Nomi sighed softly as the gentle breeze tickled her cheeks.[break][break]
It was her first time venturing out of the house since PENELOPE LIVY had ruined her public image. Apprehension and a cautionary anxiety prickled her skin, but she ignored it: she would be safe here, as long as Kallistatus was watching over her. She could teleport away at a moment's notice.[break][break]
She just needed some fresh air. It felt good to get out of the house, and the Safari Zone was an expansive natural environment, often empty of activity - especially in its more remote corners. Nobody could find her here.[break][break]

She jumped as something fluttered swiftly past her, fearing the sudden heat of magma despite the cool breeze. Heart racing, she began to hyperventilate, expecting to see a flash of red and gold fury.[break][break]
But it was only a tiny Fletchling. Harmless. Gone in seconds.[break][break]
After taking several deep breaths, the adrenaline began to fade. She took one step. Then another.[break][break]
"I'm fine," she assured Kallistatus.

Sitting by a small lake, she watched with an unfocused gaze as two Mienfoo scrapped over a fallen berry. Overlayed on top of the Pokemon, she saw faces instead. The faces of Rocket and League, people trapped in constant battle with one another, over and over throughout the years. Conflict weighed heavily upon her soul, and she sighed, turning to Kallistatus.[break][break]
"I'm just one person," she murmured. "Can I really make a difference?"[break][break]
The shiny Unown-K was as stoic and neutral as ever, though she thought perhaps she felt a slight hint of...uncertainty.[break][break]
She shivered despite the warm sunlight.

It didn't take her long to grow agitated with sitting by the lake. She sighed, rising to her feet. Kallistatus drifted away across the water, as if being drawn by an invisible magnet. She watched it, curious where it might be heading. She felt no fear that it would leave her behind; she trusted Kallistatus with her life.[break][break]
As she turned to go, a varoom zipped by, and Nomi nearly stumbled over her feet. Throwing a Safari Ball in a panic, she attempted to catch the speedy creature.[break][break]

Kallistatus still hadn't returned from its little solo adventure across the lake. Nomi eventually walked over to a thick patch of Oran berries, intending to pick some for a snack. She crouched down, reaching out a hand to snatch one, only to jerk it back as the bush moved.[break][break]
"Oh," she realized. "There's a Pokemon here."[break][break]
Lileep were rare creatures, brought to life through the regeneration of fossils. How did one make it all the way out here, to the Safari Zone? She wondered if Professor GIDEON GRAVES might want to study it at his museum; she'd have to ask him when - [break][break]
But she couldn't ask him anything. She couldn't see him anymore. Not right now.[break][break]
Sadly, she threw a Safari Ball at the living plant.

Eventually, her shiny Unown-K returned to her. As it did, a Pichu popped out of a thicket, tangled up in thorny brambles.[break][break]
Nomi hurried over to it, making soothing sounds as she helped the little creature out of its predicament. Freed, it hobbled over to her and clung to her leg. She stared down at it with a creased brow.[break][break]
"Well, I suppose you can come with me."[break][break]
She took out one of her remaining Safari Balls.
