As you walk through the modern halls of Mauville Hills, you pull the collar of your jacket high and pull your hat far over your face. It's bad enough that you have to walk about in public like this, but for something so menial? Scrounging for runaways on behalf of the science department? Those bastards are running you ragged. You'd tell them to fuck off, if only you didn't owe them so many favours.

You peer around a corner, keeping an eye out for any stray Pokemon. Strange smell in the air tonight. Like vanilla, but stale. Is that even a real thing? Can vanilla get stale? Hell if you know. Just melts, doesn't it? Or at least, it does in ice cream...

As you peer around the corner, you spot a Doduo loitering in the hall. Is that one of the runaways? You pull out your phone and briefly skim the file you were given, and... No, actually, that's just some Doduo. Huh.

Is it a pet? Is it wild? Is it supposed to be here? Is it trespassing? How did it even get up here to the fourth floor without wings? Did it take the stairs, or the elevator? Is it going to make a mess of things?

As you peer around the corner, you see the humble Porygon hover about, floating to and fro as it searched for whatever it was seeking. Probably for some data. Maybe one of the lucky sons of bitches in here has got themselves one of those fancy quantam fibre wi-fi connections? Hell if you know. Hell if you're going to bother finding out.

For a moment, you wonder if the copper wire market is still booming. Then you recall that fibre optic wires don't have copper in them. They're made of, like, diamonds and shit. Not the kind of diamonds you can just pluck out and sell, though. The shitty kind of diamonds.
