[attr="class","text"] Lam couldn’t really claim to be a fish guy. In fact, he was rather the opposite. From an early age, he’d been wary of many aquatic pokemon, and many water-types in general—though he never really could pinpoint a reason as to why.[break][break]
Having grown up on Mele Mele, the irony of an island dweller’s aversion to this particular type wasn’t lost on him.[break][break]
But he’d never been averse to water itself, and it was something he was actively trying to, well, overcome. The gaggle of Psyduck he’d collected had helped with that—easing him into a sense of comfort with their avian ties, despite being flightless. He was also fond of his feraligatr, though she was also pointedly not a fish.[break][break]
Even if he still didn’t quite care for the beady-eyed stare that most fish sorts bore. It was unnerving especially as he walked down the long corridor of the aquarium. He’d brought along Peaches, who waddled just behind him along with a second Psyduck he’d recently come into possession of. It was much shyer, and he’d been hoping that the more outgoing psyduck would coax it out of its shell.[break][break]
If anything, at least, both psyducks seemed to be enjoying the sight of colorful aquatic pokemon twirling through the tank in bright, aquamarine water. Lam, meanwhile, was convinced each and every one was staring at him with murderous intent.[break][break]
They hadn’t just come here to observe, though. They actually had a task. Some displaced Pokémon in Lilycove’s waters needed safe rehabilitation. Even Lam could aside his irrational fears to assist that sort of bid for help. The Pokémon in question were tucked safely away inside pokeballs, anyway.[break][break]
With a tilt of his head, he nodded at the Psyduck and they wandered away from a particularly colorful display of corsola, toward the directory. Someone was already there, and Lam glanced in the young man’s direction sidelong. “Wouldn't happen to know where on here the rehabilitation drop off is, would you?”

Zachary, along side his Delphox Dizzy, and his Mime Jr Happy, observed the quiet scenes of watery coves and artificial streams, though the pokemon there were a bit sparce. Some fish pokemon like Goldeen and other types swam around, but nothing more outstanding. A quillfish was one of the more unique ones. As things were growing a bit too quiet, someone spoke up to their attention. [break][break] Zachary turned to see the green-haired stranger, and with him two Psyducks of all things. Zachary glanced at him, at the mention of the "Rehabilitation center'. [break][break] "Um, sorry I don't. I'm just here as a guest and visitor. Maybe its somewhere back at the main corridor..." Zachary paused as he caught sight of the two Psyducks with him. His eyes showed interest. [break][break] "Oh wow... those are amazing Psyducks. I had wanted one for a long time. I love how they have psychic power even though they are water types." he said, leaning closer to the ducks. [break][break] The Mime Jr with him soon approached the ducks, seeing their hands grasping their heads in poor headaches. As if to greet the ducks, Happy used his little hands on his own head, mimicking the same gesture as if thinking it was the Psyduck's way of saying hello. [break][break] Zachary shook his head at the silliness of his Mime Jr. "I'm Zachary, by the way. As for the Rehab center, maybe we can find it." he offered. [break][break]

[attr="class","text"] “Ah, sorry to bother then,” he replied with a sheepish chuckle, “probably should’ve figured someone who works here wouldn’t be looking at the map.” They’d probably already know where to go, right? His expression turned thoughtful, and he looked over the map again. “Yeah, that might be right…”[break][break]
His preoccupation faltered, though, at the mention of his companions. “Oh, thanks! They’re great company, even if they’re a bit panicky.” At the suggestion, Peaches let out an indignant PSY in protest. Lam was quick to amend– “Okay, okay, so Peaches isn’t panicky.” She was a sassy little duck, though, but saying as much would earn him more attitude.[break][break]
He’d pick his battles.[break][break]
The other one, though…that psyduck was far shyer and anxious. “You a fan of psychic types, then?” he asked, watching as Peaches nudged the other one forward–encouraging it to greet both the young man and his mime jr. She herself blinked in confusion at the little, pink pokemon, a webbed paw reaching out to poke at its forehead when it mimicked their mannerisms. “They’re great–I’ve got Peaches here suited up with psychic tera typing. It’s a useful trick in battles.”[break][break]
Despite its shyness, the psyduck peered at the strangers with a degree of curiosity. Though it still remained partially hidden behind Lam’s legs, paws still pressed to its noggin. Lam, on the other hand, smiled at their newfound company. “That’d be helpful! I don’t come here too often.” He stuck a hand out, “I’m Lam.”

Zachary got a general idea for the "Rehab" center based on the staff only areas on the map. All of them, including his Pokemon walked with Lam as he asked him questions. "Yeah, I'm pretty dedicated as a Psychic Pokemon trainer, but I train other types too. I do love finding Pokemon who can use psychic techniques even if their types are not related. " Zachary explained, "I love the mystery and magic that they command or represent. They're really cool!" Zachary said with pride of his pokemon. Especially his Delphox that walked beside them. [break][break] As they walked, Zachary did appreciate meeting another enthusiastic trainer like him. All the while as they walked, Happy the Mime Jr continued to mimic Psyduck, which made the Delphox just sigh at his silly friend. [break][break] They soon reached the area that was for Rehab center. They knocked on the door and entered. [break][break]"Excuse me? is someone here? " Zachary asked, checking inside. [break][break] The inside was a laboratory of sorts, with several tanks too-- some that were kept indoors, another part that seemed to lead outside. As they entered, they soon found a lab technician, wearing rather thick glasses. [break][break]"Oh hello there. How can I help you?" the man asked, adjusting his glasses, and spying the pokemon with him. "My that is quite an array of Pokemon you have there. Are you both trainers?" he asked. [break][break]

[attr="class","text"] Content to let Zach lead the way, Lam walked alongside him, nodding quietly in response to the answers he was given. “Well! Psyduck are pretty on the nose for that skill. That’s pretty cool, though–there are a few types I like to focus on myself, but I try to keep a variety for work.” It kept him balanced, since his gym ascribed more to a battle style than a specific type itself.[break][break]
As they moved along, Peaches caught onto the Mime Jr’s mimicry– soon she began maneuvering through strange gestures, eyes darting back to Happy each time. Just to see if he would repeat after her.[break][break]
Petering to a stop, he slid the back on his back off of his shoulders. He peered curiously at the space behind the front desk, only for his face to light up in a good natured smile when the attendant appeared from a back room. Nodding in response to their questions, Lam held up the bag before setting it on the counter. “Yeah! Or well, I”m the gym leader over in Lilycove, actually. I called earlier this week about some displaced pokemon that needed treatment.”[break][break]
Opening the zipper, he presented a gathering of net and dive balls, all housing a variety of aquatic pokemon. “Maybe their migration was off course, but they’re not usually in Lilycove’s harbor.”[break][break]
“Oh, right– I do recall my supervisor informing me that you’d be in today. Come along…” The attendant pushed up his glasses and then gestured for them to come around toward the back facility. Not just Lam, but both of them.

Happy and Psyduck continued their game of "Simon Says" as Happy indeed mimicked Psyduck in his different poses, beaming a smile when the Psyduck saw him mimick him. It was quite adorable. All the while, Dizzy the Delphox sighed as he saw the childish behavior of the two. THe Delphox was a bit more 'mature' in his demeanor, having grown up with Zachary for years and a touch more serious. Sometimes, anyway...[break][break] In the laboratory, Zachary heard as the two discussed. He was curious about the migration pokemon, and couldn't help but wonder-- did this have anything to do with the "Runaway Raichu" Zachary caught with the help of Josh Devlin . Perhaps he should ask where he had been finding them. [break][break] It was then he learned the small detail about his new acquaintance. He paused, a bit stunned-- that Dizzy and Happy looked to him, and soon saw Zachary perk up with surprise and shock. "WHA?! YOU'RE A GYM LEADER?!" Zachary exclaimed, both surprised and excited that his eyes almost sparkled. What was the odds by all this that he was among another GYm Leader. Where they this common to meet?! Zachary's deep feverant desire was to become a GYm Leader himself, and both challenge trainers and guide them in becoming better trainers. THough young and inexperienced, it was a goal he made for himself than just simple competition in the league. Now he met a second Gym Leader out of the blue! "Oh, wow. It's great to meet you. What kind of Gym do you run? Are you here as part of the job? Wow, that must be so cool to be one!" [break][break] Dizzy grew a blank stare of embarrassment and shook his furry head and ears. [break][break] Despite his excitement as a 'fan boy' he was still welcomed to join them. Zachary did join in, while still jazzed to meet Lam, he regained his composure. [break][break] Zachary looked around, seeing the tanks empty a bit. "Pardon me for asking, but it seems the aquarium is a bit ... scarse today? Did anything happen?" he asked. [break][break] "We underwent some cleaning of the tanks and due to the low volume of visitors on the weekday we try to keep our specimens and attractions in another area or in pokeballs as needed. We are always open to see some new specimines to see how they act. But yeah, not many trainers have water Pokemon willing to let out a bit." the man said. [break][break]
However, Zachary smiled. "Oh, I think I have a couple that may interest you..." Zachary said with a smirk. [break][break]

[attr="class","text"] Peaches, endlessly entertained with the Mime Jr’s response to her antics, chattered in a chorus of bright psy yaissss as her paws clapped together. She nudged the other psyduck, trying to get it to join in, but it continued to watch shyly–still not quite able to muster up the courage just yet. It eyed Zachary curiously, though, as his expression brightened at Lam’s reveal.[break][break]
“Hm?” Lam turned toward the younger man at his exclamation, brows lifting. “Oh, yeah. Right–guess I didn’t mention that before. Sure am!” A quiet laugh followed, almost sheepish in tone. It wasn’t that he wasn’t decently well-known for his position, having held it for almost a year now, but he was never one to be too loud about it, either. At least not in the day to day– he simply never thought to lead with that bit of information.[break][break]
“I run a gym based around double battles,” he answered easily, smiling as he slipped into ‘shop talk’. It was easy to discuss styles, typing, and matches. He shrugged, “Sort of–it was a collective effort in the city to gather up these pokemon I’ve brought today so they could be treated and either rehomed or kept here, but I volunteered to bring ‘em myself.” Lam nodded then, grin widening that much more. “It’s a great job. Fun, too. I kind of started late in the game with formal battling, and realized that I was way better at it than I’d thought I would be.”[break][break]
If somebody told him a few years ago that this was what he’d be doing now professionally he would’ve laughed. And definitely not believed it. He’d been so set on finding professional work as an artist at the time, he hadn’t even considered this as an option for himself.[break][break]
But he had little regret in the change his career track had taken.[break][break]
Following the attendant around the desk, his head tilted curiously as Zachary asked about the population of the pokemon within the aquarium itself, curiosity piqued despite his personal aversion to using most aquatic types. “Hopefully these ones will fit right in,” he chimed in addition as he began handing over the variety of pokeballs to the attendant, one by one as he pulled them from his bag.[break][break]
“They’re mostly docile sorts, I think, but I think there might be a few snappier sorts too..” His face pinched in through as he tried to recall what exactly they had saved from the choppy waters. To him, they were all just…fishies. With blinking, beady eyes.[break][break]
Again his glance moved toward the trainer, “Got some water types with ya then?” he asked, smile crooked. “I should’ve brought along my feraligatr with these two. She probably would’ve liked the swim.” he nodded at the two psyduck as he spoke. Granted, Pepper could be a bit of a menace when she was feeling extra feisty.

Zachary was curious to what water types that Lam had obtained-- but to help things, Zachary soon took out his own Pokemon. "Well, let me show you-- but I hope this one wasn't from the waters heading to Maville city. He's a bit wild." Zachary said and soon let out the water types he had on him. [break][break] He tossed the balls upward and they popped open-- revealing his friends. In addition to Dizzy and Happy-- out came Calypso a female Slowking who was one of the first Pokemon Zachary caught. She was very friendly and wise, if a bit enigmatic. THe next one was far more interesting to the researcher as she revealed herself-- The Beautiful Milotic, Cetus. The beautiful sea serpent let out a soft cry that sounded like an elegant voice, enchanting the room. It greeted the others around it with a subtle and neutral gaze. [break][break] Last but not least-- was the Pokemon who caused Zachary and Josh Devlin problems. It had terrorized the ocean pass unintentionally by conjuring title waves to surf on and show off. None other than Hermes the Alola Raichu! Hermes let out an enthused RAI as he greeted everyone, having become much more calmer and better behaved in Zachary's care... well mostly. [break][break] "HOpe this little guy wasn't the trouble you were talking about, but we worked that out. " Zachary explained, smiling at his new Alola Raichu-- who showed a large amount of energy. "As for these two-- this is Calypso and--" [break][break] "OH MY!!!" The researcher cried, eyes alit with joy and wonder. It gazed, mouth agape at the sight of the beautiful Milotic now in the lab, floating there. "A milotic! A real Milotic! I can't believe it! Such a fine and beautiful specimen! Where did you get it? DId you evolve it yourself? It's scales are so shiny and healthy! Oh my! Oh my!" he exclaimed, looking her over more and more almost in a creepy manner. [break][break] Zachary gave a nervous chuckle, as Dizzy too frowned at the researcher's behavior. "Um... its a long story. But I found it in the wild. "Such beautiful color. To think it would be in the wild! Oooh, I should take a sample if I can Just a tiny scale and--" [break][break] Cetus soon had enough of the researcher's violation of her personal space and gave a cry-- before shooting an Ice Beam at the researcher-- casting him in a thin sheen of ice. [break][break] The researcher chattered by the sheer cold as Cetus turned her head away, offended. "Sorry... I overstepped... I see that now..." [break][break] "Brrrrr..."Dizzy grunted as he took out his stick and used his flames on the stick to slowly warm him and melt the ice. [break][break] Zachary looked to Lam-- curious what he thought of his Pokemon. "Pardon Cetus. She's really quite a sweetheart. But yeah I'd imagine a professor poking at you would cause some discomfort." Zachary said, unaware that Cetus was behind him-- and soon nuzzled his face with her own and cooed lovingly. [break][break]

He looked back down at the collection of pokeballs for a moment, contemplating the suggestion. Surely all these pokemon that had turned up hadn’t come all the way from near Mauville.[break][break]
Lam shook his head, “Nahhh, even if you’ve brought a troublemaker along, these are from the waters around Lilycove—probably different from over in Mauville!” He watched curiously as Zachary turned his Pokémon loose—and in turn, so did the two Psyduck who remained by his feet. [break][break]
“You've got quite the crew—“ he started, before the researcher broke into his fit of excitement. From that point on, it was a bit like watching a car crash in slow motion as he prodded the poor milotic into reacting out of irritation. Lam couldn’t say he blamed her for that.[break][break]
“Guess she’s not afraid to let you know where the line is,” he remarked with a short laugh. The guy was lucky Zachary had a delphox along to thaw him out. Anyways— “This is a good group! I can see where your favor for physic types comes in.”[break][break]
He eyed the Alolan Raichu in particular with a grin, though. “I’m from Alola myself. So I gotta admit—I’m a bit biased to this variation. He looks like he has a big personality, like someone else I know.” Lam looked down at Peaches when he said this, and she let out an indignant honk as her flappy arms reached up around her head.[break][break]
It was then, however, that he noticed the quieter Psyduck creeping out from where it had been hiding behind his legs—curious as it observed the affection the milotic openly gave her trainer. It waddled up to Zachary, and stared up at him with a tilted head. “Huh. how ‘bout that. I’ve been trying to get this one out of its shell for ages, it's never been so forward.”[break][break]
But that was a good thing, he thought. A breakthrough, even.

The chaos soon melted into humor as they all relaxed and calmed down, especially how the Psyducks got to meet Zachary's pokemon. Happy continued to mimick the Psyduck for fun, while Cetus regarded them with stern but calm affection. Calypso too, waved and greeted the equally 'odd' duckies. Even Hermes the Raichu, floated around -- if asked it would even probably give one of the Psyducks a ride on its floating tail. [break][break] "Anyway, if you wanted specimines to swim in the tanks and let people see them, I'd be happy to let them around the aquarium for a bit. It sounds like fun," Zachary offered the researcher. He was enthused, especially for the chance to see how a Milotic behaved in open water. [break][break] As they talked, one Psyduck took interest in Zachary. Seemingly shy or perhaps reserved, the Psyduck waddled up to Zachary and looked up at him with its big eyes. Happy, doing his usual copying, joined soon and mimicked the Psyduck too-- his little way of getting to know it. The pair looked hilarious together. [break][break] Zachary knelt down to Lam's Psyduck at the mention of t being shy. "Hehe... hey there, little buddy. What's on your mind?" Zachary playfully stated. He openly reached out his hand. Eventually the psyduck approved and let Zachary touch it. He gently rubbed the psyducks' rather smooth feathers, scratching and rubbing his head. The psyduck almost gave a slur of a pleased 'squawk' , showing his appreciation for the head rub. [break][break] The rest of their time there was pleasant, as the researcher learned from Zachary's unique water pokemon-- and Zachary and Lam got to know one another better. [break][break]
