the pokemon, jutting his chin down at the man. he pauses to stretch languidly, not unlike a stirring delcatty. [break][break]

"everything under control down there, lenny? can you handle the tourist?"

The feminine voice drew his attention, eyes flickering over to her as he turned his head to face the reclining woman. A brow rose, arching over the plain pair of aviator style sunglasses he wore - unbranded, cheap. [break] [break]

She'd said that like it was some sort of insult. His lips twisted in a wry curl of amusement a he considered her, and the sheer indolence with which she lounged, like an escapee from some third rate reality TV show. "No. Not a Gorebyss." The words were delivered without heat, simple stayed in an even, almost amiable manner.
[break] [break]

He provided a polite smile in response to her offer, inclining his head minutely. "A pleasure to meet you, Lenora. I'm Bronze." a sardonic note entered his voice as he went on. "I'd shake your hand, but I wouldn't want to disturb you." Or break one of your precious nails.
[break] [break]

A hand clad in fingerless gloves of dark fabric waved dismissively through the air, the bronze studs of the knuckles gleaming in the dazzling sun. "I'm not here for a fight. Just taking a look, that's all."[break] [break]

A flash of scintillating, metallic colour snapped his focus upwards to the balcony where a man was mid stretch, a newly released pokemon by his side. A soft snort of breath from the nose was the only outward expression of the amusement Bronze felt, and he suppressed the urge to roll his eyes at these pampered preeners. He made no move to reach for the trio of customized pokeballs that shone at his waist, instead letting out a whistle that went from a low pitch then swung high before cutting off abruptly. [break] [break]

In response, the sand beneath his feet trembled very slightly as it vibrated in time to three sets of heavy footfalls somewhere nearby. Bronze flashed the man that stood above him a broad smile full of teeth, stating. "No need. Like I said, I'm not here for a fight. I'm letting everyone enjoy the sun and prepare today."

A rumble so deep it resonated within his chest thrummed and pulsed through the air, setting the liquid in Lenora's glass to rippling gently as the head of a truly massive Tyranitar rose into view from close by. The outsider gksncrd at it from the corner of his eye and called out, "Matun-Rah, collect the others and head on back, get something to drink. We're taking it easy today."

"yeah! go battle!"

the yell comes from kyle, who's way away from where the talking happened. a blue scarf is tied to his arm in case that tricks people into thinking he was on the other team. beside him is a mightyena, cause what else would he release for his own selection of six mightyena in his party.

this was a war. he sees no war happening. even if he wasn't a part of it, he wanted to see chaos and battles. he only likes peace if it affects him, and this seemed like a confrontation of two other factions. he was only here to speed things up and redo the events of the last aqua festival.

"uproar."

a deafening sound from his mightyena fills the open space, somewhat acting as a siren for the battle to start. fingers on his ears, he begins to back away as he gives everyone else migraines.

Lenora tilts her head up to look at the figure of Fishel then back down to the man. Bronze - what a strange sort of name, even stranger than Fishel. She giggles again, mimicking his gesture with a wave of her own hand, though it's hard to tell if she's dismissing what he's said or is simply waving hello.

"Prepare!" she repeats with a bright laugh. "Aren't you so sweet? Really, some people take this whole thing so seriously so it's such a relief to have a friendly face who isn't here to try and start something! My darling Magnus really isn't much of a fighter so really, if someone were to try and fight me, I just wouldn't know what to do! I would probably cry and then my mascara would run and the entire thing would - "

The sand rumbles underneath and Lenora drops her drink to clamp her hands over her ears. When the noise ends, she stumbles to her feet, a faint ringing left behind. She looks to the man in the distance.

"That is so rude! That is really just so very rude! That's not nice at all! You, Bronze - you ought to take care of him! You look strong and capable and I'm really such a horrible fighter and Fishel up there isn't much better. We're both here to have a nice time and enjoy ourselves and instead we're being attacked!"

She clasps her hands together and looks to the man with large, glistening eyes. Lenora looks as if she might very well cry.

he gestures to the large bug-type beside the whiny lady and then back to his mightyena. the motions repeat themselves as he tries to make a point.

"you have a scolipede! this is a fucking mightyena! if anything, i'm at the disadvantage."

the disparity in their natural prowess was immense. discounting size and strength, mightyenas are often pokemon that do not have any tricks or gimmicks under their belt unless one specifically trained them to do so. it was hard enough to find them a niche in battle, unlike how one would be with a scolipede.

"they die from a single hit or something!"

he goes to shape his fingers to a gun and 'shoots' the mightyena. it drops dead on the sands as it does the trick. it's still alive though.

"see?"

Lenora takes her sunglasses off and waves them in the air. "You must be mistaken if you think my darling Magnus is meant for fighting. Oh no, he's delicate as can be! Your Mightyena would surely hurt him in a single hit, scarring him for life and then what? Then what would I do!"

She steps forward, past Bronze.

"I would cry, is what I would have to do! He's a show pokemon, you know. He's a talented show stopper but what good would he be with a massive battle wound? Why, he'd be nothing! You would take his and my own life purpose away. Whenever the crowds see him, all they would see is a nasty reminder of a pokemon sent to war. Not a dazzling star, meant to delight! Oh, I can't stand the thought!"

She tucks an end of her glasses into her dress so they hang there.

"If you're going to kill us, at least kill me first so I don't have to watch. But make sure you do it quickly and make sure I look pretty when I die, okay? That's really all I ask if you're forcing my hand. You can have whatever's on my corpse so long as I'm a beautiful corpse. Do you hear that, Bronze? Make sure I look beautiful. Ask Fishel for help. He has very good taste. I wouldn't trust this stranger and his hair to leave me a pretty body behind."

lenora gray talks too much. kyle doesn't have the capacity to listen to everything she utters. somewhere down the line, his focus falters and he only manages to grasp the main points and not the finer details of whatever story she is saying.

"i wish killing was allowed by the law to be honest." he sighs with disappointment following the statement.

he can understand that she's protective with her pokemon. kyle was, too, until his migthyena -- then, a poochyena -- started to get on his nerves and make him want to throw them out of the streets.

"so, uh, you're just here to hang out then? can you and your house give in now? please? will make everyone else's lives better, i promise."

Lenora pauses to consider his words and his offer, to really try and think about it. She claps her hands together and smiles as brightly as she ever has after a long pause. Her teeth are white in the sort of way only rich people who spend too much money caring for themselves can be.

The rumbling of Matun-Rah’s warning deepened upon hearing with the furious uproar unleashed by that thrice-damned idiot and his pack of moronic, ill-trained dogs. Bronze’s fingers twitched as he caught sight of the brainless fool, and he took a moment to relish the vivid image of strangling the hapless, witless creature unto death. [break][break]

A deep, weary sigh loosed from his lips as Bronze lifted a hand to massage firmly at the corded, tense muscles on the back of his neck, tilting his head one way, then the other. This event had barely begun and he was already contemplating feeding some of the contestants to the first Sharpedo he lay his eyes on. He was beginning to question where he’d emerge at the end of the month without blood on his hands, or his sanity in check. [break][break]

In response to Lenora’s attempts at coaxing him into defending her and her pokemon, Bronze simply frowned, giving his head a slow shake. No way was he about to get drawn into a fight, on the side of an enemy team. Did she think him an idiot? All she had to do was flutter her eyes and his glands would render him a drooling, willing servant? Honestly.[break][break]

At the talk of beautiful corpses, the tall man eyes her speculatively and shrugs in an agreeable fashion. “I think I can manage that. Quality enough clay to work with, after all, so long as this idiot-” and here he gestured at kyle with a jerk of his thumb and a roll of the eyes - “-doesn’t try a hyper beam or the like at your face. It’d be a little difficult to repair that sort of damage. And believe me, he’s stupid enough and reckless enough to do it.”[break][break]

he shrugs when lenora gray does not consider his proposition to her. not that anyone really thought that exchange was serious.

hearing it from @bronze that he's stupid and reckless was a good change of pace. he doesn't want to think that he's masochistic enough to find pleasure in someone insulting him, however, so he forgets that thought.

"praise him!" he yells at lenora gray. "tell him he's cool and dependable!"
