It was raining in the GIANT CHASM. The jungle the RANGER and his partner Atreyu Hargrave inhabited was no doubt enjoying said rain, but it certainly made their job harder. Whatever had attacked their LEAGUE RESEARCH STATION the other night was now having its tracks covered by the weather.[break][break]

The MILOTIC belonging to Audric Black doesn't seem to care, however. In fact, she sings a happy little song as she slithers about through the foliage in search of fruit. Her trainer, in the meantime, sighs as he stands up from inspecting the raptor-like footprint in the mud. With every passing second, it was slowly disappearing.[break][break]

"The trail ends here..." The HOLONITE remarks, adjusting the hood of his raincoat before turning to Atreyu. "If we had more people, I'd suggest fanning out, but this place seems dangerous. Especially in the rain." He adds, casting a wary look around them. "Got any ideas?"[break][break]

Trey hadn't expected to be teamed up with someone so quickly, especially since he wasn't exactly affiliated with any certain path. He wouldn't be part of Rocket—he knew that much—but he hadn't put much stock in anything else.

His mouth drew into a thin line. That was partially a lie; he was definitely interested in the Ranger side of things. He just hadn't done anything about it yet.

Regardless, that wasn't exactly important now; he could mull it over later. Right now he was supposed to be tracking a Paradox Pokemon with a guy he didn't know from Adam while it was raining cats and dogs. Still, it could've been worse. At least they had a clear path to follow—

As soon as the other party halted, Trey bent over to peer at the tracks as well—tracks that were rapidly turning into indistinguishable mud. He huffed a laugh, whipping out his phone to take a quick pick of the remaining footprint for later before sighing.

"Well, I would say maybe we could rely on Indigo's sense of smell, but the rain is sort of making tracking that way impossible too," he supplied, looking at the Absol beside him. The pokemon stepped up to sniff the print, but upon looking deeper into the jungle, he gave a low, displeased noise. Trey patted his head. He'd still be a valuable asset in the journey ahead; an Absol's ability to sense danger could be a boon. Trey worried his lip, perplexed, until a large tree trunk marred with jagged scratches caught his attention. "Do we know much about its behavior yet? Other than it having a fondness for destroying camps, ha." He walked over to study the marks, tracing a finger across them. The wood pulp had yet to be washed away—it seemed to be fresh. "If this came from our pokemon, chances are it's headed in this direction."[b/]

"I don't know anything about it," Audric responds with a grin. "Isn't that exciting?" He practically bounces up onto both feet again like a Scorbunny as they determine the direction they're headed into afterward.[break][break]

"I mean, I've heard rumors and stuff about it, sure. But as a wildlife biologist, I tend not to those as scientific fact." He adds, weaving his way through the gigantic jungle plants and trees that fill the area. "It's probably one of those PARADOX POKEMON though, right? I've actually never seen one in person..." The ranger adds.[break][break]

Meanwhile, as the two speak, a pair of strange red eyes stalks them from above, obscured by thick foliage...[break][break]
