Humans are strange creatures. [break][break]

This particular human has bested you in combat, but strangely, has not since made any attempts at destroying you for good, nor has he attempted to strengthen himself by absorbing your energy. Perhaps it is simply because he lacks the proboscis that the rest of your kin possesses to achieve such a task. Perhaps it is because he has other plans for you. [break][break]

And perhaps this outing is a part of those plans. He prattled on in his strange tongue as you entered this oddly curated bit of wilderness, and though you didn't exactly understand the words that he spoke, his body language clearly voiced his intent. This was for... relaxation? For sport? You flexed a bicep in inquiry, curling the arm up and toward your collar, clearly asking him to elaborate. He tilted his head quizzically and mimicked the gesture in reply. [break][break]

If you had the physical capacity to do so, you would sigh in exasperation. What a stupid, pitiful man.

You turn to look onto the canopy of alien trees, multi-faceted eyes scanning them from a million impossible perspectives. Suddenly, something flits out from one of the heavy, green branches, and the purpose of your trip becomes clear. [break][break]

As the bird sails over your head, you easily jump up and catch it in one hand. This must be some sort of training exercise, of course! How could you have been so blind? And while this was a trifling test of your agility, you hope that it has met the human's expectations (though even now you wonder why the opinion of a lesser being should matter to you at all). [break][break]

The man turns and you offer the squirming, flapping prize. He suddenly looks rather horrified and produces a capsule not unlike the one you are housed in. The bird disappears, and again, the man exclaims something in the language you cannot comprehend. You tilt your head and your antenna quiver; his motives are truly inscrutable.

After the incident with the bird, the man leads you into the wilderness of this place proper, explaining something and gesturing at the trees with excitement. You think that he doesn't yet realize that you can't understand him, but at the very least, he seems rather happy. At ease, even. That is, until, the next creature makes their presence known. [break][break]

Some sort of diminutive, bipedal stoat leaps from a bush, striking what you know to be a fighting pose. The man says something with caution and concern; you just flex your arms downward and curl them back towards your chest. You have nothing to fear from such a tiny creature. [break][break]

It tries to BOUNCE into the air high above you, but you dodge it with ease, retaliating with a crackling THUNDER PUNCH that easily dispatches the arrogant creature. The man sighs and produces another capsule, looking somehow disappointed. Your wings thrum with irritation. What the hell does this guy want from you?

Before the man can see the upper limits of your ire, a noise suddenly rumbles through the dense woods. Your antennae prick at the vibrations it sends surging through the air; is it one of those mechanical beasts the humans pilot? You turn only to see a being of steel and smog barrel towards you. This time you opt to exercise more caution than you had with the leaping weasel, and instead nimbly duck to the side and grab the newest assailant in one large hand. It's wheels spin furiously but catch nothing but air; you present it in offering to the man, because surely he couldn't object to how you handled this particular encounter. [break][break]

He nods and produces another capsule. Once the vehicular Pokemon is secured, he beams at you brightly. Perhaps he values evasive tactics over displays of sheer strength.

It was now, apparently, time to depart. [break][break]

The man gesticulated cautiously, thumbing back towards the man-made entrance to this swath of woodland, and you flexed back in confirmation. He paused before flashing you a 'thumbs up'; while this gesture is still unlike your own language of posing, it is at least easier to understand its meaning than your trainer's constant mouth-sounds. [break][break]

You followed him as you made your way back until he suddenly extended an arm out, halting your procession. You stopped, wings thrumming with concern and agitation; what unseen threat had he uncovered? Were you in some sort of mortal peril? [break][break]

The answers to those questions were still unclear as your trainer cautiously approached some sort of... swaying frond? With bright little eyes that stared at you with obvious curiosity. The man extended an arm with a gentleness you were sure you would have been incapable of. Why was it that he didn't strike the creature down? Was he waiting for you to do so? Was he assessing the creatures strength? [break][break]

You almost lunged forward when the plant-beast extended a couple of probing fronds back to poke at your trainer's hand. He spoke again in a soft voice and produced a final capsule. In a flash of light, the plant-beast was gone, and the two of you were alone again. [break][break]

He turned to you with another broad smile and began to talk excitedly, waving his hands in animated gestures that spoke of compassion and kinship. It was... puzzling. Perhaps this was another peculiarity of humanity; what strange tactics had he employed to allow the plant-beast to acquiesce without a brawl? [break][break]

You don't know, and you're not sure you'll ever know. Humans are strange creatures, but perhaps the company of this particular specimen isn't as terrible as you first thought it to be.
