Something other than the Braviary was soaring the Hoennian skies. Was it a bird? A plane? No, it was... a human woman dressed up in a Hydreigon Sygna Suit. And you will believe that she could Fly!

Andrea was thrilled to finally be able to explore the Sky Pillar without getting jumped by Kyogre or getting sucked into an Ultra Wormhole. On her way there, the draconic cosplayer spotted a bespectacled youth who reminded her of nagi miwa, thus she glided down to meet him face to face.

"Hi there! Are you an explorer too? My name's Andrea, and this is Chomper!" The airborne girl jovially introduced herself as well as the shiny Hydreigon hovering alongside her, looking almost like her long-lost sibling.

Movement from his peripheral vision caught his attention immediately, causing him to look to his side. To his surprise, he spotted a woman flying towards him. It wasn’t that he was surprised to find someone else up here with him, but that she was flying by herself and not with the aid of a Pokémon.

The outfit she wore was strange as well. Something told him that it was because of the suit she wore that she could fly. It's almost like a wind suit.

Was this one of those Sygna suits he had heard about? He had heard they could grant people unnatural abilities. However, he had never seen one in action before. Then again, he hadn’t seen one inactive before either.

“Something like that. I wanted to go for a flyover over the ocean, but considering I hadn’t been past Lilycove before, I kind of got lost. However, I did decide to make the most of it and get some exploring done before I have to figure my way back,” he admitted, his own response more subdued than her own, giving way for his shyer nature.

"Anyway, my name’s Beckett, or Beck if you prefer, and this is Sora,” he said, introducing both himself and his braviary.

Before they could get too much into a conversation, he noticed from a distance. Wondering if it was another person, he glanced towards what had caught his attention, only to see a dragonite.

It spotted them as well but seemed more curious about them being near its airspace than angry. He figured it was because they weren’t showing any aggression toward it or their surroundings. He debated and didn't get closer to it, but before he could, he decided to move closer on his own.

At first, it seemed the most curious about the fact Andrea could fly on her own before turning its curiosity towards Sora, who seemed just as interested in the dragonite. While Sora could definitely be overly protective of him, he was also a fairly social creature, unlike his own owner. This, of course, led to Sora being more eager to interact with more Pokémon, even if those Pokémon weren’t owned by someone, just as long as they didn’t show aggression anyway.

Seeing how interested the Dragonite was in his mount, he pulled out a pokeball and decided to see if the Dragonite would want to join his team.

“Hey there, if you want to get to know Sora, I would be more than happy for you to join my team,” he said, drawing the dragonite’s attention towards himself as he held a pokeball towards him. The dragonite seemed to consider him for a minute before brushing his snout against the button, allowing himself to be drawn into the pokeball.[break] Andrea Vaneau

Andrea smiled warmly at the introductions of man and bird alike. “Nice to meet you, Beck, and Sora! I have a Salamence named Sora too!” She remarked, thinking fondly of the day the azure dragoness had earned her nickname.

A wild Dragonite took interest in the dragon-costumed human, who playfully indulged its curiosity with a couple of aerial tricks that pumped her full of adrenaline. “Woohoo! Sygna Suits are the best!” Nothing beat the sensation of flying in the air. It was the truest expression of freedom.

Beckett befriended the orange dragon, turning him getting lost into a net positive. “Nice catch! I bet we can find more Pokémon near the tower! Wanna race me there?” Andrea proposed, while pointing at the ancient skyscraper in the distance.

"Likewise, Andrea,” he said before speaking once more. "Sora, I feel, would be a pretty common name for Pokémon that can fly. It means sky after all, and the way it sounds makes one think of soaring through the sky. Outside of Sora here, I also have an Alonan Ninetails named Sesi. Sesi means snow,” he explained a bit awkwardly. He really wasn’t used to talking this much.

As she performed a few tricks, his earlier suspicions were confirmed with the mention of Sygna suits. “It does seem like fun, but I think I much prefer flying astride my Pokémon,” he admitted, keeping his gaze lowered. There was also the fact that his friend just might have a heart attack if he ever told him he wanted a Sygna suit that would enable him to fly.

Once the dragonite had turned his interest to Sora, he tried a friendlier approach to catching it and succeeded. When addressed by Andrea, he was surprised. Not due to being addressed, considering they had been talking the whole time, but due to what was suggested.

A race?

The idea caused him to look at Sora. He was sure the avian would probably enjoy it. And he supposed that as long as his friend didn’t find out, it would be fine.

“Sounds good to me; I hope I do well. I admit I’ve never done any kind of race before.”

After that was said, he would wait until Andrea was ready. Once she was, he would start towards the tower, pushing Sora to go faster than before.

He was pretty close to the tower when Sora suddenly ascended the steeper than usual climb, catching him guard. Before he could really recover, he saw a toucano flying at him, and he realized the Toucannon must have attacked before, but they had been able to dodge.

As the toucan came out of them with the intention of hitting them with its beak, Sora dodged again. However, instead of simply dodging this time, the Hisuian Braviary retaliated with a wing attack, slamming into the toucan and knocking it back again.

Before the Toucannon could recover from the attack, he took a pokeball out and flew close enough to tap the Toucannon with it and suck the bird into the Pokémon.

Battle done, he suddenly remembered Andrea and looked around to see if she had reached the tower. Even if not, he would resume heading there, reaching it not long after.[break] Andrea Vaneau

The name Sora did evoke the feeling of soaring through the sky with nary a care in the world, freed from the shackles of gravity.

Speaking of soaring, their impromptu aerial race was on. Andrea flapped her artificial wings with fervor, but try as she might, she could not contest an actual Flying Pokémon. She was easily out-sped by the Braviary.

The Sygna Suited girl arrived at the finishing line several seconds later, panting heavily from the exercise. Despite having lost, she looked elated. “Hah… hah… Looks like you caught another new friend. Congrats!”

Just then, an owl landed on top of her head. “Oh… Hello, little one. Are you hungry?” Andrea offered some spare berries to the Dartrix, who nibbled on them with eagerness. “Wow, you REALLY were hungry!”

After its hunger had been sated, the Dartrix remained by the costumed human’s side, seemingly tamed. “Looks like I also made a friend!” The girl remarked, readying a Pokéball.

Not long after getting to the Sky Pillar, Andrea would show up. It seemed he had beat her. Though considering the fact that he was using a Pokémon while she was only using a Sygna suit that made use of aerodynamics, it made sense. Still, he had prepared for her having beaten him when he had been caught up in battling the Toucannon.

Almost as if she had read his mind, she brought it up.

"Well, I suppose that’s one way of putting it. It tried to knock us out of the air, so I caught it,” he commented, apparently figuring catching a Pokémon trying to knock him out of the sky made perfect sense. In reality, it would usually only make sense to someone like Beckett.

Someone had a bleeding heart. A person who wanted to give Pokémon the attention he felt they deserved.

The arrival of a Dartrix pulled him out of his thoughts, and he watched the interaction between them with a small smile on his face. “She seems really happy to be getting your attention,” he agreed.

As absorbed as he was in watching Dartrix and Andrea, he didn’t notice any danger around them until she heard a screech from Sora. Startled, he turned back to where he had left the Hisuian Braviary after dismounting to see a Golbat latching onto Sora.

For a second, he was so caught off guard by seeing a Golbat out in the daytime that he was rooted to the spot. It took Sora shaking the golbat off and the Golbat going for him to act.

Clearly doing the first thing that popped into his mind, he got in between the Golbat and Sora, causing the Golbat to bowl him over. He managed to get a grip on the golbat, but the golbat simply aimed a bite at Beck, attempting to feed on him instead, but was only able to graze his arm due to the long sleeves he wore.

Not happy about the golbat’s attempted attack on his trainer, he would knock him away with a wing before hitting the golbat with a Wing Attack for good measure. Worried for the Golbat, Beck hit the Golbat with a pokeball before Sora could go for another attack.

“That wasn’t smart,” he admitted, clearly talking about putting himself in harm's way.[break] Andrea Vaneau

"That wasn't smart at all!" Andrea chided the silver-haired youth whose recklessness bordered on suicidal. "You can't fight a Pokémon on your own! Not without a Sygna Suit, at least."

With the Golbat no longer being a menace, the duo were allowed to explore the ruins in peace. "Wow, the architecture's really something else! Look at this statue..." Wait a minute, that was no statue. It was a Shedinja!

The living carcass threw sand in the girl's eyes, but luckily, her glasses protected her. "Watch me! THIS is how you fight a Pokémon!" The draconic cosplayer bared her unusually sharp fangs.

With a human-made Crunch, the undead critter was knocked unconscious. Maybe. Since Shedinja couldn't emote, it was hard to actually tell. Regardless, a Pokéball was thrown its way.

At her reprimand, he would hang his head, looking like a kicked Rockruff. “S-Sorry, I just saw Sora in tr-trouble, and my body was just moving,” he explained, tugging at the hem of his sleeves. She didn’t really seem mad, but he still couldn’t help but feel she was mad at him.

If his friend ever found out what he had just done, he would lecture him for sure. It would just be another thing for his friend to lecture him about.

His friend usually lectured him about his work ethic. Usually claiming he would end up ‘running himself into the ground.’ Just his friends nice way of saying he was a workaholic, at least sometimes.

Usually, it took his friend or one of his Pokémon to force himself to take a break. He couldn’t help it if he got so into his task that he forgot to take breaks.

Pushing these thoughts to the back of his mind, he would watch as Andrea caught a Shedninja by actually taking on the Pokémon herself. Unlike him, she was more successful in her endeavor, considering she had avoided getting hurt.

“Th-That was cool; I sh-should look into ge-getting a sygna suit myself,” he said, already thinking of what he might do with a sygna suit. Of course, if he couldn’t get his friend on board with the idea of him getting one, he doubted he would ever get one.[break] Andrea Vaneau

The draconic cosplayer nodded excitedly at Beckett's stuttering assessment. "You should! Sygna Suits are tons of fun! Very expensive though..." How she had managed to afford one whilst being basically unemployed was anyone's guess.

The yapping of a wild Zweilous interrupted them. Andrea's Hydreigon growled menacingly at his lower-evolved form, but the girl raised a hand to stop him. "Wait, Chomper. Let's let someone else handle it for a change." She said, sending out a small, adorable Fuecoco.

"Jalapeño, it's time to Terastallize! Awaken the power of the Dragon type!" The woman hurled a glowing orb at the baby crocodile, causing a brilliant transformation to occur; atop the Fuecoco's head, a crystal crown shaped like a red-winged wyvern manifested.

"Jalapeño, use Tera Blast!" The trainer of dragons ordered. The ensuing beam of color-coded Terastal energy was super effective, weakening the opposing Zweilous just enough to make capture possible.
