1st Expedition

"It might be a bit easier with a demonstration. Astrape!"

With her next motion, she sent out a Luxray from its Pokeball. "Use Electric Terrain. We don't need too much energy."

As the Luxray gave a quick howl, the ground around them began to be covered with light sparks that provided a gentle glow. But if it were merely that she could provide some light with that Electric Terrain, that would be miniscule.

It was something else entirely. Eventually, the light field of sparks hit something, causing it to have an ambient blue glow.

"When you think about it, the Megalopolans who landed here must have made some attempts to explore the location as well. The fact that their ship was stranded here brought its own problems too. So, they had to have been aware of the fact that there were locations where light could never reach."

Then, off in the distance, in the direction she saw it. Another blue glow. Then another one further down.

"So, there was no way they couldn't create some sort of back-up in case someone was lost or couldn't navigate back. Which leads us to those things."

She pointed at the glow on the ground a few feet from them as well as the one further down and the one further down that.

"They left behind beacons. I actually noticed quite a few earlier on, so I realized there was no way they wouldn't have left any this deep in. And sure enough..."

She was completely correct with her deduction.

"We won't know exactly where the ground is, but we can still fly from beacon to beacon and light any more along the way." Elaine returned her Flygon and let out Ginga instead. At this point, Flygon would not be able to carry both Elaine and Luxray as she needed the quadrupedal Pokemon out to light any further beacons.

"Let's get going," she said, pulling herself and Luxray atop Metagross before letting it start to float in the air. "We don't know how long the beacons will keep lit."
