Unfortunately, her last foray with Ferny did not end with anything of substance. All she had were more useless laptops and few matching power cords. It seems the computer manufacturers in Megalopis were just as slimy as the ones across the divide. Today’s journey, however, had little to do with pilfering technology. She was much more interested in examining its strange inhabitants.

Today’s portal dropped her off in a different part of the city. It appeared to be residential—a few standalone houses standing between the skyscrapers. It was to one of these she headed first. Unfortunately, it seemed the Megalopans were patrolling. Was there still something worth saving in this place? If so, she wanted to see it.

A hand reached for the knob only to find it stubbornly shut. “Purrseus,” The cat turned to face her. “Be a dear, would you?” With a grumble, he sent the door off its hinges. “This will be a good base, I think.” The woman turned to a nearby bookshelf and lifted a picture frame. In it, a family of blue-skinned people looked back. There was something jarring about seeing the cannibalistic beasts in another setting.

A smile pulled at her lips as she opened a closet. “Well, well, well.” She sang in a teasing lilt. “Momma was naughty.” She tugged the Ultra Recon suit from its hanger. It still smelled vaguely of detergent. Though the scent—while pleasant—was not something she could place. Halfway through changing, her Purrugly’s head jerked up. The sound of shoes on the steps was audible.

Not caring that her outfit was only partially on, she peered around the doorframe.

This place was a sight to behold. It’s architecture rather peculiar for the burnt scarred man. From the towering black prism like skyscrapers, flickering artificial lights, and dark flat streets, it was something he had never seen before other than those fictional movies. Surreal to say the least, a once lively city he presumed now abandoned for reason he wasn’t sure of. Never a good sign. However, the man pressed forward. After all, he was here for a reason.[break][break]

A low grumble of a growl rattled in the massive six foot seven houndoom, intense ruby orbs glared through the rapidash skull she wore over her own. Long arrow tipped tail flickered, catching a scent on the light breeze the washed through the strange place. “Found someone,” the man mumbled in a low tone, his own crimson colored orbs shifted to the direction she stared, “It could be our partner.” Her nose lifted into the air, nostrils flared to scent it out some more before she let out a snort. “Hmmm… Let’s go check it out.”[break][break]

Like always, Maverick held his placid emotionless mask he was well known to hold. Hands shoved into his pockets, casually strolling closer to whatever Azula found. She moved towards what looked like a smaller residential building, the front door wide open as though whoever lived there at one point either left it open or someone was snooping. They both paused several feet outside, Azula letting out another low growl. “Easy,” he told the canine, “Let’s see what it is first.” Taking in a deep breath in hopes he wasn’t falling for a trap, Maverick moved closer.[break][break]

“Hey,” he called out, entering the place and hearing some shuffling in a room near by, “Anyone in here.” Curious, the man moved towards the noises first. After all, it could just be a critter and nothing more. He moved towards the doorframe, unknowing that someone was indeed in there. “Hello-“ A long purple haired woman peered out, violet gaze on him almost instantly. Maverick held his flat expression, though brows scrunched together only to quickly look away. She was getting dressed?[break][break]

“Oh- Sorry. I didn’t know someone was in here,” he started, gaze fell upon the houndoom as she stared the stranger down, “And I know it’s probably none of my business but…. What are you doing?” Was this his exploration partner? Or, just some stranger that was here? Honestly, Mav didn’t expect to actual run into someone.

The smell of dog set Purrseus on edge. It was a strong enough stench to pause his raiding of the kitchen cabinets. His pug nose wrinkled as he peered around the edge of the island. Behind him, his tail whipped like a battlefield flag. As the young man entered, the cat did not immediately pounce. His kind relied on ambush after all.

As the man shouted into the abyss, Purrseus rolled his blue eyes toward the ceiling. People always asked silly questions like that. As if someone who meant them ill would be stupid enough to answer. As the pair approached his trainer’s hideaway, the cat moved to follow. As he did, he stopped to stare at the fridge. The thing was covered in paper. All of it filled with scribbles of some bright, stained glass thing.[break][break]

Calpurnea, meanwhile, displayed not the least bit of restraint. With only half the zipper done up, the scientist strode confidently toward this interloper. The chasm between the two sides of the street left most of her cleavage on full display. Only the sides were hidden by the white leather. His scars made her cluck empathetically between her teeth. “Well—” The Rocket purred as she took two confident steps forward. “It is hard to knock without a door.” Which was their fault. Silly her.

She drew her hands down to the paused zipper. “You’re right. It isn’t any of your business, but I feel quite magnanimous.” Manicured nails clenched around the little metal tab and slowly pulled it upward. A small smile perked her lips upward. “I am trying to see what we might learn from Atlantis.” In these walls—somewhere—had to be something of value. It was whatever drew Necrozma to devour it. Maybe something that might let her rewrite the fate of the world itself. Certainly, interdimensional and time travel were something Hoenn needed.

Now, the scientist moved to pop Maverick’s personal bubble. “What about you, handsome?” Was that a subtle jab? It was hard to tell. “What brings you to the edge of reality?”

Crimson colored orbs were on his beloved hellhound, watching her for clues as to what the stranger might be doing. And as she spoke and he heard the zipper continue its path (what he hopes was upwards), he not only listened but noticed Azura’s lips lifted even more. She emitted a low growl, giving Maverick the impression that she was getting closer. Crimson colored orb shifted to the woman, unsure of what he expected while trying to expect everything.[break][break]

Instinctive, the burnt scarred man took a casual step back as she seemed to have popped his personal bubble. Though the man seemed unfazed by her actions, it was still clear that he was not expecting her so close nor her strange questions. “I was looking for interesting,” he replied with a grunt, pulling his gaze away from the rather pretty woman to note frenzy of drawings etched into the walls of the building , “Do you think wearing that gear would really do anything or are you looking to start a new fashion trend?” Or steal it. Steal it seemed like the right answer, but who was he to call that? Honestly, he will probably take a few things too.

The man certainly looked like a tough customer. It was not like you got those scars from jump rope. The muscles indicated a person who wasn’t afraid of hard work. A wonderful ~~tool~~--ally—in a place like this. Some part of her was disappointed when he stepped away. She left her boot in place for a second before sliding it back to join her other foot. No reason to act desperate, Kelpie. Silly dolt’s lucky to have your company.

Violet eyes sweep around the bedroom she’s in. It’s quite mundane, for an alien’s room anyway. With the zipper fully in place, manicured fingers drop back to her sides. “And did you find what you’re looking for?” His flat face seems to indicate he hadn’t. But his question indicated the trauma had not burned away his wit.

She shook her head. “The sheep can find their own leader.” Trendsetters just invited the following of fools. “I am hoping I can pass the mob unperturbed—” She sighed. “They aren’t so different from us, so I assume it is sight and smell that clues them in.” Even if you could see little in this gods' forsaken place. She grabbed the hat from a nearby hook.

She sweeps her hair into it with practiced ease. “And what better way to test a hypothesis?” Her eyes flick to the other uniform in the closet. Maybe a little long in the arms, but it should fit well enough.
