A sweet scent filled the air from the community garden. Robin loved to walk through it during every visit to Oldale. An egg was strapped to her back and she swore it moved periodically as she walked through the woods. It made her wonder if it was a grass type given its reaction, though she wasn't sure eggs could react to their environment like that.

"I wish I could entice it to hatch already," she sighed. She turned to Mimi with a weary expression. "It's hard to be patient. Eggs hold such good things. That's how I got Sinistea." The ghost type chimed along. Despite the levity of the situation, a dark shadow seemed to fall upon Robin's face. "I hope its something strong. We need all the help we can get with the coming trouble." Surely, Mimi had noticed the anxiety in the region amping up.

Spring was slowly beginning to fade away; setting the stage for summer. Making it the perfect time to enjoy nature, and create memories with those she cared about. Accompanying Robin for a stroll in Oldale woods, Mimi kept relatively quiet; enjoying the playful melodies of taillow as they fluttered about from tree to tree. [break][break]
Mimi of course noticed Robin's tension, but it was hard for her to determine what exactly was troubling her friend. "Just have to faith robin. I know that you'll be an amazing trainer to whatever hatches from your egg." she attempts to reassure her friend with a gentle smile. The concern growing in her heart when Robin had made a subtle reference to the tension brewing in Hoenn. She didn't want to see Robin; or anyone she cared about on the front lines. Was war truly inevitable?

Faith? Robin fought the urge to scoff. Believing in the best possible outcome had yet to make it so. Further, she knew she could train whatever hatched, but she needed it to have high potential. The best trainer could make a strong togepi, but the strongest togepi could not defeat an average togekiss. She needed power to come from the egg. "I need something that can win," she pushed back. Mimi's ideas were optimistic, but it was all just a dream, really.

"No," she said sharply. "This is happening. War is coming. You're either prepared, or you're not." She faced the girl with utter seriousness. "Mimi, the last time something like this happened, I was nearly abducted on the ocean routes. I wasn't prepared. I thought facing Rocket was just a hard trainer battle. But it's not. They don't stay in the confines of trainer battle etiquette." She pointed right at Mimi's face - "They'll attack you directly. Or a civilian. Or your home. They don't care. Do you get it?"

She felt like a bully, but she had had this talk with Gwendolyn Conway and now Mimi needed it, too. She couldn't afford to lose all her friends. They had to get their heads in the game. She didn't know what she'd do if she lost Mimi or saskia volosenkova or Gwen. This was serious. They had to fight at 110% or they had to run and hide. There was no other choice.

She understood Robin's desire for wanting to win. How could she be angry with her? To lose means failing to protect those who you love. Her friends outburst caught her by surprise, the fear and concern clearly visible on her paled expression. Hearing Robin's harrowing experience at the hands of rocket was heartbreaking. Yet, she could not find the right words to comfort her. "I'm.. I'm sorry Robin.." her lip trembles as she speaks, if something similar happened to her she would break. Yet here Robin was, standing tall; prepared to fight.

But Mimi couldn't help but wonder what was the purpose of the war. just as Robin was fighting for her loved one's; surely Rocket had people who they cared for. Was there truly no room for common ground? Despite the conflicting feeling's she had Mimi decided against voicing them. Instead she offered a lie to Robin's question.

The anxiety was like a sickly sludge climbing from her stomach up her throat. She couldn't keep herself from exuding it, even at the risk of scaring Mimi. No, maybe that was necessary. She could double down on the fear of it all to keep Mimi from the frontlines. Robin felt compelled to protect the other Ranger, even if Mimi could contribute greatly to the effort with her endless kindness. "I need you to be there for yourself, far beyond me. Beyond anyone."

Such instruction seemed to defy the principles Rangers stood on. After all, they were formed to help others, right? But for all she had learned in her gym battles and from her mentors, it seemed that fighting for yourself had to be the initial priority. If Mimi was too self-sacrificing, she would lose parts of herself if not her life, and what contribution could Mimi offer if she was hospital-bound or buried?

"Maybe," Robin said as she pulled her egg around to hold it, pondering. "Maybe you shouldn't fight." She said it softly to weaken the blow, but it wasn't out of cruelty that Robin said it. She valued Mimi's life.
