Though inexperienced, Petra feels as though it's on her to take responsibility during their mission into hostile territory by right of age. While Yuina seems capable, her elder was stuck in her ways, explaining why she was still smoking despite knowing how costly they would be to her health in the long run.

"Please don't do anything rash." The stress of the situation, which she hadn't realized until being there, was troubling enough without anything to add onto it all. Like the duo of paradox pokemon currently advancing on their flank.

Offering her own pokemon up for battle, it's command to impede their charge is accomplished via a HEAT WAVE that causes the very ground to smolder. But that clearly wasn't enough to stop them, evidenced by the two GREAT TUSK silhouettes rolling right through the fiery mayhem.

The reports came too late, that interdream mist energy in the form of Paradox Pokemon had breached the last perimeter for the base. There was hardly time to prepare and even less time to get reps and volunteers organized for a defense before the ground began to rumble and quake at the oncoming attack.[break][break]
Yuina had been chatting with an older woman for a time, just empty space to fill between expeditions and assignments when the alarms rang. Yuina, by rank and responsibility, was meant to take the defensive first given there weren't any other ranked officers at the base at the time, just volunteers and such, but the woman made haste in getting out into the battle field, even against Yuina's worries.[break][break]
Two Great Tusk were barreling towards the base at a powerful speed, the ground began to crack under their sheer pressure as their spikes hit the ground. The woman and a Weezing made an attempt at searing the ground with a Heat Wave, but it didn't prove fruitful, not when the powerful ground types paid little heed to fire type attacks.[break][break]
Yuina rushed forward, they were nearing the base, and she released Heizen the Heatran into the fray. The fire type rumbled, smoke billowing from his open maw, and he began to stomp his clawed feet on the ground in contrast to the Great Tusk's Bulldoze. Earthpower took over the landscape as colums of earth rose up from the ground, breaking the path of the great tusks and causing them to divert, but only just. The paradoxes were sure to come back around.

realizing just a little late that she was the one who needed to take a backseat, petra works quickly to retrieve her weezing - opting to fight with her ninetales instead. while things were a little too hectic to worry about an apology for that...transgression, the part-timer at least makes an effort to do better this time.

"thanks for the save!" providing ample time for her pokemon to be situated in this battle, petra doesn't even have to give the command - it's extrasensory 'impacting' with one of the Great Tusken's and sending it reeling into the other's path. this managed to get a rise out of petra, chuckling under her breath as she watched the two of them fumble and fight with one another. being on this side of a battle wasn't so bad...

The ground trembled and shook, and Yuina was thankful they were at least in the upper levels of the chasm to minimize the amount of shifting it could cause to the unstable tectonic plates... But Heizen defelecting the two Great Tusk for that moment was far from the end of their tirade.[break][break]
"Don't thank me yet. They're not going to stop yet," Yuina returned, they weren't anywhere close to staving off the offending Pokemon.[break][break]
In spite of the Extrasensory and forcing the Great Tusk into a tustle with each other for a brief moment, Yuina knew that their attention on each other wouldn't last. They would get rid of the intrusion first in a mutual agreement before turning to fight each other for territory. To ensure one of them wins in the end.[break][break]
As the two ground types clashed for just a brief moment, stomping on the ground in fury, the earth trembled again as one of them used Earthquake in an attempt to break off from the other. Heizen bellowed, if they got too much closer while using earthquake the integrity of the base would be compromised, and so the Heatran rushed forward with steel head bared, thrusting himself into the pair of them with an Iron Head to knock them away.

oh... yeah, she should've seen that coming.

regardless of any resistance, the dastardly great tusk duo wreak havoc - the earthquake they caused rag-dolling petra's ninetales and injuring one of it's paws gripped by the earth's vice-like mold. "shit!" even with yuina's pokemon batting them away like the nuisance they were, one had still managed to continue it's pursuit - seemingly ready to run right through the fox with it's tusks.

desperate not to see her pokemon harmed, petra almost made it a step forward before the barrier-walls erected from all four sides, impeding the movement of their foe in particular. phew... maybe she was starting to dislike being on this side of the battle, after all.

True to form, just as she had surmised from other encounters with some of the Paradox Pokemon that emerged from the inter dream mist, the Great Tusk were far from done.[break]
Yuina knew it was nothing more than their most base natural instincts though, and nothing else. In a way they were very similar to the Alpha Pokemon of Hisui, with all of the strength and powerful instinct to match. And then some likely. It wasn't their fault. She almost hated having to be in this place, encroach upon a territory that was never meant to belong to the surface world, but alas... [break][break]
"We need to knock them back as far as we can, I should be able to get them to turn back so long as we don't hurt the base," Yuina remarked, sending Heizen forward again. She knew that Roble the Electrode was potent, his explosions could turn just about anything away from encroaching further, but his radius was undeniable... They needed to get the Great Tusk farther away from the base for it to matter.

the most she could offer was to cordon them off and slowly push the line. "ninetales, try to force them out with those barriers." despite being injured, the fox would try, erecting psychic walls that slowly urged the two of them away. they tried to bust through with all their might, but it didn't work. although it did give petra an idea.

"wait, do you think the prison could contain the blast?" it was quite the risky gamble, but maybe, right?

None of it was perhaps the best idea that there could be, but it was certainly going to be effective, best case scenario.[break]
The two Great Tusk were pushed back with the psychic energy, and Heizen worked with his Iron Head to push the issue, forcing the giants back that much further. For good measure, the Heatran thrust a fury of Stone Edge at the two before digging his way into the ground, a way to evade what was to come. They had to act quick before the tusks charged again.[break][break]
"I don't want to hurt your Pokemon, we just need to get as far back as possible, and maybe we can at least keep a barrier in front of the base," Yuina urged, unceremoniously grabbing the woman by her arm to hasten back towards the base while she took out anothere Pokeball, tossing it behind her in much the same manner one would a grenade...[break][break]
From the energy, Roble's giant round figure emerged onto the grass, and the Electrode rolled down the hillside towards their foes, his blast would be imminent.[break]

"ninetales, hurry up!" watching yuina's pokemon rolling along, knowing an explosion was imminent... she would've liked to watch, were it not for the hand pulling her along. the ninetales also moves, frantic and rushed as it dives towards the base while conjuring a final imprison as a cautionary layer of protection.

while petra thought she would've liked to see it, that potent eruption - at least until that dreaded rumbling coarses through the earth, followed by distinct silence. her nerves writhe, uncertain of what to do with the sensation they'd witnessed.

what are they teaching pokemon these days?! wide-eyed and barely processing what was in front of her, she only looks over at the sound of her ninetales licking it's injured paw.

"...do we even bother checking?" she was certain such a blast was enough to lay low just about any creature. even those of the paradoxical variety.

There was barely time, they'd made it back to the base and the imprison was set, Yuina ducked down behind a rock to avoid what she knew was coming.[break]
Roble rolled right towards the pair of Great Tusk, they were getting ready to charge again and saw an easy target. But the Electrode began to glow, drawing in the power of sunlight before the ground shook and rumbled at the power of his Chloroblast.[break][break]
Yuina shielded her head in her arms, the wave of the explosion rushed over them, and then quiet... Stillness... It was done.[break][break]
Through the dust and debris of the explosion, Roble's round figure rolled towards them, pushed by Heizen to help the Electrode along, and Yuina looked up at the woman's wondering.[break][break]
"We're okay, I'm sure... Roble isn't the end of everything, but he packs a punch when it matters," Yuina returned, the way Heizen was coming back towards her too confirmed that they no longer had to worry about the Great Tusks. They likely turned tail and dragged themselves back into the depths of the chasm.
