He should've known better than to cut through the desert north of Mauville, but it was so much quicker than heading west and working his way through the Jagged Pass. And besides, he had assumed that the short expanse of sand and jagged rock couldn't have been that different from the Asado Desert just to the west of his own home in Paldea, and that was a trek he had made many times in his youth. [break][break] But oh boy, had he been proven wrong. Eddie was no stranger to the discomfort brought by the biting sands and dry heat of a place like this, but the wind was another matter entirely. Maybe the high canyons of the Asado Desert shielded it from the angry northern winds that scraped across the stretch of land he was desperately trying to cross now. Maybe the desert of Route 111 was just uniquely strange and terrible because it was in Hoenn, and this region had some odd way of making even the most mundane places and things remarkable. [break][break] On the bright side, Delilah didn't seem affected by the fearsome gales and coarse sand in the slightest. Maybe if Eddie just kept his head down and the Mudsdale kept moving, they'd be able to make it to Fallarbor before nightfall.
